  1. Has anyone had probelms with Kenda UST tyres and sealant? This is on their website and on the plastic tyre hanger thingie in the shop: ATTENTION KENDA VALUED CUSTOMERS KENDA DOES NOT ENDORSE THE USE OF ANY FLUID BASED SEALANT PRODUCTS IN KENDA TUBE TYPE OR TUBELESS TYPE TIRES. USE OF ANY FLUID BASED PRODUCT IN KENDA TIRES WILL BE AT YOUR OWN RISK AND WILL VOID ANY WARRANTY CLAIMS.
  2. Find a grassy area and ride around while you practice clipping in and out. Be prepared for a few falls. Or do it in a paved car park and make some new scars!
  3. At the moment, I cant afford either option. But if I could, I would get the handbuilts and know that they dont look as bling, but I feel more confident on them. DT Hubs have a great reputation. I think 819's make sense in that they are UST and you dont have to f@rt around with conversions and if you think you have enough spokes - then you are good to go. (My current wheels have 28 spokes - standard 2008 Giant Anthem spec. And I am constantly waiting for the broken spokes to start) Reading what I have written above, it looks like I know what I am talking about. Not so - its just my opinion based on what I have read here and there. I havent ridden anything except my own wheels. (I dont know what's worse - a broken spoke or JB ripping through someone's un/educated opinioin)splat2009-01-15 06:46:13
  4. According to the website, they are about 1680 (+ skewers). About R4700.00 @ CycleLab, I think. Shimano doesnt usually publish weight limits on thier wheels. If you are heavy on the scale, or your equipement, you might be better off with 32 spoke handbuilts. I am considering XT Hubs, DT Comp spokes and 819 rims for my 100kg body.
  5. What do these go for? Just short of 5 Grand?
  6. www.sportsdirect.co.za They do have a lot of stuff and prices are reasonable. Nice to have options... CWC could do with a bit more work. There is a lot of stuff that is in the shop, but not on the web.
  7. I see that Lourens has moved from Willie's to the Northgate Island branch. From what I could understand, its only the JHB branches that have been sold and the CT branches haven't... Still not clear on who owns what then. AM is still involved as 'The Face Of Cyclelab' and as a sort of consultant, I suppose. (There, more fuel for the fire)splat2009-01-14 06:40:41

  9. That is why Chain Reaction Cycles is becoming more and more popular! Speaking of which, I seemed to have missed the boat on a group order in Cape Town. Still have a wish list...

  12. Only had good experiences with them. Been using them for years. Sometimes are a b!tch to get off, but maybe that's just my bad plier skills...
  13. How busy were they? Did you see staff standing around doing nothing?
  14. What is wrong with your current/original BB? I doubt that you will feel that much difference with the ceramic bearings and aren't they generally a little more precious and require more care and attention? In my opinion, they wouldn't be worth the extra cash. But I have never ridden with them, so what do I know?

  22. BMC were selling a Teng Tools one for about R700, I think. I got mine a few months ago. I did see the BBB one that comes with a few attachments, that was around R550.00 @ Crown Cycles in Claremont.
