  1. Zipp 404 are the business. Not as bad in crosswinds as everyone thinks although you do feel them! The plus side is they fast as hell and you wont catch me in a tailwind!
  2. I don't know what you are all on about. I have had a RS800CX for 4 years and never had an issue with it. I change the battery myself with a 5c coin. I once broke the strap and was lucky that Polar were in town for Two Oceans. Swapped it out and all was good. I had to replace the heart rate strap once as well. I use it for both my bikes and running. Never had an issue. I despise the fact that Garmin and Suunto need to be charged. Those charging stations at stage races are mental. Having to add another unit to charge would drive me mad.

    650B vs. 29er

Thanks Crow. That pretty much sums up my suspicions. I guess its better to start putting ZAR away for that Tallboy.

    650B vs. 29er

I found this video on youtube. Its pretty informative. Ultimately the increase gained by moving to 650B seems to be minimal from a scientific point of view.
  7. Ok, so I know, or have been told, that the 29er is the bees knees and that anyone without one is still basically using windows 95 in an age of windows 8. My intention is not to dispute the benefits of a 29er vs a 26er, that has been done ad nauseum. My question is rather aimed at those who have converted to 650B and if they felt a significant effect. I would really love a 29er, however there is nothing wrong with my Zula (wheelsize perhaps) and would like to make the conversion as it is my understanding that it can be converted. This would also cost a lot less than buying a Santa Cruz Tallboy. So to those who have converted their 26er's, was it worth it and is there a significant difference?
  8. This race is around the corner!
  9. I hate these things. Once you ride one of these it will make your current ride feel redundant. On a side note, the green and orange are awesome!
  10. USN is a marketing company. The CEO deserves his cash and no one should hold gripe with him in that respect. He has done a very good job at fooling the market and he is reaping the reward. Congratulations. As far as supplements for kids go, I think its a load of nonsense. This world has become totally corrupted with fast food this and quick fix that. Kids need to learn about the basic food groups and recognize that processed food isn't good for you. I understand that some kids like Dangle mentioned have issues with getting down normal food and perhaps there is an argument for supplements in that respect. I still think that is dangerous because you are not teaching your kids what normal food is or about. As for adults, I feel sorry for people who take down factory made shakes over good wholesome delicious food. What a waste of your life.
  11. I think that it a retarded comment. Ride my Morewood Zula in Tokai and then tell me that 26" bikes are dead and buried. But I guess if you live in JHB and the riding is mainly district roads then yes 26" are pointless. It still mystifies me why people are selling perfectly good and fantastic 26" ual sus bikes for a 29" hardtail. That to me is regression but I guess each to his own.
  12. Happy days! Bond repayment will go down and the JSE will rocket WIN WIN

    Sani2C Entry

Without a doubt. This year we got at least 3k worth of clothing.
  14. By learning to spell Mechanic.............
  15. Hi Everyone A good friend of mine owns the following company http://www.thepocpac.com/water-resistant-cycling-pouch Have a look at the website and see about his product. The pouches are great and strong and I put everything in them from spares to house keys. They are available throughout the Western Cape at most cycle shops and they expanding to rest of SA soon. Give him a tinkle via the contact page.
  16. I haven't switched yet for 2 reasons: I could never ever bring myself to sell my Zula. I love it far too much and it really is a fantastic bike. The measly sums I see them advertised for around here, doesn't tempt me either. Personally I think 29er's are the way forward especially for the type of riding I do (XC). That said, I think a hardtail is a waste of money because ultimately a dual sus will be more beneficial. Dual sussers are not cheap and I would rather save up and get a power 29 DS then buy a HT which I know will be transitional. So yeah don't slate me but that is my view. I'm going to wait and when I do enter the market, I'll get something along the lines of a Tallboy or PYGA.
  17. That's how it does appear at face value But think of this.................... WTU which owns Ironman did comment and state that their rules state that if an athlete is being investigated for doping by an unrelated body then he/she cannot compete in WTU events. If LA were to win another IM and then be found out to test positive there is a chance he could have won IM as a doper. I am sure that WTU would want to prevent that from happening and have the second place man be named the winner etc etc. Bottom line, its one big stuff up of note. I am a big LA fan but you cant help but doubt his innocence this time round. One thing is for sure, there is someone over at USADA that has a serious vendetta against him and will not rest until they prove him to be guilty. Interesting times.
  18. Like big boulders! Seriously though, my tyres have given me over 300k's of painless riding. Conti UST tyres the whole way!
  19. I have been running a 2.2 Race King (UST) back and a 2.4 Mount King (UST) upfront with no issues at all. the first pair lasted 2500k's and I recently put on a new set before Sani2C. That said, the race king is not a great tyre in the mud. Last weekend at Jonkershoek it was a bit muddy from all the rain and the race king did not fair too well. The mountain king was perfect though. I think for my next set Ill probably keep the Mountain king upfront but change to a cross king at the back. Either way I think the Conti UST tyres are bomb proof and whoever says they are too heavy has rocks in his head.
  20. Base layer Windproof jacket Knee warmers Ear warmers Long finger gloves Sorted.
  21. I am a big LA fan but after reading all of this I would be lying if I thought he was squeaky clean. Being in forensics myself I know the chances of getting so many confessions all along the same lines is slim unless what they are saying ihas some truth.
  22. Dude my 404's are incredibly loud. I wouldn't even mind quieting them down a bit but I wont be that picky No idea though how you would make them louder.
