  1. Thought the wind would drop after dark like usual... not this time... sigh. The upside was spotting a porcupine. I called him Spike
  2. pop in. I'll cook you something... Forecasts show tailwinds for what seems like forever
  3. That sounds like that's that then... back to the Sky train days... none of which sound terribly exciting to me really.
  4. I have one I can loan you. it's not a Camelbak competitor, because it IS a Camelbak... you'll look like a hipster though... you'll love it. 🤣
  5. there is a timetable. It used to be reliable when I bussed about
  6. It will, but you'll be paying the 20% GST at checkout, which is moot if the item can't be had here for love or money...
  7. the algorithm threw this up for me...
  8. and the real kicker here is that the cheapest saddle may end up matching your sensitive bits best...
  9. Any Spez store will be able to do the measurements to ensure the width is appropriate for your sit bones. As long as you're getting the right size, it's a wash between the two brands you mention.
  10. I have some work to do on the BB's on my MTBs. Threaded with an outside diameter is 44mm and 16 notches. For the life of me, I don't know what I need. thanks
  11. I ride alone, not because of where I am, but the schedule (or lack thereof) I keep. Perhaps this speaks to my lack of accountability towards my fitness and diet (ok, it definitely does), but as Eddy said above, my pace is low and I get irritable knowing others are probably waiting for me. I just rather ride alone. I use Garmin tracking, I have an ICE ID on my wrist and helmet and when there are cars about, my Varia does some heavy lifting for me.
  12. I had this issue as well. The sessions were on SYSTM and worked fine, but looking at the garmin's data in Intervals.icu, it showed what you're seeing. The SYSTM data was 100s. I began using a USB extender cable and had the ANT+ dongle near the trainer. Previously, it was plugged into the front USB port on my HP desktop and there were bluetooth and Logitec dongles alongside it and I suspect those played poorly with the ANT+ reception. Incidentally, Western Digital mini external drives also won't work plugged in alongside the BT and keyboard dongles. I tried using a nice 3m USB extender cable, but it doesn't work with the ANT+ dongle. Printers, phones, every other device I've tried on it work fine. I hope you come right. I found this extremely frustrating. I sense you do too.
  13. yup... it's all about perceived wind speed, not ground speed. An aircraft can take off while stationary relative to the ground with the correct wind over it's wings
  14. ^^^ This, but on Bottleray, it may be safer to pull over to do... I was fiddling with my Garmin settings and rode into a bush... But since no one saw, it probably didn't happen. If I ended up under a car, it probably did
  15. If it's a constant alert, then it's not helpful in that case. It's most helpful for cars with reasonable gaps in between, otherwise it'd Defcon1 all the time. FWIW, I was passed by a few double interlink trucks yeterday, and twice, and my Varia picked up the second trailer as a seperate vehicle... You must know what it's like being passed on a railway service road by a 4km long train @ChrisF, there's a GarminIQ app that provides a data screen that gives a car count as well as last closing speed and last absolute speed... the corresponding FIT file can be loaded on a map somewhere to show where the passes were and the relevant data
  16. Lost count of how many miggies went down with the Hammer chocolate. And temps hit 43... Sunday-funday
  17. As noted, the actual mount interface is injection-molded. I'd still like that tether, though the Varia doesn't provide for one
  18. Would they even exist? Showing reruns of Sister Act II will only take you so far...
  19. I'm here to bang the Varia drum (again). When I detect a car from the rear, I put out my arm requesting a wider pass and while not scientific, I've noted that when I do, I get more space than when I won't put my arm out. I think it's the driver thinking 'oh! that IS a human. They need space'
  20. I cannot abide by the commentary that's on DSTV. Unless they're getting the Eurosport stream... I'd rather not watch. It remains to be seen if Eurosport suffer the same fate as GCN+ in time, in which case we're kicking the can down the road
  21. this is crummy for all concerned. no doubt, there will be the usual attrition that follows such bean-counterish decisions. I can't get my head around what I'll do instead, but I'm pretty sure someone here will find a way. If that's you, please share if it's something accessible to us all. That said, if the solution is Eurosport, that's not terrible... IIRC, that will bring the Olympics (I hope) into my home as well as Le Mans 24hr. All I need to figure out is how to pay for it.
  22. For the rest of us Kickr owners, would it be possible to list the parts you collected for the repair and post the list here for future reference?
  23. I had my bike stolen in a burglary 2 weeks ago. I got it back the following day, and my saddle bag was returned 2 days later. Apparently, the went through 5 people in that time and the cops aren't sure who the perpetrator was. Today I received an SMS from SAPS telling me the case is closed. hey ho... I'm glad you got your bike back. I hope the emotional recovery is speedy and complete.
  24. I was replying and saw your edit on Ant+... you got there before I did.
  25. and it'll be right twice a day!!!
