  1. at FUN Gaalen this weekend the annual 24H took/is taking place Weather forecast was completely turned on it's head and instead of a shower during the day yesterday, it bucketed last night causing mayhem with the trails for the night ride and this morning... however, a great time was had by all and I understand is still being had by some now. I could only a time for 1 photo taking lap (awesome route btw) yesterday. I went a bit bos with photo taking, might share more of my plethora (or as one would say in Afrikaan, n k*khuis vol) later
  2. No more "E" assistance ... back on my regular Fattie Not enough face for the smile these trails give me!!! Summer!! this was 5:30am The extension of the Gully trail involves a bit of climbing but the reward.. is face flapping ST for a good couple of kms (can't remember how long it is now) The river crossing at the end of Tant Miems, always welcoming on a hot day after the ride down
  3. I've been through some of the specs, I'm missing this. What should I be looking for? A refresh rate of not less than.......?
  4. Thanks Escapee
  5. Thanks. not keen on a curve though
  6. Was literally just looking at this too Thanks Hisense also offer a 4 year service guarantee as opposed to Samsung's 2 year. from Makro 3 years from Takealot
  7. FUN Gaalens on the Levo again this past Saturday... lung busting fun!!
  8. So if there's a good deal on a 65" with a res like this, you'd recommend that then?
  9. Well.... I'm not using any the moment (have never used /watched a smart tv) My Apple tv's plugged in but I haven't used NF or anything else yet.. But I'd like the facility there if I ever do want it. I've been going what's been advised here, narrowing down what I'd like and I'm see what deals happen next Friday. I'll be away , So my purchase will have to be online. So far I'm looking at these two in no order of preference https://www.takealot.com/samsung-55-inch-h6400-series-6-smart-full-hd-3d-tv/PLID32848042?gclid=CjwKCAiAxarQBRAmEiwA6YcGKAdJyLayrm5hx5ZBsAzlavd6RHln_HxNYlZEZGvBjhrpSUwcRYF81BoCNIIQAvD_BwE https://www.takealot.com/samsung-55-uhd-flat-led-smart-tv/PLID45213939?gclid=CjwKCAiAxarQBRAmEiwA6YcGKDg8rbBq-t089Q7i6rGX9TSSZDCZk0svprLqtanjLaN2orgaIzoIJxoCyVcQAvD_BwE
  10. this....
  11. good to know... thanks But now... what do you get from a Samsung series 5 that a top of the range Hisense won't give you?
  12. After almost 13 years of flawless service from my first ever 4 ton, 42" flat screen LG tv... I'm thinking of upgrading. But man... it's confusing!! LED.... OLED...Curved, Straight... UHD... so many of words... I guess, I'd be prepared to spend up to 20K, IF it it's justified.. but do I need to? I'd prefer letting go of 10 to mid teens worth of ZARs Makro's my usual retailer of choice, mostly hassle free situations when there're product problems. I'm no brand bitch, but I guess I feel better about buying a Samsung and LG. Are the HiSenses etc as good?
  13. I had my first real ride on an Ebike, a Levo, at VG yesterday... I rode trails I'm pretty used to and know quite well.. It was incredible! NOTHING, was easy... everything was just FAST! FLIPPEN FAST!! Naysayers... pffffft... I roll my eyes at you, tell me why these shouldn't be allowed? If you don't like it.. don't ride it. I took a bit of strain through the really technical sections where I'm used to being able to throw my Fattie around a bit more (being almost 10kgs lighter), but other than that it was hardly any different to riding my regular bike. (except for the turbo of course) I rode what i'd usually ride in around 3 hours in under 2 and half with a HR equal to that of my last 3 rides on the same trails. The concrete road at VG is never easy, it wasn't easy either yesterday, but I maxed my HR flying up.
  14. Another brilliant day out at FUN Gaalen... perhaps not as picturesque as posts of late on here (julle mense ry maar in mooi plekke) But mooi nonetheless Near the start of the River Trail.. reeds being reborn after the arson... Heading up Oom Piet's... our Mountain is pretty too The (dreaded to some) Floating Bridge heading back on the River Trail Spotted some of these bikeless weird creatures while out there... called themselves Trail runners ...
