  1. The satisfaction of knowing you made it is truly priceless. It's not just about the solution. You speak truth, but the OP is probably not in need of life philosophy 😁
  2. That infill looks around 10%. I would go 100% infill for this experiment. But agree with others here, this is not the type of material to be using for this solution.
  3. Merlin have this model on special for R1450 (ex VAT and shipping - im sure there are hubbers willing to chime in on an order to share costs) --> https://www.merlincycles.com/shimano-sm-bcr2-di2-battery-charger-for-internal-battery-87894.html Can you share the ad or details of the bike and how much you paid? if you got the bike for a good price, then with or without accessories, it could just be one of the reasons it was sold for so cheap. Not sure bikehub ads come with an end user agreement, implied or not.
  4. Same here - ill preclean and lube chain every other ride at most - only clean/wipe down when necassary. Rarely use soaps/detergents other than chain cleaner. Micro fibre clothes are a secret weapon.
  5. For the travellers, this print has proven very useful for me. I find it frustrating to remove the handlebar from my gravel bike, only to struggle to remount and find the right angle again each time the bike needs to be rebuilt after travel. With a simple print like this tube, you can remove your handlebar and stem in one piece, and keep the fork nicely torqued up for travel using this as a spacer. Keep in mind that your bike does serve as a structural piece for a bike bag like the evoc, so if you remove both the stem and handlebar.
  6. Yeah waiting wasnt lekker - but honestly what a great event .... and ... probably the only one that wasnt cancelled or hit by k*k weather.

  8. Do you have better pics or links to something you find online for a better view of this? A couple of folk here could help.
  9. this one is easy for me, ive always had joy with Clint --> https://cecycles.co.za/ (Tokai based)
  10. https://online.entries.co.za/entries/findperson.aspx?eid=5122 looks like an interesting one ☝️
  11. Cycling weekly rated the giant revolt “Gravel bike overall winner 2023” —> Ofc this is typical sponsored media, but they make some solid points on why they chose the revolt.
  12. Wheel building is a dark art - definitely not something you want to do unless you have the time to fidget to get it right. It’s not rocket science, but very frustrating without the proper tools i.e a truing stand, a dishing tool, spoke tension tool and spoke wrench ofc. I suspect you would pay around R500 for a bike shop to do this for you which should include tire and tubeless setup, probably a little more. You need to be sure what your goal is: 1 - You are so passionately in love with MTB, that you want to ruin it by making it your hobby? Start buying the tools, fidget so much that you dont end up riding all that much. 2 - You just want to get on your bike and go? Start build a relationship with your LBS, there will be times your expectations aren’t met, but over time you start to maximise actual riding time, while they hassle with parts, drivetrain replacements, shock servicing etc Be prepared to visit your ATM a lot. 3 - You’re so passionately in love with MTB, that you buy/sell/upgrade equipment every season, before it needs serious maintenance, always leaving it to the next owner to run with? Become a pro trader and understand how trends work to time an upgrade path thats affordable without worrying about 1 or 2. (Ofc you will need to do a little between bush-maintenance, minor things you should understand anyway). Item 1 will bore you of the sport, Item 2 will make you poor, Item 3 is where the wisdom lies (In any hobby IMO).
  13. 100% infill - no wander!
  14. So when in doubt add one more mm of material 😆 Very cool test rig myth busters style 👏 What were your temps and infill settings? That cable stopper might be stronger than the carbon fibre frame it was eventually mounted too 🏆
  15. Can’t add to this opinion, but spot on. I’m always curious to see pictures of delaminating prints, what printer and filament was used. Still nee to this myself, I’ve done some destructive testing and even PLA was surprisingly strong.
  16. Came up with an experimental out front mount for my wahoo bolt with integrated torch mount this weekend. i modelled a bolt thru and a strap-on design to see if keeping the torch removable for recharging would be as aesthetically pleasing. I’m using two m4 15mm bolts to clamp the mount onto my bar, I’d probably redesign the clamp to include nuts 🔩 if i were to use one of these designs.
  17. 2.5l is only 3x800ml bottles - does your bike not have a potential spot for a 3rd bottle cage? You do get cage mounts for a seatpost, as long as you arent using a dropper ofc. I barely cope with having my phone on my back let alone vests, tools, uswe's etc
  18. I dont have the downtube bolts, that would have been a nice print actually. I was looking at the bottle mounts, but my bottle cage dont quite have that gap for the airtag "bulge" without me having to make it look obvious. The design im going for is defs more stealthy than one would believe. Keep in mind the airtag sits above not below the seat rails, and aft of the mount.
  19. just a thought, but the angle of the bolts into the seat might be 6-8deg off perpendicular, you might need to factor that in to the mounts. This is a design im playing with for a SWAT mount on the spez power saddle, found that i need -8deg tilt to get the varia perpendicular.
  20. So many iterations to get my AirTag holder just right to sit under the seat attached to the seat rails - v0.3 currently in design 😮‍💨
  21. This YouTuber speaks about swapping the standard propel stem for a defy stem. Not only is it aesthetically better looking, but the benefit of a standard bar clamp opens you up to way more options than the proprietary aero bar that giant provides (thinking about aero bar extensions for triathletes too)
  22. Perfect - amazing how that powder fly's everywhere and a simple solution. I was on my way to print this 🤔
  23. Another idea on my todo list too - for some reason i cant see your images though? (Please share thingiverse link too 🙏)
  24. ⚠️ Warning ⚠️ - Lengthy Opinion in response to your helpful recommendation 😁 : --> When it comes to finishing, im not sure sanding, spraying, polishing is my strength - ive tried but i always end up with something i just dont like. Call it OCD. Occasionally i print something that looks OEM, like these sleeves i printed for my car's vent controls. Straight off the print bed, literally looks like it was made for the car, and in this case the contours from the print actually look intentional. Given the position of this stem cover, staring at it while riding my matt black propel, with even the slightest blemish, would just not work for me. My initial learnings from 3D printing are that its no doubt a must have tool in everyones homes, ive already redeemed my outlay on useful prints within a month of ownership, but there are limitations on the amount of time you are willing to spend on designs and finishing products, vs. going out and just buying the equivalent (if it exists 😜).
  25. Ive literally got this on my todo list - total coincidence that i see this. Not sure i could live with the print lines vs. just keeping the OEM part though now that ive seen an end result. Off the topic a little, but the Giant Defy comes with a compatible stem for the propel that really looks nice if you can source one.
