  1. MY experience is that a bunch of arrogant blokes who are only interested in helping you if you actually interested in buying something and are not browsing. I dont understand why they mark their products up so much and then drop the price 20% which is basically the SRP. Bunch of bloody crooks. Would much rather go to Achter at solomons in woodmead. Hes got just as much and he a good oke, who always gives a discount if u ask
  2. Ok heres my tip. I used to go to the late Reg Park for personal training up until he passed away almost 2 years ago. For those who have'nt heard of him he won Mr unvierse 3 times back in the 50's and 60's and was also the trainer of Aaaarnold. He acted as hercules in the movies. He had a crazy theory about calf muscles. Now plesae bear in mind that he had a knowledge about muscles second to none and used to do demostrations for anatomy students! So.... he said that calf muscles were particular tough to get anything out of, ie size and definition. Therefore they need to be worked harder, similar to his theory on biceps as well. He used to preapre a mixture of hot water and olive oil, and used to massage his calves with it at the end of every day. He said that they reacted better when he did this. As for excercises, seated and standing calf raises (4 sets of 20 reps as heavy as you can go). You can also do calf raises with a barbel on ur shoulders and do calf raises. hope this helps Check out www.regpark.net noche2010-02-04 01:24:32
  3. I just read an email about a guy who they attempted to jack on main road, he road off and they took a couple pot shots at him! Hit his juice bottle. I cant believe what this town is coming to. Im definately off to the cape next year. Screw the drop in pay, at least Ill be able to ride my bicycle in peace. But there is a lesson to be learned from E.T's experience.........we just CANNOT RIDE ALONE EVER EVER EVER EVER. Its become way too risky.
  4. hey mercystorm c u there in group GL
  5. Hi Guys, I just got off the phone to Wynand the race organiser. I sent him an email voicing my concerns RE the potholes, because I for one would rather not ride than G-D forbid fall and risk injuries. He responded by asking me for my phone number and gave me a ring personally (which I think was good on him!) He said a gent Mark Thys (who I dont know but several of you may) has a company called Tarmac and on Thurs he will drive the route and fill the potholes. Wynand is fully aware of the bad section when we turn left toward Tsakane (apparently 1km of potholes) and on JetPark road there is apparently 1 biggy. So big up on Wynan for phoning me personally and letting me know that he is aware and that they will be filled with tar on Thurs. This makes me alot more comfy as I was seriously considering canning the whole idea of racing. Have a good day.
  6. Ive entered this race and see I have a 06h50 start time. Is this even a good race? Never done it before and now Im unsure after reading all the comments on this thread! Thanks guys
  7. I was in a similar boat a few months ago. It was a choice between the conti mountain/race kings and the geax saguaro. The LBS mentioned that the conti's wore alot wuicker and for that reason I decided against them and went for the geax's. So far they have been fantastic, little rolling resistance even when on tar, great traction in the mud as well. So from my point of view Id go geax.
  8. Thanks for the advice. Anyone else care to share their thoughts?

  10. Afternoon! Ive been riding MTB for a bit longer than a year now, and Im very keen to get a full susser. So far the bike that has caught my attention is the giant anthem x. From what I have read on the net in the form of reviews, is that its a great bike. No-one really had anything to complain about. Im planning on buying the frame and builidng it up as I have good components on my hardtail, and its more fun So my question is.........for anyone out their that may have a giant anthem, have you been happy with the ride, maintenance etc?? And for anyone who does'nt have an anthem, what bike would you recomend I get?? Cheers

ahhh Mr Tim, how r u youg man?? Ja the ride was great, but those spez speedos are *** to the max!! This is number 3!!! Think I should send an email to the suppliers. Gotta decide on a new one coz I cant get it fixed. Think I might get the sigma wireless for the MTB and something with cadence for the road. But then something is telling me to get the polar rs8000, but I have a polar arghhhhhh

hey slowbee would'nbt that make it 400 bucks?? Dont you wanna take the F6 and the strap off me, its in great nick and I have the box
  15. so after going through 3 specialized speedos, I have realised that they are of a rubish quality. The buttons seize up with the slightest hint of mud. So basically im looking for a new one which I can alternate between the road bike and the mtb. I currently have cadence on my road bike and would like to keep it as well. Also I have a polar F6 so not sure if im so keen on a new fancy polar. Any suggestions???
  16. I just spent the last 3 weeks in the western cape on holiday. During that I cycled every second day, mostly alone, but never once did I feel threatened. Sure I did routes like harkerville and petrus se brand, but NF is the equivalent up here (as far as traffic goes). One thing I will say, is that residents of the WC are far more relaxed. Sure there is crime, but if you compare it to up here, its virtually non existent. Im young (26) and Ive decided that RSA is my home. However JHB is just no place that I would like to bring a family up in. People here have absolutely no egard for life and each other. My last hope for RSA is to move to the WC in search of a less crime ridden city. I refuse to bring up my kids here anymore, this place is totally out of hand. And as for the 'potential' salary sacrifice, keep th 10% extra I'd get here, Id rather live a peacefull life. This story about NF has devastated me. I normally ride with people but there are the time that I have to ride alone and I pick NF. Ill think twice about going alone.!!
  17. I was there for the last 2 weeks. Rode it 5 times as well as 3 rides to surrounding areas. I can honestly say that its the most diverse trail I have ever ridden, and it was such a treat compared to what we get up here in gauteng. I also rode the petrus se brand cycle route which was even better than herkerville (beleive it or not)
  18. hey all, just wanted to find out if there are any interesting MTB rides planned for wednesday the public holiday in and around jhb or pta for that matter, which I could possibly join up with?? cheers!!
  19. Firstly let me start off by saying that I am a die hard oakley fan and was reluctant to buy the Rudy's, however at the price and the apparent value for mney, it was a no brainer. BTW I also got them from CWC. 1. They are super comfortable and you can adjust the nose piece and the sides VERY VERY easily. 2. The photohromatic lenses work fantastically well. They dont go dark enough to weld metal but it will suffice for cycling more than adequately. 3. They do fog up when you stop but so does every other lens Ive ever seen. Go get them, I promise you wont regret it!!
  20. Hey Swissvan, Dont know if you will want to answer this on the forum, but out of curiosity, how much did you pay for the zula frame?? Great looking frame!!! Enjoy it bud noche2009-12-11 08:01:30
  21. Just cleaned my bike and did the mandatory chain check to see its at the 0.75 wear level with a very tight squeeze. So the question is, is it time to replace the chain or can I wait until its a perfect fit for the chain checker? Im a bit annoyed as the chain has only done 600km's, which is nothing. Any advice is appreciated
  22. Look no further than the rudy project rydons with photochromatic lenses from CWC for R1600. Literally bullet proof!! Get them, you wont regret......trust
