  1. Couldn't agree with you more. I also looked at it and it looks like a FANTASTIC event which I would like to take part in until I read how much it will set me back. When I consider how much cash have put into 70.3 next weekend and Sani2c in May, I just cant bring myself to enter it. Also Xterra is +-R450 just for a one day event. That excludes the drive out there and nutrition etc. And of course there are tons of one day races which I will no doubt do during the year which all adds up. Bottom line is that to take part in events costs money. Its the sad reality but at the end of the dyay it costs money to run these events. I do agree with you though that the price for the warm water weekend is ridiculous.

Almost seems that the best part of the race is getting up on race day knowing you not ill or injured. GD speed to all over the next 2 weeks.
  4. What he said minus the 20 years part. 3 years for me.

Thanks MDW that's awesome!! What is everyone doing for taper? I was going to keep things similar but drastically cut down intensity and volume, but after bay to bay I am still not 100% recovered so I think I will take it even easier than I thought. I guess its too late to add fitness. The question is can you lose any in 2 weeks?
  6. Shocks are pretty pricey. You looking at R5k roughly for a new fork. If I were you I would look at spending a bit more and replacing your bike with something better specc'd. Chances are that if you want to upgrade your fork now, you will want new components in a few months as well. To upgrade one piece at a time is a costly exercise and you will find better value buy buying something new or better yet second hand. There plenty deals around for second hand bikes.
  7. Firstly 70.3 is on 22 Jan and not the 21st so I would adjust your arrangements accordingly Secondly get lots of sleep, drink plenty water and eat as much fruit and veg as you can handle. You should kick it in time. Good luck!
  8. I use a PolarRS800 For me it does absolutely everything I need. I have both my bikes linked to it and a foot pod fr running. The one gripe I have is that its a bit of a mission in transition to change from biking to running. You have to basically start a fresh with the run. Very happy with it overall and use it plenty.

I think I am where I want to be. Holidays never really affected me too badly. Maybe becauseI didn't take much of a holiday. I have one last big run this weekend and a pretty big brick as well and then its taper taper taper. Cant believe its already here!!!
  10. Fair enough. It is just juiced veg and fruit. Personally I wouldn't be able to drink that. I enjoy food and eating too much to move over to a liquid diet. Your dietitian should be teaching you about what a plate of food should ultimately consist of. Food is about education and knowing what to eat and when to eat it. A diet is dumb and ultimately results in a relapse. Know what makes a good plate of food for breakfast, lunch and supper and you will get to your goal weight and enjoy your life more because you wont feel restricted when eating. There is such a thing as healthy take outs and restaurant food.
  11. I hate to burst the bubble of everyone who has either done this diet/programme or is contemplating doing it. You can achieve the same results by just eating good healthy clean food. Not only does it taste good and better than a shake, but it will cost a lot less $$$$$. Long term it is far better practice for people to learn about food and what constitutes good, clean and healthy etc because lets face it the relapse rate of these diets is pretty high, and after 6/8 weeks of starvation and shakes, one is inclined to binge. Further I would any day eat a plate of good healthy food over some shake which has been manufactured in a chinese factory and contains chemicals and other nasties that none of us know are even there. These things are all marketing ploys to get you to buy their products and there are 100's out there besides USN. My 2 cents is save your cash and learn about food and what makes up a good plate.
  12. and rubbish
  13. Thats looks revolting Far easier ways to lose some weight my friend. Tastier as well.
  14. Get the firecrest carbon clinchers. The ease of clinchers and weight of tubulars. What more could one want?
  15. Check out www.chainworxcycles.co.za They a new bicycle shop which opened in Umhlanga and sell Yeti and BMC. As far as I am aware they and Morningside are the only guys who sell yeti in SA. Give them a call and I'm sure they can courier a hanger to you. They are fantastic guys, very friendly and seem really professional. EDIT: Call Jade Gutzeit on 082 882 8812, shop number is 031 561 3295
  16. You wouldn't catch me swimming in that dam. I'm not keen on growing an 11th finger or toe. That water is TOXIC!

    Mend wetsuit

I've fixed holes before. I put my toe through my brand new wetsuit a few weeks after getting it. I was devastated. Phone troisport in JHB and ask them which glue it is that you need to buy to fix a wetsuit. I remember buying it at pick n pay. Its an over the counter easy to get glue but I forget the name and type. Worked like a bomb, you just need to be methodical with it and layer it on using a match stick or something similar. PM me if you don't come right and Ill look at the name of it when I get home.
  18. Clashes with Ironman 70.3 Maybe next year
  19. Send a pm to Johan Bornman
  20. I have the Uno's and honestly prefer my Cape Storm It all depends on what YOUR @ss likes That being said, I saw the Craft stuff a few days ago and it looks seriously top end. I doubt you would go wrong with either. My vote however is for the Capestorm Nitros (sorry to confuse you further but its really omfy)
  21. I found a deal of note on a set of Zipp 404 Firecrest Carbon Clinchers. It was waaaaaay more than I was budgeting to spend but deals like this are once in a lifetime. After doing about 500k's on them all I can say is WOW!!! They are absolutely fantastic. The biggest differences for me is the cornering ability and the lightweight when climbing. I used them at the Jailbreak which was my first TT experience on them and I was blown away at how much easier it is to maintain speed. I'm sure the BORA's are awesome as well. At then end of the day it comes own to how much $ you have and are willing to spend. Either way you wont be disappointed.

That's crazy. My 94.7 time last year was 3:03 and my 70.3 time was 3:08! Didn't do 94.7 this year so its going to be interesting!
  23. Keep it as is and then sell it to me for the 2013 Argus
  24. Dont stress. There will be many more. I did enjoy my wetsuit yesterday though
  25. As far as I am concerned the Morewood Zula is an icon of a bike and one that I will keep until I hand it down to my son one day. Its a fantastic machine capable of a lot more than I can throw at it. And to all the 26inch haters, I regularly pass 29ers on my Zula. Must be the bike!
