  1. Sunshine aint the issue Its that thing there measured in km/h!
  2. Just stop supporting the races and they will get the idea. I dont know who in their right mind would pay that kind of money for such a short race with probably a half ass attempt at a water point. I have said it before and I will say it again, far better to spend money on the bigger, well organised events, or the events with a small field who is looked after. These one day weekend races are a waste of cash.
  3. @Garfield I also got caught in these bunches at times. I tried to get out of them, but they would catch me on the downhills. When you have 3000 competitors all using 1 lane it is impossible not to draft at times. The answer is to use 2 lanes.

Im in H. Last year i did 3:15 I think I just want to have fun, if the guy are racing like idiots then Ill probably fall back and enjoy some coffee along the way.
  5. If cost is not an issue go invest in some tools and head over to Mr Bornman for a course on DIY Alternatively scour the internet and youtube for videos on how to. This has been my approach and besides the hectic stuff like shock and hub services, I have been doing it all myself.
  6. Great! I have Xterra this weekend and then I am keen to get some Sani training in. Will be in touch to arrange some rides.
  7. Is anyone interested in getting together some longer MTB rides for Sani training? I live on the Atlantic seaboard and have become a bit of a roadie of late and in view of the upcoming Sani2c, some LONGER MTB rides are in order to build up some strength. Tokai is great, but 60 - 80k's there will need a lot of repetition.
  8. Any news on the lady hunger striker? Saw her 2 weeks ago nearly and she was looking good. I doubt shre is feeling so upbeat now. I did offer her my 32gi seeing as though she was drinking. Clearly she doesn't frequent TheHub to see what a good product it is else she would have grabbed it! Seriously though, I hope she doesn't end up pegging over a building on Chappies.
  9. + The berries!
  10. This is not a rant, but rather a rave I am very chuffed with the goodie bag I just collected for Xterra Grabouw on Sunday. Contents incuded New balance dri fit t shirt (funky orange color for me) Rehidrate water bottle and 3 sachets Wintergreen anti chafe cream It doesn't look like a lot, but its all quality. Not to mention the added extras we get at the event like the Bokomo breakfast zone and the Rehidrate recovery zone. Quality vs. quantity any day of the week. I cant stand the normal goodie bags which include sachets of everything under the sun and that piece of squashed nougat! This is further vindication to support the BIGGER races and to forget about the marginal ones who rip us off and provide us with nothing other than a route. The likes of 70.3, Sani2c etc etc are far more worthwhile in terms of value than any of the one day events. In my humble opinion, big up to Stillwatersports who are putting on the Xterra! Now to wait and see how the event is organised!
  11. Forget strength, most peoples legs aren't even the same length. We talking millimeters but still
  12. Agreed. However 100% balance is virtually impossible
  13. Never One side is almost always stronger than the other, unless you are ambidextrous with your feet and cn kick a ball equally as far with you left and right foot. Humans are full of imbalances and contrary to popular belief, these imbalances are natural. Our bodies are made of of two differing halves which result in the imbalance. No matter how much effort you put into it, you will never correct that.
  14. That is insane! Race organisers have lost their minds. What do you get for that? I am assuming the full package of accommodation and food?
  15. What happened to the Venge? Don't tell me you have both, that's too much porn for 1 guy to have. by the way that Oltre is SIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICK
  16. My simplestic view After not eating for roughly 8 hours you will be hungry hence the term break-fast. I am always hungry when I wake up by the way. If you feel like you have stable levels of energy during the day at work or while training then you are eating enough and correctly If you dont need to eat a factory produced supplement then dont. We as consumers have no idea what they put into that stuff. That being said, the only brand I would trust for nutrition over and above 32gi would be Evox. Its quality ingridients imported from the 1st world and made on sight in JHB. Not like some of the other major brand that grace the shelves of dischem with all their marketing propoganda leading people to believe that its actually better. And finally, if you really hungry, just eat more! Surely a bit more steak is tastier than a protein shake? My 2 cents. Not a fan of supplements. Think that 95% of it is nothing but marketing and hype.
  17. Thanks How long should I be looking at? I've done both 70.3 in +- 6hrs Probably best just to go out there and have a jol and forget about the damn clock!
  18. Just entered the Grabouw event. Decided to do the full. Never done an Xterra before but have done several tri's and 2 70.3's Any tips for the Xterra virgin?
  19. Agreed! Only problem with riding them all the time is you doing yourself an injustice as they lighter and improve performance. Thus training with heavier trainers is better. It does suck though that I use training wheels and have these beauties in the garage waiting for races or long rides. Another downside is that the swisstop brake pads dont last very long and they aint cheap!
  20. Not my experience with the 404 FC's Do your research on them then come back and slate.
  21. What he said +1 I also have the 404 FC's and I seriosuly cannot feel that much more of a difference when comparing them to my training wheels which are cosmic elites. Do yourself a favour and watch the Zipp videos on youtube where they explain the design process and what makes them firstly the best wheels out there and secondly very predictable in the wind. Every review I have read on them, the reviewer says that crosswinds are very predictable and manageable which I would 100% agree with.
  22. Get a selle italia max flite gel flow. They also have a new model with an even bigger cut out. Will increase bloodflow to your manly bits and prevent numbness
  23. TIA unfortunately. I've been into shops wanting to buy something with cash in hand and I cant get service or attention. Get in touch with specialized in the USA. That's your best bet for sure.
  24. Try bike migration. I used them for 70.3 last year and they were decent. I know they do Argus. Shouldn't be more than R700 or so. Alternatively Google a company called focus on the finish line and speak to Paul or Kelly Kaye. I used them now for 70.3 and they are possibly the most organised bunch I have ever dealt with. I am collecting my bike this afternoon and if its all intact then possibly will change to definitely. I would 100% use a transport company and NOT and airline. Remember you and 30 000 other guys are trying to get your bikes onto the plane and what happens is that the hold becomes too full and they leave bikes behind and play catch up for a day or two. The result is best described as stressful. I saw this at 70.3 last year as well as Argus. Airlines can't cope with that much extra. Oh one last thing. Mango and SAA who usually allow a 20kg sporting allowance retract this offer over the crazy periods IE Argus and 94.7, thus you going to be paying for your bike regardless.
  25. Easy there strawberry mama. No need to get hostile. I am not the spelling police, just thought I would rev you slightly Seems to have worked On a serious note. Service in RSA is generally pretty poor. I wasn't trying to be facetious, but if you don't buy something from a store they typically are not inclined to help you regardless of the brand in question. Yes I agree that that is bullsh1t, but unfortunately its the truth. Think about it, its a lot of work for no money because the store has to phone the agents, fill out paperwork, and then the agents generally replace the broken part. This in turn equals no revenue for the shop. They should do it gladly, but alas.To add to that the fact that you bought it, or were given it from the USA further compounds the problem. I would still email the USA head office and ask them how they intend to fix the problem. In some instances the overseas suppliers will contact a store here and inform them to help you out. Search for a thread on morningside cycles who are the agents for yeti. You will catch my drift. Lastly phone the store back who you tried to go through and get the owners details. Then give him/her a ring and tell them politely that if they spend millions on a shop, the least you can do is train their dumb@ss staff a little. Also the owner will know a helluva lot more than the guy working the counter.
