  1. Miller time!
  2. JPD going for 24 off his first over. This is going to get messy.
  3. Or they can offer a buy-back of Apple watches from those who are now worse off after the changes and/or implement the changes in a tiered approach. 1st tier, remove the apps that can't validate the data, 2nd tier, rebalance the points offered to be more equitable to all sports. If you bought an Apple watch knowing that you could make up the weekly points by doing 1 x long ride at 70% max hr, but now suddenly have to do 3 x long rides at 80% hr for the same "reward", you may have made a different decision when were considering buying the damn thing. PS: I can still put an HR strap on my toddler (who's resting HR during normal daily activity is probably the same as my 70% HR) during each evening's play time and cheat that way. If you really want to cheat, you'll find a way.
  4. Sad news [emoji53]
  5. In my mind this campaign was a deliberate bait and switch scheme where they made it very attractive to take up an offering with a discounted rate, and once hooked they went to the fine print to now cash in. It will be hard to prove, but if enough people believe that Discovery were dishonest with this campaign, they may have to re-evaluate how they go about this.
  6. Discovery must have been at the same school as E-Tolls. The difference is that with E-Tolls no-one bought the bullsh! t of amnesty and a reduction of fees for those who register, mainly because we all have experience in dealing with state institutions. Now that they have gotten buy-in from so many members for their 'value added benefits' they can easily move the markers and pull everyone over a barrel. The perception out there is that this was done deliberately to sell Apple watches, seemingly with attractive benefits, only to pull the rug once they have reached their targets. It would be like FNB becoming a cellular service provider at competitive rates, only to double their rates with a months' notice. If Discovery had honourable intentions, they would have offered members some sort of buy-out of their Apple Watch contracts with <say> pay the balance by 2 April for the balance due on the agreement taken into consideration what your average cash back would have been based on your cash back data since you got your watch for the duration of the contract. Thankfully my wife never got her Apple Watch. She would have been seriously p!ssed off.
  7. Now if only we can get the New Zeeland medical and rugby fraternity to buy into this...
  8. I am all for the re-balance of the scales as it seemingly favoured cyclists, but then they need to take the rewards base points down as well. I am already on 1100 points a week goal which I achieve with ease, but come the winter months, It would be very hard to hit this week in and week out. I think their coffee and smoothie account was getting out of hand, so now they need to adjust. I agree with the sentiment that a minor adjustment now, and another closer to the renewal window would have been the more ethical thing to do, but lets be honest, integrity and insurance are not necessarily 2 words we use in the same sentence.
  9. Phangiso making headlines again. A part of me wants him to fail the second test as well. The team can do without the distraction of having to babysit him when they go to the T20 WC.
  10. I like the new direction the event is taking. We already have an Epic for the ouens who wants bragging rights. Joberg2c has picked up immensely due to the enjoyment factor involved, and races like W2W with the focus on good routes, hospitality and reasonable ride times each day are fully subscribed. My 2016 calendar is quite full, but I'll have a serious look at 2017. The timing may not suite everyone, but for me it will work quite well. In 2013 I did BCBR in Canada. The longest day I had on the bike was around 6h30 minutes and it was still by far the best 7 days I've spent on a bike. With the focus seemingly shifting on more quality riding opposed to distance and vertical meters I am sure that they will soon have an event that will be fully subscribed.
  11. Every time I look at your profile pic, I want to straighten your helmet
  12. DH and XC should be much more TV and spectator friendly than marathon racing. You can cover so much with 6 or 7 stationary cameras and a drone or 2. Yet we have the hospitality zones packed at the marathon and half marathon races with spectators watching guys sprinting to the finish line. Blows my mind...
  13. I was standing there wondering how difficult it would be to make it more spectator friendly. A few IP based cameras at the gnarly bits, a beer tent and what looks like one huge security control room looking at all 6 cameras at once as the footage is streamed down while the guys make their way down the mountain could be a possibility. The only way to grow this is to get the people to come and watch (or watch it on TV / over the internet). With some refinement you could even get these edited and have a short TV insert.
  14. From a spectators point of view it was a bit frustrating. Delays (not sure why) meant that we left just after the ladies race. I liked the intimate vibe and the way the guys seemed genuinely pleased if another rider had a good run.
  15. The Stormers hit the ground running. The Bulls have work to do before hosting the Rebels. The Stormers will want to get one over the Cheetahs to create some early daylight for themselves in AC1.
  16. The Tjeetahs vs the Jags should be a cracker! Well if the game is boring, the fights at least will be memorable.
  17. No, the spectators stood up against an unlawful protest and things got out of hand when the spectator numbers swelled beyond the protester numbers. With a risk of the same at UCT during the Epic, there is nothing stopping BKA to mobilize to react in a similar fashion with a disruption by the Rhodesmustfall crowd during the Epic. A minimum requirement at the Epic would have been the riot squad, and thats a mood killer if there ever was one. It's not like they had to move it to another continent a la Dakar. http://youtu.be/cmuYGj5gVuM
  18. http://www.news24.com/SouthAfrica/News/ufs-to-investigate-disrupted-varsity-cup-match-20160223 There you go... we all knew it was only a matter of time before the Varsity Cup would be affected. Now that the moegoes have set their sights on the VC, is it still a bad call to move the Epic to a safer venue?
  19. We have jumped from 6th on the ICC T20 rankings to 2nd. India still has daylight at the top of the rankings, but a series win over Aus will cement us at 2nd for the T20 WC.
  20. It seems like AB wants to finish early today. Another 30 minutes of this and he'll be on the M1 back home.
  21. The irony... The very event that funds these trails also destroys them. Bennet does not pay the bills with our love of the trails alone, funds are also required and sone events contribute hugely towards the trails. The Epic are not known to pay much for trail use, so that also limits the number of suitable venues.
  22. correcto mundo. The way things have spilled over to Tuks I would not be surprised if OS find something to protest about soon.
  23. Wow! We've pulled it back nicely! Tahir and Wiese bowling particularly well.
  24. At ease soldier
