  1. 400 smackaroos for a bike for my wife! She wanted to see if she liked cycling, so, entry level was par for the course.
  2. Changing gear cables and housings takes me about 15mins. Honestly, its probably the cheapest and quickest way to have trouble free gear changes.
  3. The "legal" letter is a load of rubbish. It seems all you need to create a letter like that is a collection of grey areas, some hear-say and numbered bullet points. Honestly. Can't we all just.....get along?
  4. I don't really get Sponsors pulling the plug so quickly. Sure, fire the drug user. But, honestly, I will not disregard a Neotel telephone line purely because one of the riders in their team doped... Consumers don't care about the doping. It's all brand recognition. Maybe I'm missing the point...
  5. I currently use V-brakes. The thing about v-brakes not breaking as good as discs are rubbish. If I squeeze my brakes a bit too hard the wheels lock or I go over! I agree with JB, the traction is what makes you brake faster. I agree that v-brakes are worse in the wet though. If my rims get when I can still brake, but I have to squeeze a bit harder.Justin2010-01-13 01:43:50
  6. You have a big gap between your big toe and second toe... Nice bike though
  7. My first replacement would be all the cables. Shifting problems can usually be sorted out by a new set of R40 gear cables.
  8. Maybe first pass a medical before allowed to drive again.
  9. Shees, thats harsh!
  10. Shees, thats harsh!
  11. Will remember that next time I plow into someone on a piece of single track!
  12. Great advice! I never thought of just taking it to a plumber.
  13. I know. Just wanted to add my bad experience. Glad I haven't bonked yet!
  14. Shees. Last years Mabalingwe Lion Man I started cramping big time on the big hill. Ended up cramping 5 times from there. I remember walking with my bike, in total pain, with 20km's to go, seeing 2km/h on my speedo, and realising if I can't get on my bike again it will take 10 hours to get to the finish! Also no breakfast. Go figure.
  15. I think this is a pointless complaint. A shop owner can charge what he wants. If you don't want to shop around and are happy to pay his price, so be it. If you however feel ripped off, go somewhere else. It is pointless complaining about a shop that is more expensive than another one. Just don't go there anymore.
  16. I agree. That's why it sends your location every 30 seconds. My point was that, with messages sent every 30secs, it will not pick up sudden crashes, turns or flips. For that functionality it has to send the messages every half/quarter second, which is not viable.
  17. Gps data isn't accurate enough, seeing as it only updates your location on the server every 30secs. Every update has to send a sms or a gprs message to the server that is too expensive to do every half second.
  18. Yes, it does live tracking and so forth, but it does not have an accelerometer in. It won't pick up accidents, sudden stops or sudden turns.
  19. Unfortunately the alarms on change of speed and direction are only in the top end devices and they are big (intended for cars and trucks, not for bicycles). They make use of accelerometers that checks the acceleration in any of the 3 axis. The insurance companies love these, seeing as they can check if you crashed your car at 2am outside Dros.
  20. Yes, the guys can just remove it. The idea of the Guardian unit is not really for theft prevention. Its for your safety. People can check where you are and netstar can recover you. You can give the unit for your children to take to the movies etc. It has a emergency button on it that notifies some contacts and netstar of an emergency.
  21. It has to go somewhere on the frame...perhaps seat bag even. As long as it can pick up the gps satellites. We are currently working an very small units. The previous units were a but bulky. Will see if I can get all the info (specs, pics etc) and perhaps post it on the forum.
  22. This is why you should go to groenkloof.
  23. I work for altech netstar and might be able to organise a Guardian unit. Small and fits on a bike. Can be tracked as long as it is in a cellphone area.
