    Emperors Race

Must say I had fun at this one, even way back in IL! Had a nice bunch of guys working well, with some attempts at break-aways in the last 5km, ended up 3rd in the group in 2h41. Cool (and cold) ride!!

  7. I wouldn't have believed you after Sabie, but does seem so
  8. The Lance_Oprah drinking game - "Beat Cancer" = 1 Shot of Tequila "Greatest cyclist in the world" = 2 Shots of Tequila "Most tested athlete in the world" = Down beer "One testicle" = Down beer and take a shot of tequila "Sheryl Cole made me do it" = Snort shot of tequila "Im guilty, I doped like a mofo" = Shoot yourself * Feel free to add
  9. I will be joining the JHB ride tonight at 6pm, but will also join should a national scale ride be organized. Whatever ride you choose gents, please please please remember why we do this. For awareness and to honour our hero. Getting annoyed with taxis and or vehicles will only make the situation worse. Lets keep it clean. RIP Burry
  10. Heart is still sore since we heard last night. He will always be our local hero. RIP Burry.

    2013 MTB Calendar

Not just worthwile ... I must!! Done 4 of em (2 half marathons, 1 marathon and the ultra last year) The climb is just epic but once you start heading through the valley you realise how special the race is.
  12. Last year a lady from HH had the best female time...like AM says - different ball game than riding elites (pardon the pun)
  13. Im guessing a cow perhaps....could be. (The choc kind not the dairy kind)
  14. A lot can happen in a year.
  15. Keep that approach / mentality going and you'll do great! Good luck dude!
  16. Typical JC - legend dude..
  17. Only saw this now, was also an E-groupie but not up front type of speed, missed my sub 2h50 target. Wind was poopoo. Nice ride still.
  18. Natural ability is a beeatch! My mate packs on between 12-15kgs more than me, we both do similar training and he whoops my ass....always. I hate you mother nature.
  19. I did this year's on a 96-1000D (with a new SID I must add). So I'd keep the bike and spend the cash on the mechanical and physio packages. (trust me you're not going to be in the mood to fiddle with your bike after multiple 8hr days) Some thoughts (use it dont use it) - Tech skills are important, passed a LOT of eurpoean riders on the Dhs and singletrack, but I suffered on the climbs. My team mate was much stronger with less skill and he smiled all the way. My training ranged between 12-20hrs a week and finished 280th odd. You will hate life. You will hate your bike. You will wonder WhyTF you thought of doing this to yourself. It will be one of the greatest experiences of your life. Enjoy.
  20. From CRC... Frame till on route from China...

    Joberg2C

R24600 per team, not sure what it will be for 2013. But my word what an event!! Best 9 days I've spent on a bike! Loved every second! Congrats to the organisers for putting together a race that focusses on the rider.
  24. Ok kids, just an update: Epic DONE : GC finish : 284 Joberg2c DONE : GC Finish: 96 What a awesome time on the bike!!
  25. Haha, have to laugh, that's such a typical hub reply, missing the point of my post. "Cred is cool" meaning - Cool for me. Yes I enjoy the people asking how Epic was and the pat on the shoulder for finishing, don't claim to be high and mighty. And as in my original post there is a BUT carrying the message to my main point : It's for myself really! So I value that sticker just as much on my solo training rides, reminding me that with hard work I can do anything.
