  1. Johan we will be taking on the Enduro agency and should have initial stock arriving within the month. If you need anything in the future we should have most of the "specific" bearings. Let me know if you need anything down te line: -- Andre van Aarde Rush Sports Pty Ltd www.rushsports.co.za Tel: +27 33 346-2300 Mail: andre@rushsports.co.za
  2. I think the more events of this nature we can have the better! BMX is happening, look at Sifiso's results, XC is happening, look at Burry's results, DH is happening, look at Needles and Greg's results. Cycling, and particularly that of rougher, dertier nature is really begging to get some light shed on it. Hopefully we can continue to make it work and get behind events such as these... rant over
  3. Its such a fantastic opportunity to see the Worlds greatest MTB riders mixing it up on local soil. I mean we have the Cape Epic but how much spectating is there really? The XC at Cascades was one of the most impressive World Cup CX races I have EVER seen, it was great for spectators, lots of vantage points, lots of action and great riding. Soccer what? Bring on PMB World Cup 2010
  4. Yep, thats right, love it or hate it UCI must rate it: linky
  5. Chuch Norris doesn't need cavitation to break a beer bottle, simply his focused thought!
  6. Hey guys, still waiting on some contact info's, please PM me with email addy and mobile? I am searching the diary todaday to put together a few dates and we can take things from there. I will send you the full plans and possible dates shortly after receiving the contact info's. Cheers, -- Andre
  7. Hey Standoff, hoping to have them available from mid to end of December. Check the Morewood and Rush Sports blogs to keep up with the progress.
  8. And the quote's of the weekend: "Rad downhill bike!" "Where is the engine?"
  9. thought you may appreciate that. now I just need to find out how much Nissan SA will sell me their dyno for... hmmm...
  10. If you guys wouldn't mind PM'ing me your contact details I would be happy to put something together. I have a training camp coming up towards the end of June but there are many weekends between now and then and the trails are ripe for riding and testing.
  11. don't believe it cavitation? check out the links below to some AMAZING video's by Roehrig, leading suspension dyno MFG's out of North Carolina: http://www.suspensionhotline.com/dyn...ear_shock2.wmv and http://www.suspensionhotline.com/dyn...ear_shock1.wmv I'm sure you'll love that Mr Lefty
  12. Hey Nik, just tried to send you a PM but your box is full. Don't want to pee on the good doctors parade but I would be happy to put something together for you guys should you be interested. I'm KZN based [most of the time] so we could have a few options and work straight out of our workshop.
  13. Lefty you like the link? I think what we are confusing here is that oil is not oil when it comes to most bicycle forks and shocks. You must remember that the volumes used in bicycles [generally speaking] is so tiny that even the slightest contamination can have a severely negative effect on suspension performance and damping. Some suspension MFG's who I have spoken to have scoffed at many of the "leading" bicycle fork and shock designs because of the small amount of fluid used. Secondly there is another significant factor to take into account, despite the fact that most bicycle suspension MFG's use fluid within the legs as lubrication for the lowers/ stanchions and bushings, the forc cartridge itself is without lubrication save for what should be damping fluid. This means that forks and shocks are relying on their damping fluid to provide lubricating properties in addition to superior damping given the tiny volume and flow. this = MAJOR PROBLEM I think given the above there is huge value in spending a little extra money on suspension fluid, do your research, get the correct weight and ensure when you are working on your fork or shock you are using immaculately clean surfaces, lint free rags and residue free cleaners and solvents.
  14. Racer X you're right on the money with the setup but I don't think the pricing will be too bad when comparing apples with apples, you're comparing a carbon crank t a hollow-forged Ali... I'd shell out the extra $$ [if I had it] as for the cassette... I think SRAM are FINALLY making a cassette that can compete with the likes of Shimano. not sure the fork is worth the 100g weight saving. carbon crown/ steerers look awesome but from expecrience with the previous sid and reba WC's... I'll stick with mine for now
  15. look no further: http://www.peterverdonedesigns.com/bikesuspension.htm I will soon be running a wiki style tech section on Rushsports.co.za will be a great place to keep and search for all of this info. morewoodkid2009-05-27 06:42:12
  16. for my 2c wort: 1c: firstly don't confuse DMC as the shared title sponsor of the World Cup with their MTB racing team. what is in discussion here is their payment or non payment of the sponsorship fees owed to the World Cup organisers. 2c: this is a public forum, EVERYTHING on here MUST be true!
  17. eish, prices are pretty crazy. well, July availability means delivery here in bits and pieces around September [hopefully] so it will be interesting to see how the exchange rate has a handle on this stuff...
  18. you have to admit the hydraulic lockout is the way forward!
  19. lol, nice one. I have a little more info on the group which I will let out a little later in the week regarding some more specifics. enjoy
  20. For those of you who have been waiting patiently... some of us have been waiting to blurt. Finally the time has some, check out the new SRAM XX groupset images, details and weights here: www.rushsports.co.za
  21. pricing atthis point in time is a little premature as there is no word from the exchange rate gods to say how the rand will be trading against the dollar come december. Although we are in a country who have ZAR as their main currency, everyone seems bent on basing their pricing on this wonderous US$: raw materials, suspension, components. the plan is to come in somewhere in-line with the current Shova pricing so it would see a frame and rear shock somewhere in the R14500.00 area. No details on the hardtail price as yet.
  22. Nice one Sean, beat me to it Seems we are finally generating a bit of interest in the weight weenie side of the sport. So, some slightly more offcial info: > Roan's frame is a medium, the first medium marathon frame to come out of the Morewood factory [Davie's should be completed today] > Large frame weighs in at 2.3kg including all hardware, seatclamp and rear shock [Fox RP23] > All tubes are custom drawn, shaped and butted for Morewood and will be exclusive to Morewood. > Frame will be available in three different sizes: small; medium; large and should be available towards the middle to end of December in limited quantities. > Cable routing is intended to go down the down-tube, under the BB and along the chainstay, however will run a continious front gear outer to prevent premature contamination. > All frame sizes will have sufficient room for a bottle cage within the front triangle. > Travel is spot on 100mm/ 4", intended fork travel is 100mm/ 4" Check the media/ press for more dedails and comments.
  23. Two reasons: 1: Clearance' date=' mounted this way there is more clearance for a water bottle [which is pretty tight as it is'] 2.) Believe it or not the lighter side of the shock is the aircan side as this is the side which holds the air spring. It makes more sense for this to be on the swingarm and doing all of the moving and shaking. Note: You will see on the newer bikes that this has changed, this is mosty due to this very question
  24. Roan and Davey are indeed sponsored by Morewood this year, as top notch XC and Marathon riders who have heaps of experience coupled with Roan's engineering background they are the perfect team for product development to assist in developing, prototyping and bringing to market Morewood's first XC/ Marathon line of frames. On the drawing board at the moment there is both a 100mm full sus "marathon" frame as well as a hardtail "XC" frame. The frames Roan and Dave are on at the moment are merely blanks hence the lack of branding, unfortunately due to some delays in prototyping of specific parts Morewood we not able to get fully frames together in time for the Epic, but they should be out and about on the new product in the next few weeks. Certainly in time for the Continental Champs. Its not certain yet when the frames will be brought to market, but the goal is to launch them in SA in time for Epic shoppers in 2010. I am currently working on a "premium" build which we will offer mimicking the team bikes which Roan and Dave are on, pricing at this stage is impossible to peg but expect something with the new SRAM goodies to be available next year in addition to the frame only options we have had with frames in the past.
  25. World Class? Will you be working from Tweede Kamp?
