  1. My first 50Miler. Only picked it because its "not too technical" and I'm going to be one upset puppy if it is. Had too many falls the last few months. Confidence is zip. Fitness is a little better, but only marginally. Oh screw it. I might have to walk the race.

No Airmavrick. Missed it by 10 minutes! I'm very dissapointed, but hey...I finished and there is always next year. :-) Back to the drawing board. You?
  5. I appreciate your opinion on my opinion... but it had nothing to do with taking the moral high ground (however whether my kids have seen mine, has got nothing to do with you and that part is not appreciated). My opinion was about respect and consideration. You can't just assume that its ok for everyone. You have to leave room for people [with kids] who will be offended by this behaviour. The irony is everyone [read you] seems to want to force their beliefs onto others...not just the religious. If you want to bring your kids up like that, by all means, be as you wish to seem; but also teach them respect for others.

Did you make your 3h30, Berry?
  7. The mother in me was a little upset, seeing as there are kids doing this race, but lucky for her I was too focused to really care (had my warrior face on and everything).
  8. Do you ever wonder what life would be like if you'd had enough oxygen at birth?

I'm in T too. Please help me understand... we should all be similar strength in our various groups, right? So if I look at my races over the last few months and average speed, I SHOULD be able to just make a sub4, so ave speed of upper 28km/h (leaning more towards 29km/h...heaven help me). So how the heck are you going to do a 3h30 and can I please sit on your wheel (just kidding...). Good luck, Berry. Holding thumbs.
  11. 2-bedroom flat, (+- 150m away from where cyclists will pass on Sunday) R1700.00 Friday to Sunday night. PM if interested.
  12. As much as I love mtb myself... I thought about this yesterday during the Wellington Lions race, because I also passed a few cyclists with flats and felt rather crap for not stopping, but (1) you're going much faster than in a mtb race and probably in a bunch so there are other people's safety to consider; and (2) some of the guys seem rather irritated as a lot of passing well-meaning folk ask (shout) "are you ok?" and he/she has to answer back for the umteenth time "yes, fine, thanks". Bottom line is I think its unfair to compare the two. There are enough guys and girls who don't take things so seriously in road cycling, that are more than willing to stop and help. Same as mtb'ers. (Apologies if that isn't what you were trying to do, but being on The Hub long enough, you realise how many do actually compare the two all the time. Its just silly.)
  13. Up until I read this post, I was wildly enthusiastic about this race. I'm just saying.
  14. A very good idea.
  15. Thank you ER24 Road Rangers.
  16. I was going to say forget about hydration. Look at the wind prediction for Sunday's race. Liewe !! Then I read rule number 5...
  17. Anyone have a contact for Cape Town / Tokai - Fundamental MTB Skills to Intermediate. I seem to suck the more I fall. When does it get easier? One step forward, two steps back.
  18. Got to love some of the youtube comments. "Buck Norris"
  19. Genugtig. My time trial up Chappies doesn't seem so bad anymore.
  20. Just forget your cell phone at the top... I don't know who the cyclists were that found it and kept it for me, but I'm hoping you read this. I should have asked your names or something, but I was stukkend! (after cycling to the bottom Noordhoek side and realising I forgot the phone and I have to get back to the top of Chappies ASAP) And you had already spent too much time phoning numbers on my phone trying to find out who's phone it was and what to do with it and was rearing to go so a chit chat was out. Anyway, thank you very much! You saved me a lot of trouble and money.
  21. Apparently you can now report these people - 0861400800
  22. Ai tog. RIP
  23. I took a photo of one of the mom's at school the other day driving in front of me, todler playing on the back seat. Posted photo on Facebook saying "this is what an incompetent parent looks like". Maybe infertility is not such a bad thing. If only it happened to the right people.
  24. Orbit Tour de Worcester, Sunday. Game on!
