  1. Well, some good news here... Neighbourhood watch recovered my bike. A bit of Strava sleuthing and I have Lucy back. Only missing bits are my saddle bag and tools and the Garmin Varia that came loose as I found that fiddly rubber in my garden.
  2. have you ever seen a coffee ride through Camps Bay?
  3. you make a good point, though the values were very similar. I guess they were alluding to a protour road bike will cost 10-15k Euro (a guess), whereas the top-end SBK bike will be significantly more - they said MotoGP, but those can't be bought by the public like a protour roadbike
  4. Stolen: Specialized Chisel 2018 When: 14/10/2023 Where: , Port Owen, Velddrif, Western Cape Specialised Chisel, large with SRAM GX AXS, Stans Flow rims on Hope 4 hubs. Specialized Power saddle, and Stages power meter. Garmin 1040 and Varia attached Get further details about the incident in the Stolen Bikes section.
  5. mmm. frame pumps and inner tubes @20 paces....
  6. this won't happen. It'll mean closing off 2 access points into HB, and the local non-cyclists will be out in force with pepper spray and pitchforks for sure. Also, there are not enough ambo's for the descent from Constantia Neck... 😋
  7. All's fair, unless it's a gated community
  8. Out this way, KOMs are weather-dependent. Pays to keep an eye out for the best days. And I may die holding Rivier Str as they've put speed bumps on it now...
  9. Thanks all who've replied. I currently ride a 34T oval and mostly use the smallest 4 cogs on the cassette where I live. And who loves replacing 12sp cassettes because the 10T is toast? So thinking of fitting the biggest chainring I can, then swapping out for a smaller one when the biking turns to mountain biking - will obviously have a shorter chain for that too. I'm weighing up options
  10. Hi all, can anyone tell me what the max chainring size would be on either the Cypher or the Cypher RS? the stock 32 is fine, but I'll live on the edge of the cassette where I live TIA T
  11. and just the 6 injuries? ok, US only, but some of those failures look horrific
  12. There is another thread on this. I read it to be an inspection and possibly followed by replacement. I doubt they'll be recalling that many cranksets, though they should.
  13. oh wow. shimano are really on the ball with this one...
  14. he's Marmite-y to be sure. Loves the sound of his own voice and is his own favourite comedian.
  15. hahahah. that's hilarious! Nice one! Oh... it's just occurred to be you may be serious. mea culpa...
  16. the key difference is that Martinez wasn't a few seconds out from the lead. But you make a very good point anyway. I see the current tactics as a good way of dropping JV into the same bucket as the rest of the villains. I see JV's main Vuelta goal as winning it as comprehensively as possible, which they achieved the day Remco flopped. It's going to be fascinating how this plays out from here. I think I speak for everyone when I suggest that this year's racing has been an absolute treat. The classics were great, monuments to date were incredible, the GT's, world champs, it's all been thoroughly entertaining. Cycling certainly has won 2023. This is a good thing.
  17. It'll be hilarious if Sepp is pacing Rog up a hill in the 24 Giro and Rog's totally hosed, but Sepp rides away laughing shouting 'remember the angliruuuuu....'
  18. I'm curious how you're able to make this determination without seeing the OP. Please fill us in on the details
  19. Spez Chisel is boost and is mighty fine and just lovely 💗
  20. That roller will make short work of any tyre, dedicated or not. Not ayoba. Be better Wahoo. Out of interest, how long did it take for that to happen and how did you notice?
  21. You are correct. apologies for putting my safety ahead of the law. No one else seems interested when I'm on my bike, I thought I'd just go ahead.
