Good question. Would also like to know.
  2. I have been told its the bees knees and if you use it properly the rewards are immense.
  3. The Tregers have owned the Trek agency for years. It was just under a different name of Just Fun. I think there was a big unbundling an Trek got moved around. So dont kid yourself, not much has changed. I hope for their sake that the service level improves. I think it is ridiculous that one of the worlds leading cycling brands treats their customers as badly as they have in RSA. People have generally had nothing good to say about the after sales service in the past.
  4. Wow Dude its a no brainer. If I were you (and Im probably talking for half the hub here) I would go with the Specialized. Just look at the results that they have had over the years. Like I said, NO BRAINER! The only downside is the service costs, but if you can afford a R90k bike I am assuming the service costs should be ok. As for the Trek, I have only heard horror stories about the back up service so I would steer very clear of them.
  5. As long as you check it before to make sure your setup is ok and the bike is working fine, like gears etc. I got a new bike 2 weeks before 70.3 this year and it made a huge difference to my ride leg. I'm assuming you have upgraded so your new bike should do the same. I'd say go for it and have a blast and don't give it a seconds thought!
  6. Everyone pees in their wetsuit. It helps with the thermals
  7. Sounds like its not clamped into the rails properly, or the seatpost is the culprit.
  8. I got the PRO one. Cost about R600 and works like a bomb.
  9. Stop with the good PR Grant and refund those athletes who haven't yet been refunded. Thats all the PR you will need. There was a thread here yesterday where guys were moaning that they still haven't received there cash back. Here's the link. Show some goodwill and pay these guys back! My link

  11. Ditto A very worthwhile investment.
  12. Dude your plan above is ridiculous. You may not be at race weight and you may have had a bad run up to the event in terms of training but I promise you now, that if you adopt that crazy strategy of yours you will end up doing a 10hr DC and probably hating every minute of it. Here is what I would do given that there is a week and a half left. Diet: Stay hydrated over the next 2 weeks. Easy on the coffee and the booze or match ml for ml with water. Eat plenty brightly colored fruit and veg, and have a few extra carbs toward the end of next week before the event. Go buy a tub of 32gi and you will be sorted for the event. Training: Ideally by now you want to maintain intensity but cut volume so I would recommend that your weekly sessions be shorter but with a higher intensity. On Saturday head out for a 3/4 hour ride at a solid pace. The objective is TITS and not to nuke yourself. If you lose that much weight between then and now it is NOT healthy. Guidelines recommend that the most a person should lose is a kg per week. Good luck and stay positive, you'll get through it!
  13. I did the adventure this year with a Morewood Zula. The bike went like a dream. OK the brakes gave me some issues on Day 3, but that was about it. I agree with the comments above. Buy a bike you love to look at, that makes you want to ride it. Not a bike for an event, I think that's stupid. There were plenty 29ers on this years event. I even passed a whole bunch of them. At the end of the day it comes down to the conditioning of your legs and your @ss. Do the saddle time and you'll be fine regardless of the bike and wheel size you choose. The trance is an awesome bike and for a whole lot less cash I'm sure you can do a pretty sweet upgrade and have it as good as new. It may not be the perfect setup for a race like Sani2c, but it will do the trick. I mean a pro would use a 29er hardtail for sure but hey you not a pro and you should go for what you are most comfortable on even if it is a trail/AM bike as opposed to a XC rig with less travel and possibly no rear suspension.
  14. I dunno how anyone can buy an oakley watch. They are FOUL LOOKING!
  15. That's what I meant 32k's to the bottom of Suikerbossie must be included under reduced volume surely?

    IM70.3 SA

Shew it getting close now. After DC its time to focus on some quality bricks!
  17. Couldn't agree with you more. Companies should focus on what they are good at and not on stealing others market share. Assos know nothing about sunglasses. Leave it to the pro's like Oakley and Rudy. That aside they are seriously ugly and only a brand whore would purchase a pair.
  18. You cant stop cycling for 2 weeks. You have to keep the engine turning albeit slowly until DC. Thursday morning for a nice and relaxed ride.
  19. That's disgusting! It's one thing to call off a race and to screw up the last 6 months worth of training for everyone. But to paint a picture that you intend on doing good by refunding guys, and then don't is disgusting. Did they offer you a free entry into any challenge race? I heard that was on the table for everyone who had entered. Dude if I were you I would phone a lawyer friend and get him to write Grant the harshest letter ever and threaten him with legal action. That should get the EFT's going on their side. What a disgrace. Challenge.com should sack this incompetent bag or organizers in RSA.
  20. Wow dude that is really unfortunate. I cannot believe that so much can go wrong with one bike! Distributors in this country rest on the laurels way too much and think because they have brands that effectively sell themselves, they don't have to do much work. Dragons are also the Mavic agents and there was a thread last week about how rubbish the service is. I think by posting your issue here you have given Dragons more than a fair opportunity to tell us why they think we should still support them, and how they are going to remedy your nightmare. Good luck bud, don't give up!
  21. Agreed come to CT You know the riding is better here!
  22. Thanks Thug I think its best I get a new chain and a new cassette. Then Ill have the best of both worlds and I can still keep the current cassette because there is alot of life left in it.
  23. So for roughly R1258 the problem is solved!
