  1. Thanks My uncle has been building custom knifes for the last 30 odd years. I Think the handle would be the easier part. Manufacturing, heat treating and sharpening the blade takes some serious skills you don't learn over night.
  2. I Was doing some window shopping at Trappers in our mall while my wife was in one of the clothes shops. My eye cought this one and I couldn't resist ! Opinel NR.8 Inox with Olive wood handle. The handle looks way more beautiful in real life than on the picture.
  3. Hi NINJA. Thanks. Yes, bought it local from "The Knife Guy".
  4. About five weeks ago I placed an order @Santa '"from me to me". So this morning Mr. Claus rock's up at my crib and says to me: "Well lad I know you've been a good boy this year so I'm sure you won't mind this early delivery !" I Kept my calm, put on my absolute best poker face and replied:"No FAAAAARKING Problem !!!!" Spyderco Para Military 2 with blue scales and CPM S110V blade steel.
  5. Nice (the knive and the breakfast)
  6. Thank you.
  7. G19C and PM2. The only two chances you'll have to see me not carrying these two items is when I'm in the shower or when I'm riding my bike !
  8. Late to the party, only saw this thread last night. I've been carrying a knive since I was 10 and a pistol since 16. Can't imagine my live without it. This is my colection, three generations worth. Some was my gramp's, some my dad's and off course I keep expanding it when funds are available. I Like variety but the Spyderco's are my favourite. Got some Kershaw's, Puma's, Opinel's, CRKT's, Cold Steel's, Victorinox and a couple of custom hand made's by my uncle in there.
  9. This is Kromdraai Nature Reserve close to the Oshoek border post to Swaziland. Some nice climbing there, 700m in a 35km ride.
  10. Finally they've got eyelets in their rims ! I'll have good use for a set of 27.5 Flows in the near future !
  11. Best of luck to both of them. What ever the results will be, it must be one hell of an experience just to go to the Ofreakinlympics ! I'm not bashing JR's Spazepic but I would much rather represent my country on a bike looking like Alan's than on one looking the same (depending on temperature) as 10 others on the course. So ja, I'm with you Gen ! It's not about the bike, It's about the paint !
  12. It's not Friday yet................But I'll dare as well !
  13. Was an experiment to see how it works. No problem when you're seated but my knee did hit it a couple of times when pedalling out of the saddle on climbs. Changed it round to the front after the first ride.
  14. I'm getting a dropper for Christmas, from me to me ! Pike is a 140.
  15. I'll skip the details of where this is ! Very interesting route though. Was the first ride with my new Pyga.
  16. I Spoiled my wife, baby and in laws with a weekend away.........lekker in die bosveld ! That obviously resulted in no riding bike for me. So yesterday was not woman's day at my house....it was Pyga Day ! First ride was 38k's of not to demanding terrain to see if all is well. The ride was flawless with no, nadda and niks hickups. I Am definitely one happy Pyga customer ! Although the route was mild and I only used about 50-60% of the travel this bike has already impressed the hell out of me !
  17. Some more.
  18. So I finally finished my OneTen on Friday.
  19. Check back a page or two. I Did post some pics of the what I'm using and what the problem was. Don't worry you won't have this problem with your Stage. The Stage's hub spacing in the swingarm was changed. They call it a "+5" chain line and it eliminates the bad chain line on a 1X setup.
  20. So I had some time to kill and decided to fix the chain line problem on my oneten. Works perfectly. Chain line is spot on in a straight line with the chain on the middle sprocket on the cassette. Had to get the right length bolts from CRC and they should arrive sometime next week.
  21. Need some advice for pedal choice please. So all my previous bikes use to be "race bikes" and I have always used shimano 520 or 540 SPD's. This being my first venture in the "trail bike" department, I'm not sure witch pedals to buy for the oneten I'm building. Something like Shimano 530 or XT trail's or Crank Bros Candy or Mallet-E ? From what I've read the CB pedals feel completely different than the SPD's and doesn't release as easy as SPD either. Also read some very crappy reviews about CB pedals. Any thoughts, advice or recommendations ???
