  1. Im glad I got my spot, woohoo!! Jis im looking forward, might have to strap a cancellara style motor to my mtb but i'll make a plan
  2. After our ride yesterday my brain is just thinking food, so all my Jeremy Clarkson style metaphors this morning include a reference to it, hahaha.
  3. Dont go to Ocean Basket and complain that there's only fish on the menu... Anything in the Magalies area is gonna be tough. The area is rocky and hilly no matter what direction you head in (apart from the schweet singletrack by the river) Hope you guys had a great ride!!
  4. Dont you know theHub by now...the only response you'll get is "Go with whatever you like" That or some snotty reply not really saying anything...like this one (PS no idea on the cranks, good luck)
  5. Luckily we're going for the riding ne...
  6. So is that the plan for next year?
  7. I heard its hilly, so i changed it ok?! (EDIT: Changed thx! )
  8. Yip, by the sounds of it 2011 is gonna be a hectic year for you, Barbie! But yeah, start support group here - "MTB Addicts Not-So-Anonymous"...other people use Decembers for holidays aparently...crazy i know.
  9. This is gearing up to be an awesome weekend...who else is going? (The original event thread - https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/87414-misty-valley-training-camp/page__p__1194616__hl__misty__fromsearch__1#entry1194616)
  10. Yeah Ive stopped kidding myself, when there is an event like this I dont plan to race the next day, did it in the past and was stupid. Now we'll chill the next day and go have some fun on the road race on the Sunday.
  11. Did the double last year, was great, this year skipping on the mtb because of 30secs to Mars the night before...
  12. Easy peasy hey, just wipe em down and they look like new. A great buy IMO. Airbender where did you order from CRC?
  13. I love my white shoes, Ive been sporting these since Feb.
  14. Cant someone start a list? Im in M.
  15. It isnt better, some of my buddies only do short races and i cant keep up. But the longer the race becomes the more dedicated you have to be to the details of MTBing. Pedal efficiency becomes a major issue, tire pressures matter, nutrition is a deal maker or breaker. In other words all the facets of mtb-ing become important where the short races you can throw away Joe Friels training bible and just hammer it (well sort off). It depends on what you like, some people love the wam-bam-thank-you-mam way of racing, but most okes chatting on cycling forums for 6days non-stop about the pros and cons of latex based tubless sealant tend to enjoy the technicalities of the longer rides. And thats it.
  16. Not fair. *Throws hissy fit of epic proportions.
  17. After a couple of long races (Magalies/Hill2Hill) my left ITB was killing me, read up a bit and stated that it can also be as a result of misaligned cleats, checked and mine 'looks' fine, but perhaps something to check.
  18. Cool, saw the results on Hill2Hill website, thanks. Anybody know where we gonna see photos?
  19. results? see ROAG doesnt have it on (yet)?
  20. Awesome Im doing Sabie X as well. Now that is going to be awesome. Ive done Sabbie Classic and it was the best ride Ive ever done.
  21. What stage race you doing? Its amazing the levels you go up when u start training for stages. We're so conditioned in thinking that our body needs immediate recovery that we never train hard on consecutive days, you know the typical program, intervals, recovery, long ride, recovery until you're forced to and its amazing how your body adapts.
  22. In some cases when ur HR hits a roof and doesnt go over its more likely as a result of fatigue/over training. Rest up a couple of days and it should be back to normal. At stage races here by day 3 it takes you hours to get ur HR up above 80%. Probably a defense mech as you say.
  23. Hey guy The problem with these general queries is that there are so many variables - - Genetics - Age - Fitness - Form - Route type / Distance - The direction the wind is blowing that day (ok kiddding on that one) But seriously it varies extremely between ppl. My average HR during a race since the day I started cycling hasnt really changed because I ride at the same type of intensity, buy my avgerage speed has just increased. Rather than aiming for an average I break the race up in three parts 0 - 1/3: keep HR around 80% 1/3 - 2/3: Keep HR around 85% 2/3 to finish: balls to the wall. Normally this averages out at about 87-88% which is about 175-178bpm.
  24. 1st - Steve put away those calves, Im about to cry. 2nd - Bike taking me to Krugersdorp for the Silverstar race. Looking forward.
  25. Welcome to the hub - quick rules 1. You are not allowed to have any reasoning behind you opinions 2. Always post pics when discussing something, even if its your mate's bike (especially if its your mate's sister) 3. When selling your bike and posting a pic, it better be on the couch 4. Correct any marginally incorrect grammar or spelling at will 5. Always go tubeless 6. If your CRC cost is higher than your FPC or CWC costs some okes will want to give you a PK, dont worry 7. Enjoy!!
