  1. I was there! Waiting on the corner of marias and beach. See you tomorrow?
  2. The pic earlier did no justice. This is better
  3. Wow That's the best article I think I've read the whole year. Such an awesome story of a company who stick to their values and don't chase down the $ at every opportunity. It will be interesting to see how they survive the next few years. Think my next bike might just have to have Campag!
  4. With difficulty. Dude go get a proper setup and then you can eliminate setup being the issue. It will cost you a few bucks but well worth it.
  5. You should probably have a proper fitment done to rule out a fitment issue. As a yardstick though, there should be a 30deg bend in your leg with your ankle parallel to the ground. Where do you live? When I lived in jhb I went to mike at SBR sport in sunninghill. He does an awesome fully comprehensive fitment and is very knowledgeable and well priced.
  6. Check your saddle height. There should be roughly a 30deg bend in your leg at the bottom of the pedal stroke.
  7. A mate of mine bought a garmin, did the whole 220 - age story etc Went for a run and his heart rate was 220 something. He naturally freaked out, went to a cardiologist who told him exactly what I have just told you. I was the opposite. My max according to the formula is 192, but if I get to 180 i fell like I want to die. Everyone's heart rate is different, like DNA different. Do yourself a favor and try find a 100m hill. Running spikes your heart rate much quicker than cycling. You can try the same thing on a bike but running will give you a better value IMHO.
  8. That formula is a load of nonsense. Just google max heart rate and you should find a few hundred articles telling you why. But briefly, it was designed for patients recovering from heart surgery so as not to do anything that would compromise their surgery. Max heart rate can be off by up to 20bpm using that formula. Best way is to find a 100m and give it all you got 4/5 times and take the highest reading from that and that my friend is your max. Alternatively you can pay some $$$ and head to a sports science institute or a cardiologist and have a mx heart rate test. The hill thing works best!
  9. Used to have that exact watch. Came off while swimming one year in durban. What pretty bummed. Did land up getting the hyper aqualand, so ended well in the end.
  10. Keep us in the loop. Sounds like a plan!
  11. I haven't done it. Sounds like it should be a blast. Coast would be my vote. Road or mtb?
  12. Complete cyclist in Bryanston stock them
  13. The age old debate. How boring! Bottom line is that 95% of it still comes down to how much you train and how good you are technically. You can buy whatever bike you want, if you dont train and put in the hours, no bike will help you. I am not professing to be a world champion cyclist, but I must admit there is nothing as satisfying as passing someone on a 29er, I smile just thinking of it That being said, I will agree with the comment made above and the next time I am in the market for a MTB it will be one with 29inch wheels. Until then, my Zula will do the trick just fine me thinks!
  14. Yeah they wear down seriously quickly. Too expensive to ride with those all the time. Bit of a mission swapping out brake pads every time you swap wheels, but hey, would be worse
  15. Any takers for tom? Going for an easy one due to the DC this weekend
  16. U tried taking them out and giving them a good clean? Maybe its just dust build up I have heard that certain brake pads are more prone to squeeling but surely xtr are the bees knees of brake pads?
  17. I've been running the yellow swisstops. They work great, but doesn't seem like they will last very long. Another reason why these are race wheels only.
  18. What brake pads are you using?
  19. Great opportunity dude! Best of luck. Like you said, pricing is paramount and the only other handmade Italian bikes are very $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ So if you can undercut them and showcase the brand well, you're in!
  20. A bit off topic but who is the best wheel builder in Cape Town?
