  1. I did insulation with therm guard last year. My roof area is fairly large (about 250m2) and the cost was surprisingly cheap. (About R9000). It took them a morning to do the installation, it was easy and clean and the nice thing is that it is possible to get into all the nooks and crannies in-between trusses and joints in the roof. I can really recommend it.
  2. When we play well the players are all brilliant (provided they play for our chosen Super Rugby franchises)... when we cock up, the coach is a total paluka...
  3. Nice to see the Vern back in action. We really missed him last season. I like the Kiwi's they play hard, but they play fair. They also seem to comfortably punch above their weight on many occasions.
  4. wonderful initiative from the W2W crew!
  5. Ok so did the politicians also show the kids how to look after the bikes? Can they patch a tube or lube a chain if needed? Did they get helmets and bicycle locks to protect them and their assets? Dropping bikes to these kids assists them for a few months tops. Thereafter I venture to guess that more than 80% of these bikes break down or are sold on. Its like handing out farms and not teaching people to farm.
  6. I tried to watch the awards ceremony last night. It was beyond bad! The whole production sucked big time. I can't believe that they forced some players to return for this from the CPL while others were away on SA-A team duties in any event. I agree that Rabada is a very bright prospect, and enjoyed that other young talent such as De Kock is also being recognised. They all deserved a better show than what was put on last night.
  7. just in time for the local elections. A free T Shirt and a Streetwise 2 is no longer enough to swing the vote in Gauteng it seems...
  8. Imagine every rider that is not a contender for any of the jerseys, or is not supporting a GC contender decides to pull out... I get that its an Olympic year and all that jazz, but team and event sponsors will surely take notice of this? Those saying that the individual stages are separate races, why is it then not allowed to skip a stage or 3 and then get back on the start line.
  9. Now at least we know what the default penalty is for this infringement. Next time a team should just say to the driver. "If we tell you, its going to be a 10 second penalty, is it worth it to know?". If you have this type of situation close to your pitstop, it might be better to pit, get fresh rubber and have the race engineer push the button for you on the steering wheel. It should take 2 or 3 seconds longer, not 10, and you are not p!zzing off Charlie in the process.
  10. Joey loves a scatter cushion. All the blankets belong to Phoebe.
  11. yet they weigh roughly the same. Got to love innovation in sport.
  12. Ok realistically we should finish second in the Championship if we play well. The Northern hemisphere have caught up in a big way. How will the South respond? A start would be to hold on to our players a bit longer. So much skills transfer is taking place from our Super Stars to young European players. And penalizing players who ply their trade elsewhere is not the answer, incentivizing those who remain is the way to go. We also need to fix the Super rugby setup. Its not working and it shows.
  13. Sublime bowling by Tahir. Windies all got starts, but somehow managed to get themselves out.
  14. Well played #. Another century and averaging close to 100 against the Windies. What a player!
  15. Amla and De Kock doing a fine job so far.
  16. The irony is that the same people that has called for quotas etc. not to be mingled with sport, is now calling for political intervention because they have a gripe with politics in sport. I wish these people would just vote with their own wallets and turn the TV off when the Boks are playing, and that they'll not buy the tickets to the games, and that they all burn their Springbok jerseys and be done with it. Old farts like Oosthuize is giving the Bok emblem a bad name.
  17. Rilee dislocated his shoulder, so Faf will surely play the next game. JP did not bowl yesterday, so Morris in for JP may be a good call to have another front line bowler. Now if Behardien was used more often to block up one end, we would have even more cover for JP's gentle off breaks.
  18. Pretty much the same as Pick n Pay all over the country charging the same for their no-name baked beans...
  19. Hopefully this will give Canondale and Shimano leave to cancel the agency agreements with these distributors and hopefully award more than 1 agency each in SA. On the bright side, this little indiscretion probably opened the door for Oom Chris and Chris Jnr. It is great that some saw an opportunity where others saw an obstacle.
  20. Here's a hack for you. Leave the HR monitor on, and remove the strap. Came across this by accident when I forgot to stop my Garmin Fenix 3 after a cadence session. I removed the HR strap to clean it, showered and when I wanted to look at what time it is, my watch was still running. I got 300 points instead of 100. Since then if I am within a few minutes of a goal, I remove the HR strap and stop my workout on 91 minutes instead of 89.
  21. I watched it. I just kept thinking that Kohli is way too tense. I'd hate to play for a captain that is that animated.
  22. One of the major issues I have with the way Vitality interprets and rewards fitness, is the notion that a week of no activity means you lose all your fitness. Why is there no additional reward for hitting your targets consecutively? Surely if you have reached (say) 10 weeks targets, your dedication and consistency should be rewarded? Consistency always beats intensity when it comes to base line fitness. Not everyone belongs to a gym and not everyone bought an Apple Watch, so even if they gave you an additional smoothie as reward, at least there is some acknowledgement of this. Furthermore there is no carry-over or carry-back once you have achieved your goal into the next week. If you are on 700 points and you are resting up for a big event, you may not hit your target in the following week. You smash a big event on the Saturday and get the max points, but the week before is recorded as "target not reached". Or lets say you have the flu and you rest for a week. The fact that you had 10 weeks of hitting your target should count for something as you don't start from scratch when you are clear to train 1 week on.
  23. The opportunity for Discovery seems obvious (not sure if this was mentioned before). Have a Vitality Pro section where members are charged a monthly premium to participate. On this platform allow members to submit information regarding their own maximum HR (an accredited VO2 max / similar report) and to also use other measurements to track fitness, such as calories burnt during an activity or power output where members are able to measure it. Reward Vitality Pro members with better rewards (discount at an online cycling retailer, or a national sports retailer, expanded discounted race entries etc.) to make it more attractive for the more serious athlete to participate. The take-up on this type of offering in itself will reveal a lot to Vitality, i.e. what their more serious athletes consider to be important training information, and this can be used to expand their normal Vitality offering.
  24. RIP Tony Cozier. I enjoyed your commentary and writing.
  25. ... this sh!t again... It seems like when they do not have anything constructive to add to politics in general they go off on the same old tirades. it is a poorly concealed attempt to try and divide black and white as they fear that the black vote will come around with the next round of elections. A better focus by the ANC would be to call for an enquiry into the Kings' financials as there seems to be another bail-out on the cards.
