  5. Some feed back on this would be muchly appreciated!! Im on the market for a road bike. While I owuld love a carbon dura ace steed, my measly budget of +-R12 - R13k is'nt going to allow for it, well at least new anyways. So besides searching thehub for good deals, here are my options new. 1. 2009 raleigh rc6000 full 105, carbon fork and rear seat stays, mavic aksiums wheels 2. Felt f85, carbon fork, 105 groupo, mavic wheels (but not aksiums, and an FSA crank 3. Merida 904 full 105, alex rims wheels Thats about it in my price range. Any suggestions???
  6. I rode the 56km race today, and I thought the water points were great. I mean they even had vetkoek on offer (which i politely said no to in lieu of a piesang!!!). The water point just before ''sorry'' had the most delcious naartjie flavoured game which made me feel like I was 6 years old. And you know what?? It tastes better than ANYTHING out there. There is alot to be said for the good old fashioned drinks. We all drink these enhanced drinks but at the end of the day comon, its all just sugar is'nt it?? I think Im done spending R200+ on a tub of ''fancy sugar'' and in future I'm just gonna go for game/energade.
  7. My 2 cents. I got the polar f6. It is rather basic but it does show your heart rate as a % of maximum. I use it for running as well, so for the bike I got a bike mount for R100bucks. There are some seriously advanced ones out there so i gues it depends what you looking for. I wanted something entry level that would keep track of my sessions. I paid roughly 1400 for it.
  8. So after creating this thread, I thought it would only be fair to let everyone know how my inevitable conversion went. Decided to go for the geax saguaro, as the conti's were a lil soft and looked like I was gonna replace them real soon. The bike sho converted my rims with joe's strips, and have'nt had an issue yet. Went riding with them yesterday, and instantly noticed the softer ride. No puncture experiences yet but im sure they will come.
  9. Ja they still there. Selling beauts I may add. Is a yeti a yuppie bike??? Or it it actually worth the cesh???
  10. Ok, bringing back an old thread, but Im gonna drop the wheels off at the LBS today. Final Questions: 1. I weigh 90kg's, will this affect the tubeless?? 2. Which tyres??? I am considering a mountain king upfront and a race king at the back???
  11. My 2 cents, I was in the market for a saddle, and ended up with a selle italia, but a gobi was i the running. Spoke to the agents here in JHB and the were FANTASTIC. They sent a trial saddle to a bike shop for me, and gave such good service and advice. So for what its worth give them a call, Im sure they will sort it out, based on my experiences anyways.
  12. Hey all, Was just wondering if there are any good group rides going down on the 24th. I live in Sandton, but dont mind doing a bit of travelling. MTB of course
  13. I think thats what I meant
  14. Rad, the most popular setup that Ive seen around is a conti mountain king on front and a speed king on the back. Would anyone else agree??
  15. bye bye cassette, most recently my chain lasted 800km's, and then when i put a new chain on SLIP SLIP SLIP. I do however think the problem was riding a worn chain which killed my cassette. So, now I have a new chain and cassette as well as a chain checker!! I check the chain all the time and as soon as it hits 0.75 - in the bin. Hopefullys this saves me some rands and cents in the long run

  19. So in conclusion (for me anyways) 1. XT rims 2. UST tyres (not sure which one so recomensation welcome) 3. Sealant Thats all I need??
  20. r tubeless ready rims far superior?? Im not keen for ''burpig'' and all the other horror stories ive ready about! sealent then performs the same function as slim in tubes??
  21. r those XT rims tubeless ready????
  22. rad006 i gather u have a lbs???
  23. nothing?
  24. I've been riding my hardtail for nearly 1000km's and the back tyre is starting to look a little smooth. So..... Everywhere I look and everyone I talk to is using tubeless. Is it really really worth it?? I have'nt had any issues with some slime in my tubes and good old tyre liners. I dont have tubeless ready rims so I would have to get a strip. One last thing, I live in Gauteng, what are the opinions as to the best tyre combinations for the climate?? Thanks!!!!
  25. correct
