  1. Two factors to consider are safety and getting something the child will want to wear. Thats why I bought my son a Crazy Stuff helmet. He also had a wipe out on a downhill tarred road with it and it protected his noggen. Getting his younger sister one too. You can get them from any good LBS http://www.bambinogoodies.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/Crazy-Stuff-Crocodile-helmet.jpg http://static.littlescandinavian.com/2011/12/Crazy-Stuff-lifestyle-2.jpg
  2. I had another thread about the poor software. I hope to get time this weekend to test the new Beta site but yeah, I could not get those trips working either.
  3. Welcome to your new life
  4. I went for the Schwin as it has back pedal brakes. This is important for a child as they are still too young to use lever brakes.
  5. I found out this morning my max heart rate is now 194 (I'm 37 and overweight)
  6. Dang the wind was strong this morning. We ended up going to the Coffee Works - was still worth it
  7. Sorry Clint, it was the Johnnie in me posting last night - my LBS confirmed this morning that it was a 16" I bought
  8. I will get to the point Clint, don't waste your money on cheap. I got my son a Schwin for R1100 a few months back and he loves it. Its a 12" and he is 5. Buy the right bike for your child, don't let them grow into it else you will have a situation where they don't want to cycle. MORNING EDIT: Correction, 16"
  9. I've been on this forum longer than your 10 posts and we have had times where Hubbers where furious with all brands including your beloved Garmin. My rant is the software not the hardware.
  10. Great to hear you came right
  11. That was awesome
  12. Slowbee, what time? If its early morning then I'm up to it. My daughter & her gran want to go up Table Mountain so this could be a win-win situation for us. I ride I while they do site seeing.
  13. Still not tried beta software (had other stuff to do) but once again on my morning ride the device is awesome. Its easy to use and works great. I've decided to make piece with the fact that if I want to monitor my stats with a 1TB database of historic data then my 35 might not be the answer. But for an all in one device that replaced separate devices, I'm happy with it.
  14. +1 Enjoy. The only regret I ever had about mine was I bought it too late for my son. The few times he got to spend in it where awesome for him. His little sister loves it so much that she gets so excited when she sees me gear up. She rushes off to fetch her helmet. The only thing I would recommend if you don't already have is an extra water bottle cage (your now carrying water for two) and a proper child size helmet. Enjoy
  15. Thanks, will meet up at CTICC in the morning.
  16. I also remember reading somewhere that there is some setting to boost the seek time but it uses more juice. This morning I went for a ride and within a few seconds of switching on the device it found the satellites. Considering that I've not used my device in over a month (the sattelite positions are always changing) and where I switched on the device is a deadzone for my TomTom unless it has the very latest info for sattelites which need to have been loaded in the last 7 days. I must say that besides the software issue in my original post (and I will not comment anymore till I test the new beta), I really like the device. It was great using it this morning, the display is clear and I had zero problems with it.
  17. I saw someone in CBD with it on his bike and what is nice about it is it takes up no space. With the seat you need to keep on taking it on and off. This is a problem when you only have one bike.
  18. OK I found that when I go for a ride and my daughter wants to sleep, she sleeps much better when I recline the seat. She also wears a toddler helmet which tends to be bulky and thats why reclining is important.
  19. My internet is funky tonight so will first test tomorrow before I give any comment.

  21. I have the Giant seat and personally believe its better than the Weeride Kangaroo as it can recline. This is a very important when hitting the road and little one wants to hit club duvet. My daughter has been in the "saddle" since she was 8mths and the Giant seat has always been a winner. She is now 2yrs. My 5year old son still enjoys going for a ride. I will say the advantage the Weeride has is that its mounted in front of the rider and this could put a nervous mom at ease but if the child gets a bit older, then it would be rather cumbersome. I just feel because of this the Weeride has a limited life span.
  22. Sadly a Garmin costs a tad more than the R1400 I paid for the Bryton
  23. I'm keen on the morning ride ! Where can I get more info? I work a block from CTIC
  24. Thanks, mailing you. I really hope this is going to turn my frown upside down (OK, that was cheasy)
  25. I was about to rant about that too and was not sure if it was my side. Really is not funny.
