  1. That sucks. Its now the start of the silly season where motorists feel they can knock down roadies till the Argus.
  2. I've bought all my tools locally. You will be surprised how cheap local LBS and CWC can be
  3. +1 OP I saw a similar one on Saturday but he uses a wheel clamp to fasten it.
  4. Just about every week we have been taking our kids to McDonalds to go play there. We buy one McMixa meal which is one small burger and two milkshakes. Between the two hungry monsters they have yet to eat that single burger ... I don't blame them
  5. As long as you wear a helmut
  6. Well your posts have always been of value over the years and I also agree that one should challenge companies to their products and claims in public.
  7. When I bought my car in February I just emailed my broker to say I'm buying an i10 from Stellenbosch Hyundai and he must contact person X and the car is being financed with Y. He did all the work for me
  8. Agree. My bike insurance is R65 per month (inclusing my kit). But I've not noticed anybody on the Hub talk about this even though we have all wondered when such a device would be available.
  9. Agree. I've got a friend who every year on the anniversary of his cover, he battles it out with Outsurance to renegotiate his cover. He is quick to tell everyone how he saves so much but the time and pain he spends sorting it out is not worth it.
  10. Work through a broker and stop falling for the "skip the middleman" spin. Funny how it worked out cheaper using a broker
  11. http://www.tracetec.net/products.php From their site: * The device fits all bicycle types making it the most comprehensive recovery product available today; * is very small and completely wireless, weighing less than 10g; * is permanently active and runs on an independent battery with a life span of 2 to 3 years; * is fitted with hi-tech and reliable transmitters; * Tracetec offers the benefits of month to month contracts. * From only R65.00 per month Just interested to hear if any Hubbers use this???
  12. Because at the price of a Garmin, more people can afford a Bryton. Perhaps if Groupon had a Garmin special for R1399 and sold hundreds we would then also get many people complaining.
  13. LBS = Local Bike Store
  14. Agree. As for the mount, I too original felt it would fall off but you really need to do a 90 degree swivel to get that right. Also make sure you use both o-rings to fasten the bracket to your bike. If I payed full RRP I would give this an onion but its a good deal at the special price. I will say you get what you pay for with these devices and for many people the 35 has everything you need. and what it might lack could be achieved with Endomondo on any feature phone
  15. This is a very nice beginners bike for R3K. I started on a similar bike in 2009 and still have it as my only bike. Did upgrades as needed. http://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/giant-revel-4
  16. Firstly welcome to the Hub and enjoy your stay. The Hub is a good place to ask such questions. On the bike from Makro, the answer is a big "NO!". Don't waste your time or money. You can get an entry level bike from a good bike store for between R2500 - R5000. You need something where you can upgrade the parts. If you could extend your budget to R10K then it gets much better. Also you need to factor in your helmet and other kit and this can be from R200 to R2K.
  17. LOL - I forgot about those. Laughed so loud I needed one to stop me from falling out of my chair
  18. Sorry Chris, your first up, no real Hubber believes in Chain Checkers: http://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/cruz-pro-chain-checker http://www.cwcycles.co.za/sites/default/files/imagecache/product-holder/product_images/cruz_chain_checker_22.jpg
  19. So lets see what snake oil stuff your LBS sells
  20. Perhaps you can make a Facebook group. This was short notice else I would have done it as Cape Town is too far for me. I wanted to start a Helderberg ride as well but Stellies is way cooler for such an event
  21. Hey, we call our traffic lights robots, we can call it whatever we want to. Thats what makes us special in the Cape
  22. Loot has all three books and cheaper. Awesome, might get these for myself.
  23. AWESOME I'm buying one right now for my son. Its R155 at Loot http://www.loot.co.za/product/daniel-lipkowitz-the-lego-ideas-book/ddpm-1653-g830
  24. The answer has to be given ... yes, very much so
