  1. I thought gears might be the order of the day as I have not been getting much sleep as of late. The idea of a social SS ride is something I have also been toying with for some time now ... just can't decide on a good venue that would allow SS newbies to not die on the climbs.
  2. the fat guy in the Coronation kit
  3. Oh ... the all important coffee stop
  4. A loop around the mountain would be a real special trail. As you say it would not be an impossible task. The Table Mountain Biker boys and girls are doing some good work towards eventually reaching this goal! https://www.bikehub.co.za/f/60-table-mountain-bikers/
  5. Thanks An3, but with that stand all you can do is let your bike stand in the rack and will not be able to do some basic mechanical works to the gears and / or rear brakes.
  6. Hi all William from William's Bike Shop in Sommerset West has confirmed the new Hold Fast 1 stands to accomodate the bigger wheel format and they are just short of R150.00 from his store ... oh he also has stock
  7. The sad thing is Scuzzy that every year we hear the same old complaints RE the goodie bag, yet nobody there seems to give a damn.
  8. I have tried 2 x different bikes in the stands mentioned already. All to no avail.
  9. I have a std holdfast one and a D.I.Y one that I was given. Both suffer from clearance issues between the tyre and the floor. I can get the bike in the stand and store it like that, but there is no hope in hell I can free wheel the rear wheel to check brake alignment or gear set up. I have a 2.25" tyre on there too, so it would also compound issues.
  10. Ok, so have any of the companies that make these gone out and made a slightly taller stand to accomodate for the larger wheel dia. It is impossible to use a std one now and do basic gear setting, etc where you need to have the rear wheel moving freely. Attached is a pic of a typical stand in question for those who are not certain RE I am talking about.

  13. I think what we are all saying is that you might be in for a world of pain and disappointment should you pursue this project. This based on our utterly professional expertise with decades of hands on experience designing and developing bicycles.
  14. I had to google "a flock of Seagulls haircut" and now I am sorry that I did http://cdn2-b.examiner.com/sites/default/files/styles/image_full_width/hash/50/fe/50fe42c01910a43c8c10052317fe014d.jpg
  15. Thanks ... but what were you riding as I cycled with three guys this morning at different sections of the lane.
  16. I have no personal experience, but have seen some of the work done by these guys http://salvobmx.blogspot.com/ in Parow, Cape Town.... Good Luck with the project
  17. True a proper cyclocross bike has decent brakes and I am not certain std roadie brakes would work on a wider tyre .... but then again this is a track frame so would not have any brake bosses at all then!
  18. IF A DEAF CHILD SIGNS SWEAR WORDS, DOES HIS MOTHER WASH HIS HANDS WITH SOAP?
  19. That can only be answered by yourself knowing your skill levels. Make sure that track frame can take a wider profile / knobbly tyre ....
  20. There was a nice interview with him in the SA Bicycling Mag and loved the way he came across. Condolences to his family and loved ones.
  21. I always carry an old drivers license with me and or my blood donor card when cycling.
  22. Dangle that Niner fork is nice, but keep it real with a Ritchey Carbon fork instead.
