FWIW i 100% disagree with this statement. Its an open/free market - you can ignore the offers.

I've bought a couple of "sight unseen" Diverge gravel bikes from Bike Market/WebuyBicycles and had good experiences both times. I've also been low balled a ton of times on some of my ads, which i simply ignore. What is useful is that the bikes they make offers on, are literally all sold with in a couple of weeks after that, giving me indication of product popularity.

I was in 1A and missed the sub 3 by 36 seconds. only 21 riders in our batch of 341 finishers went below 3. i took a minute off my chappies record yesterday hanging onto that group but got dropped in the decent. (A PB that stood for >4yrs) there is fitness and then there is endurance-fitness that i dont think ive worked hard enough for. next year we try again 😁

NGL last year felt like we had really mis-matched riders in the group in terms of seeding. Not just the usual zig-zagging you see from the newbie's, but the total lack of fitness getting up Edinburgh drive. With finish time being quite resolute on their seedings for this year (so far), im interested to see how 400 of us in one batch handle the start into Muizenburg.

People - please let those you know or yourselves heed this note in the brief for any of the top groups --->>>> "Hospital Bend The descent of Hospital bend (after 5km from the start) is extremely fast and narrow. After the crash in 1A last year we have re-designed the layout at the top of the hill to force you into 2 lanes BEFORE the downhill commences. You will be forced into only 2 lanes at the top because that is the width that is available at the bottom. DO NOT attempt to go outside any barriers or to change lanes (there are cateyes - see below), or to use the 3rd lane that is briefly available on the right for part of the descent (that will be coned off as well). These are all likely to cause a crash at the point where the road narrows back to 2 lanes or if a cone gets knocked into the flow of cyclists. You should be able to ride the entire descent without the need to change your line." After all the experimentation, giving up on this design. Got it to a place of "strength", but break anxiety wasn't worth getting a good mount. The CNC adapter's supplied by @Jono are just way better looking and will last. Can recommend them for sale on the hub.

Beefing up the design somewhat - and move to PETG probably the biggest gain.

Yoh - another break, same point in the design - my varia has asked for it to be returned to manufacturer for fear of road rash 😁

I think the SL8 will make you a happy guy ... you can run 30c and it'll smash your PBs
