  1. Yip, the R55 - R511 stretch is approx a 35km stretch and you are bound to have some local traffic (residents etc) on route. The half-a-dozen vehicles passing me on the R511 kept totally to the right-hand side of the road and were driven very cautiously.

  3. I do agree pushers should perhaps walk on the left hand side, but it wasn't THAT bad to get through? (I could only see maybe 2 or 3 'blockages'? ) I didn't listen to the sound on the clip but a 'passing left/right' might have been suffice to alleviate the situation?
  4. Or as an alternative http://www.raceresults.co.za/flyers/tj01118.jpg http://www.raceresults.co.za/flyers/tj11118.jpg The 21 is a two lapper, so ample opportunity to check out the little hill.
  5. It seems that you are in Gauteng - why choose between ODD & Loskop, just go for both. Personally I would rate the 2OM experience way above those two. (But then, I did my last 2OM in 2001 and things might have changed?) From a convenience / cost / atmosphere point of view ODD and Loskop is probably more or less (different but) equal. (Also, you need to qf for 2OM)
  6. Many of your questions were answered on: https://tshwaneclassic.co.za https://tshwaneclassic.co.za/2018-tshwane-classic-rider-brief/ http://tshwaneclassic.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Vehicle-Access-Tswhane2018.jpg wrt road closures, parking map, starting line location, finish line location, water points location etc. (Apologies Karooryder, saw your response stating more or less the same too late)
  7. E-bike
  8. Great day out, enjoyed the race ???? (However I did think that the cyclists who fell in behind the Duracell bunny was not playing cricket though?)
  9. Haven't done Soweto but with a 6'/k ave on a 10 you should actually be aiming for <2:15. (I see you are in Centurion, if you want we can plan to do a 'paced' 21 at a stage?)
  10. So we might have ~14k's (21-35) with the wind from behind. Long slog back from 54-83. At least the sun won't melt us

  12. Interesting! (I think they need to change the title of the race! (TIC!!) ) https://theknow.denverpost.com/2018/10/22/courtney-dauwalter-bigs-backyard-ultra/199188/ https://my3.raceresult.com/110552/results?lang=en&fbclid=IwAR23ARhTKlSkgqgg5Qk0z4SDzZx0E7_tSDJ75jEY8HGsMi8-4pn79LE-H8s#0_B3DC1F Huge respect!
  13. I GUESS : 2020 is the normal sequential down run and as Comrades is 100y old 2021 CMA maybe wants the finish at MM rather?
  14. Like where? I think R340 is a reasonable amount. (Iirc Early Bird entries got a R100 discount voucher) I enjoyed it. Org was good as were the marshal and wp's. All and all a great day out
  15. Very silent here
  16. And for the open air loo's at the start
  17. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7KelTyumEPQ&feature=youtu.be Yes - this was 'n spoof in response to the surfer vs paddle boarder (?) episode, which one should listen to first ideally.: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bXpgYCOU340& (Orig one seems to have been taken off YT though, but wait: )
  18. Yeah part of life for many years. (My GP removed some toe nails in the past, it's not too much of a deal. (Although totally and cleanly removed, it is not as in perm if that is what you mean.) These days I use my Dremel to keep the nail thickness in check. (Eg when the nails start to grow 'over' each other)
  19. I used the Suunto Spartan Trainer extensively for approx a year and have my sights now on the Polar Vantage M. FWIW: the SST will give you ~10h on GPS Best and ~12:30h on Good. All in all a very nice watch (with 'triathlon' etc capabilities) and with great support from Ultimo (If you are going this route I would recommend the SST with mineral glass. All models have 5y warranty as well.)
  20. As I understood it one needs to enable the Driving (Insure) app icw the Open program. Just be aware, ONLY the (Samsung) Heath App can be used for the Open program:
  21. The Suunto 9 is out, but this is a very very good price for the top of the range Suunto Spartan Ultra. (It seems to include the HR Strap which is ~R1300 on it own alone?)
  22. Correct, especially H has got a ~50% chance of finishing. (What is wrong with that? Many of them were probably caught at cut-off points in any case.) Why are you deciding for them how they should be treated?
  23. Let's take a step back - what is wrong with the current (QF) system and cut-off time, in general? Is the current DNF's & Medical cases a material issue?
