  1. Hi Emo Kid, I used mine for the first time this weekend. Loved it. Just scared me silly when it started 'talking to me'. (I leave when its still dark. Thought there was some ghost rider on my wheel!) Can you tell me how to view elevation. I click on history, but then can only see the split times, km's, km/h and mapping. Thanks
  2. In your own words then MJ... "This is sometimes so typical of the hub... Snotty comments, personal attacks..."
  3. And you shouldn't (1) assume to know me and lump me into your narrow categories and (2) stick to the topic.
  4. You are assuming the routes are the same. If in Cape Town, we have a problem with routes at the moment because of Main Road being under construction. Some riders can't take the same route as the faster / stronger riders in our MANY club groups so the routes differ slightly and the back-up vehicle doesn't just look after the racing snakes. Easy to miss someone in such a case, hence why carrying that handy little thing called a cell phone with you is so important. Anyway, as a lady myself, I don't see why the fact that she is a lady should matter. She chose to live it up in this male dominated sport so she needs to be able to take care of herself. We seem to be just 'equal' when it suites us.
  5. Mads, wish we lived in cycling distance from each other! I ride with a group on Saturday's but one long ride a week is not going to cut it. Good luck on your side. Holding thumbs. GuyP, is true.
  6. Training on my own is crap. I've just about had enough. If you can ride (road) Thursday mornings from 8am, Southern Subs CPT, please pm so we can see if our fitness levels allow.
  7. Not only is the driver sick, but you've got to 'love' some of the comments under these clips (maybe not your link specifically, I had a look at the other clips as well). Things like "hope the car wasn't scratched" and "I've always wanted to do that" etc.
  8. I'm not so sure after that add in the Argus mag. Nice kit tho. Just get your marketing right. Not only men cycle and you're not advertising Mavericks.
  9. It's a lovely project. Also see Facebook page. Some of the stories behind pics are awesome. Well done guys.
  10. I'm no expert but that pretty much sounds like iron deficiency. Us girls especially need to watch this closely. PM me if you want to chat about it as I'm going thru the same thing at the moment and will tell you what my doc told me to take and do. Maybe worth a try before you get yourself into a frenzy and spend a lot of time and money on doctors.
  11. Eish, it's the size thing again. Is there any other gear? Some of us are delicate. Besides, how and in what gear you get to the Mast is not important. The fact that you get there, is.
  12. Not exactly. I wanted to sell my old bike in December. Someone suggested I take it to him. IT WAS MY UNDERSTANDING that he wasn't prepare to sell it if I didn't buy another bike from him.
  13. That's very good. Well done. There is a lot of factors at play I suppose. I see you are a young lad. Not that I'm an old lady... (let's just make that clear ) I'm in my late 30's,(I only started doing sports a few years ago and that's my own stupidity, I know) but to me I'm taking things in my stride and setting targets/goals as I move along. Without 'pedigree', you can't expect just to get on a bike and get amazing results, but that's cool, because it's just so amazing reaching those goals, even if it is just to better my OKW time. ps The sign is a little further on from the Chappies turn-off, on your left. I always start the clock from there.
  14. Thanks guys. Thor, good luck with the Cobra.
  15. What? Nooit. Ou Kaaps is calling Le Turbo.
  16. Not in a race, just training. Two years ago it was 37min (from the 'bokkie' sign at the bottom, just after turn off to Chappies) to sign at top of Ou Kaaps a few meters before you get the Silvermine entrance). Last year just before the Argus it was 27min and last week 24min. I'm super proud of myself.
  17. There is just no pleasing people. I ask you, what's better. Buying your kids something that could keep them healthy and fit (mtbikes) or something like Playstation. The critics of these "expensive toys" and "spoiled kids" are normally hypocrites who buy their kids playstations and crap. Carlo clearly has talent. Good luck to him and his parents. He is an inspiration to my boys.
  18. I enjoyed that so much. Thanks DJR.

    Cape Epic

If you really want to do the Epic, you will find a way. Second sponsored year in a row for our team (and they are far from pro's). Money is a bad excuse. Really hope Lance will be there.

    Well done for spotting that.

Hi Tankman. Sorry for the confusion. It was the Dirtopia Lebanon mountain bike funride held Sunday 12 December. I found the provisional results on the Dirtopia site. Sorry...newbie.

How long before the results are up? Does it always take this long? It's not like there were a lot of us...
  23. It was extremely difficult to keep to the rules for everybody. Try seconding next year if the same dangerous rules applied that did this year. It was no picnic for this girl (and WTH does a house wife look like?!!!). As a cyclist myself I understand cyclists not always wanting to or being able to ride on the shoulder, but try understanding seconding vehicles not wanting to ride on the wrong side of the road. A few times I had to choose between playing chicken with the oncoming traffic as there was no space in my own lane (bunched up cyclists, no pace lines!) getting looks of ultimate fear from the oncoming traffic as they pass (heck knows what they must have been thinking of this race and cyclists in general...) or daggers from cyclists not wanting to ride on the shoulder and expecting you to ride in the oncoming traffic lane... Your other non-chauv suggestions were good.
  24. Sorry guys, I know I'm in the minority, but trust me it's not always BS. I am anamnestically sensitive to cold air. Winter is no picnic for me.
  25. Watch out for the asthma diagnosis. Forget the GP (I'm sorry, went that route for 2 years and was treated for the wrong thing the whole time). Go straight to the Pulmonologist. After numerous tests I was informed that I have mild asthma and that its not my problem at all. Chronic sinusitis is sinus infection that lasts more than eight weeks and can keep on coming back, which in my case it did. If you don't treat it, it's like a poison. Effects your lungs, etc. If indeed it is chronic sinusitus, swim in the sea. Don't laugh. Just do it and do it a lot. Trust me, it will help clear you up. Good luck. I completely understand the frustration.
