  1. HKGK al weer!
  2. see if that saddle is OK. Often the oem saddles are soft and bad quality. I would suggest a tubeless conversion as well and possibly some different tyres. Otherwise you are good to go! 2 clowns did the Epic on fully rigid single speeds a year or two ago.
  3. AWESOME PICS!! I just walked to the Good Hope Centre to register for Argus. I didnt enjoy the heat - I would not want to be on a bike out there!
  4. I see Jon Lee is in it after his crash yesterday. Tough Bugger!
  5. I hope that chap puts on a helmet before he starts
  6. Hope Pro II are disc hubs, Pro III are non disc. They do build complete wheelsets with Pro III straight pull hubs, but come with DT rims. Hubs aren't available seperately yet. I would LOVE some Pro II's and 819 rims for myself... You still need to buy skewers if you get Hope hubs. Chain Reaction cycles is the way to go if you can get a group buy and free shipping.
  7. I dont have the Dura Ace wheels, but I do have a set of equips and have broken several spokes. My Elites seem to be much stronger, but the freehub body seems to be on its way out - it feels a bit loose (wobbles). Speak to bike shops and see how many Shimano wheels need attention vs Mavic and that might make up your mind. The DA's will surely be lighter as well...

It looks like he escaped the fires!
  11. You are not over it till you can phart with confidence! Jughead, what are a 'KD' ?
  12. I used the Jones XR for the Sani and they did fine. But: They are quite soft and the rear wore down VERY quickly during training - STAY OFF TAR! I got a puncture that wouldnt seal and it was a small hole. Seemed pretty delicate to me and on the whole didnt impress me. I dont think I will go that route again.
  13. Perhaps speak to Kevin @ BMC. They are in Woodstock around the corner from Avron's (if I can use him as a landmark). Or Shane @ Bowmans.
  14. Tim Brink was riding a Niner SS I think.
  15. You shouldn't need ghetto anything, just some sealant. Dunno if the bead of a 'normal' tyre is different to that of a UST.
  16. That's a nice machine. I can see why you want the topcap.
  17. Large Giant Anthem (2007 model) also stolen in Westville. Silver and gun metal standard build. Brand new monorail and crossmark tyres, serfas bar ends, and fizik saddle (not Gobi) Taken with chain seperate to bike, but no powerlink. Similar to this bike: This is not a picture of the bike taken splat2009-03-05 13:33:55
  18. The other love of my life and pride and joy was stolen on Sunday morning from a house in Westville. Its a medium 2008 Giant Anthem 1 with full XT groupset, including XT centrelock hubs and Mavic 819 rims, Bontrager Jones XR tyres, Gobi saddle and Ergon Enduro grips. Its got silver gear cables, blue KCNC chainring bolts, cassette lockring & rear mech pullies, blue bottle cage bolts and blue Hope skewers. They only took one rotor and the XT pedals were seperate as I was getting ready to pack the bike for travelling home. The fork was also jammed to full travel (sort of locked out) and the front mech cables are also pretty jammed. So it needs some work to get it to pristine conddition again. So it should be easy to spot, so please be on the look out. If the price is too good to be true, it probably is... splat2009-03-02 13:39:31

  20. I think it worked out well - for us anyway. We started in I, went to G and finished in H.
  21. Awesome and incredible event. Quite a weekend of highs and lows for me though. Day 1 - awesome. Day 2 - got a bit smacked Day 3 - still sore from previous day - still loved it Prize giving - win a bike Sunday morning - our 2 Sani bikes were stolen Sunday night - Mango left my lucky draw bike in Durban Monday - still smiling!
  22. Love the detail and the white Hudz. Awesome bike. Enjoy her!
  23. That's the way most of us started and learned our bunch skills or are still learning and moving up through the groups. Having said that, there are still crashes in the Tour de France, where you think these guys are the best bike handlers out there. But to get chucked into the top groups with no learning process is crazy.
  24. Bet you wont be going back there again...
