  1. Firstly your spelling is off...............road not raod Secondly I wouldn't help you either if you firstly never bought the helmet from my store and secondly never bought it in RSA. They should have however listened to all the facts and advised you accordingly even if the advice was to go speak to the USA as its effectively a grey import. Unfortunately that is the world and country we live in. If I were you I would do as suggested above and send a mail to USA explaining what happened and see what they say. It really sucks coz those helmets are R2.5k new assuming its the s-works.
  2. I would think heat would make a tyre softer and more pliable. Think about F1 where they heat the tyres up with those blankets, so they come up to optimal heat more quickly which increases the grip. That being said old age is old age and your tyre may just be overs.
  3. Agreed Its he end of January and their website still has the 2011 bikes on it. That is just ridiculous and inexcusable given the competitive nature of the manufacturing market.
  4. Drooooooooooooooool There is my new wishlist. Would love to get my hands on that HT. Looks super sweet. The guy is seriously dialed in on geometry.

Well dissected. I was 1 minute slower despite putting in a lot of effort into my swimming over the last year. Several of my mates were also slower than previous years and also put in a ton of training. I did the clifton mile a few weeks ago in roughly 8 minutes less than 70.3. There is no way that it takes me 8 minutes to swim 300m. I am not that slow. Seems like the only explanation is that the swim route was slightly longer than 1900. Notwithstanding the above, it was a great day out and I have already entered for next year. I think the organisers have to increase the number of waves. That swim start for wave 2 was ridiculous. What was going on around buoy 1 was insane. I am not saying that it wont happen in a smaller wave, but when 1100 competitive souls rush toward one turn its a recipe for disaster. I think one guy popped his shoulder at the turn and that was his day over. If their main concern is safety, then they really need to reconsider the number of waves, because wave 2 was far from safe IMHO.

Must agree with the drafting comments. At times it felt as If I was riding a bike race the groups were so big. I think we should be allowed to use both lanes, that way less people will draft. Yes its an issue with emergency vehicles and ref's who use the right hand lane, but they can hoot or something for the cyclist to get out the way. There is no other way aroundit as the numbers are too large.

My day had some serious mixed emotions S - 33:13 B - 2:58:08 R - 2:15:10 T1 - 28:18 T2: 2:59 Total - 6:17:48 To put the T1 time into perspective, 3k's into my ride I realized my timing chip was gone! Needless to say I freaked out and turned around back to transition to collect a new chip and carry on. That cost me probably 25mins plus quite a bit of extra energy to get back, run around transition like a headless chicken looking for my bag, then run down to the swim start to get a new chip and run back up that transition hill to get back to my bike. Ended up pushing a bit too hard on the ride to make up for it and BLEW on the run. That being said, if I discount the f$#% up of losing my chip, I bettered last year's time albeit by a few minutes. Things I learnt 1. Even your c..k needs antichafe cream. 2. Its possible to ride the bike leg without a timing chip and to get a new one when you get back to transition 3. A great race strategy (learnt it on the second lap of the run) is to run from waterpoint to waterpoint. Much easier chunks to manage. 4. Full Ironman is for the crazy and the unloved All in all, it was a great event and I had an absolute jol. Will definitely be back next year and Ill place a ton of emphasis on my running.
  9. Road cycling in JHB is a big no no in my mind. Too many cars and too many aggressive a..holes behind the wheels. Unless you stick to "safer" areas such as the cradle or ride in big groups where cars are forced to slow down and drive carefully. Riding in groups of 2 or 3 is asking for trouble. This is so damn sad. The poor family that has been left behind.
  10. TIA In Europe cars will wait behind a cyclist for a few k's until its safe to overtake. If you knock a cyclist down, you might as well walk the plank because its game over for you. When will people wake up and realize that an extra 10 seconds is not gonna make a difference in your life. Have some damn patience and drive according to the rules of the road. If everyone just obeyed the rules then we wouldn't have such an issue. That is also two fold because cyclists are the own worst enemies in that sense.
  11. Camps bay is the dodgiest part of any ride heading out toward Hout Bay or coming back. I generally ride like an ass through there and stick in the middle of the road and only move if a car is behind me. It the only way to prevent slamming into a driver opening their door or someone pulling out of a parking. Hope he heals up quick.

Thanks Stevie L. Great report barring the damn water temperature. Lucky I did the Clifton Mile on New years day to get in some cold water practice that was 10deg and it was pretty scary. Wow, I'm getting nervous now!!!

I used a bottle cap Was a rough night that. They have the most awesome tree-house there you have and will ever see in your life. A view that cannot be described. Lets just say that I had about 6 too many beers that night and it all started in that tree-house!

Last year I did a 1h54 our and a 1h14 back Thats 40mins quicker. Hoping for the same this year, maybe 10 minutes off the total bike split. In the end it all comes down to the good old run.
  20. Rydogg Long time bud. How u doing? We still been riding the normal days. Where u been? Keen for the odd chappies run, but gotta be at work at a reasonable hour. How long u reckon the chappies run will take?

That's ridiculously warm. Bordering on unpleasant! Check out windguru http://www.windguru....ex.php?sc=51681 Weather looks to be overcast early with some light rain which will clear. Sounds like it will be similar to last year, maybe a bit warmer and dryer. Here's hoping