  15. The River trail at FUN Gaalen... Not enough can be said about how fah-lippen awesome this stretch of trail is! It's such a pity that thanks to some riders who have been utter boxes (and an unreasonable land owner/tenant) the last less than a km has been blocked and the trail can thusly not be completed and you have to double back... HOWEVER... there's still SO much of the trail on both banks of the river, you still need to stretch your face super wide to fit the smile from riding it! Although an act of arson, destroyed most of the famous reed tunnels.. there're still some left.. the new ones are growing pretty quick too! Some of the Warrior obstacles along the route A tricky suspension bridge to end off the ride... I LOVE this place!!
  16. What kind of sorcery IS this??? How can this place, when it's already SO awesome,.... get BETTER??!!?? Brilliant ride at FUN Gaalens this morning slipped a bit with this pano, but decided to post anyway
  17. I've got my setup in my "cave", no tv there at this point (disgusting I know, a Man Cave without a tv) So I'll have to make do with something else. I guess I could try using an Apple TV and get a cheaper monitor, but then I'd still using my phone which I'm trying to avoid PS:- agree on the iPad mini point, too small.
  18. Well, I think this is my issue... seems all stuff is pretty much redundant now. I went onto the support page as suggested (don't know why I didn't just try that first #facepalm!) All info pretty much points to my Macbook being too old to support running Zwift. My iPads are all too old too, can;t even download the app. I too must resist this buying urge now... Or... find a second hand iPad Air
  19. Apologies if this' already been covered in here... Got my trainer and I'm ready to Zwift.. but have only been able to use my iPhone so far as my Macbook keeps crashing by the time the app gets to this screen .. it starts stuttering ans then it reboots Using my phone isn't the worst, but the there's the obvious screen size that's not great and then I can't access my phone while running the app. Any suggestions what I can to sort my Macbook out?
  20. Cradle Cruise.... It's almost like we skipped spring and jumped straight to summer with day time temps nearing 30 daily BUT... my nipples are still telling me winter mornings aren't over yet
  21. I saw lots of Red Hub route markers up for an event they were having the next day. But I don't know if they're involved with the trails or just using the venue
  22. The new management invited me to give the trails a bash again after an "issue" arose when they used one of my images on IG without consulting me.. a bit of an argument ensued between myself and the lady dealing with the account. I was contacted by a very nice guy called Junior, who apologised for the way it was handled, asked when last I was there and upon hearing it was a while, said I should come round some time and see what they're like now. My previous position on the owner hasn't changed. The staff I met that are in charge of the trails are nice guys.
  23. I was invited by the new trail management at Cradle Moon Lodge to give the trails in their current state a bash and share my experience with them... I've had my fair share to say about all the goings on that happened when Heia Safari transitioned to Cradle Moon Lodge .. so no double standards here by me going.. Trails are pretty much as I remember them from about 2 years ago (I think that's the last time I was there) Minor Changes to yellow, like the addition of these bridges for when the rains (hopefully soon) come blue gum(?)forest areas the same, nice and flowy The view of the dam is always pretty no matter where.. it's a real privilege to ride in this country and see scenes like this up close Overall, nice ride, red and yellow about 30km and just over 700m climbing.. But I'd have to be really desperate to be torn away from my beloved VG for a ride
  24. The awesomeness at FUN Gaalen just doesn't end!! More magic discovered today thanks to Vic's advice.. (for those familiar with the trails) Gully has been extended and is almost all ST.. FAST!!! ST It involves a bit of doubling back on yourself.. BUT, it is SO worth it.. ST for days!! Concrete road is always a b!t*h.. but the rewards always make it worthwhile The extension of Gully as seen from the bottom taken from the top, heading down (took the pic from the wrong side , angle doesn't show what I wanted to, but you get an idea of the singletrack going down )
  25. Argh! I was torn between using this photo or not because of that! The wind was so woes and I was battling to steady the bike, that's why it's off Centre Saddle's straight .. I'm just k*k
