  1. The software is crap but its getting better - this is for me the only weak point with the product. What OS are your running? As mentioned by akneethling, it runs through your browser. You should use non-IE browser for the product. Also do a firmware upgrade.
  2. I've got the PC9 and just got given a very old PC15 - brilliant HRMs and if you have any issues with signal strength then just replace the battery (CR2032 at R15 from Clicks). I have just upgraded to the Bryton 35T and there is a big improvement in the HRM strap signal strength. If this is your first HRM, then go for it, if your upgrading then rather get something more expensive.
  3. I plan to get some cheap pedals and try out a different set. I really cannot see how I could have bent the SPDs and the threads are not stripped, I did double check.
  4. For the last few months my wife has been telling me my left pedal is bent each time she goes for a ride. I've got a bad ankle (feel down some stairs last year) and its hard for me to always pick these things up as I've always put it down to the bad ankle. Two weeks ago I reinstalled the crank, a newish SRam X5 (external BB) with about 500km on them, and I could feel the bent pedal now that I'm aware of it. The pedals are Shimano M520 SPDs and done about 1000km on them and I got them after I bust my ankle. Would it be possible that they where faulty from the beginning or did I really bend the left axle? I've not had any falls and the only thing I can think of is my bike falling down onto brick paving.
  5. We had bad rain last night, and the trails should be very very muddy.
  6. Yesterday I saw a potential organ donor as she jumped a red robot in Woodstock commuting to work. I decided not to get worked up as its her choice to do such a dangerous thing. Personally I stop at stop streets and red robots as I'm trying to set an example to my kids - the only other cyclists I really care about.
  7. Had a tuna salad with feta cheese (part of my high protein diet) and then a large beef samosa from Food Lovers (the best samsosas in Cape Town)
  8. Well you know why a dog licks its butt? To get the taste of instant coffee out of its mouth
  9. The first thing I discovered when I started to cycle was the concept of a diet to lose weight or a lifestyle change by following a sports diet. The first one is where you starve and deprive your body to get your weight down. The second is eating what your body wants when it needs it. Personally I've just started a low carb high protein diet (3rd week) and while its great, as soon as I start training again I will be consuming carbs during my rides. Look at the famous AJ Muti mix, best drink around for hitting the trails or training hard and its high in carbs. I've learn't to listen to my body, it knows best.
  10. She must be squeezing out another hit ...
  11. Its your choice not to consume GM foods and I respect it but the internet is a dangerous place with lots of misguided information (on both sides). I have no issue with GM foods, same as I've no issue using Conola Oil for cooking
  12. Welcome. Do you have a link to the specific Big Nine your interest in and what is the price? and your budget?
  13. Agree Since I stopped cycling the last 13 months I've picked up about 3kg in weight but lost all my muscles and I look like a lycra sausage when I'm on the saddle. I say screw the scale, let your clothe size and your fitness levels be your guide.
  14. Its arrived, eventually. Busy charging it and will test it out tomorrow
  15. Well I got an email to say the courier service will deliver mine soon - bummer thing is Groupon is next door to us (20m) and they could not even drop it off at my office.... most likely will not get mine for the weekend.
  16. Check your SPAM box, lately Groupon has been flagged as spam. I just checked the tracking number and goods still in Jozie ... was hoping to use it this weekend.
  17. I have two Leathermans, 3 Kershaws (different sized) and then a Swiss. Except for the Swiss, the others I bought second hand for a fraction of the replacement cost. I always travel with the Leathermans and the wife usually has Kershaws with her (when you got kids you need to travel like McGyver)
  18. Where do we start: seat clamp; pedal; crank; BB; crickets in the frame ....
  19. I'm so building one for the kids.
  20. Cool, just got my Groupon mail with courier tracking number. Stock just got scanned in at Joburg.
  21. A decent bike is going to cost money but the spin-off is he is going to enjoy cycling more with this bike than a game junk one. Reason why we also bought a decent one for my 5yr old.
  22. Also got the Bell Toddler and it comes with lights at the back. They retail for about R400 but so worth it. My daughter was 9mths old when I first got it. She is now 2yrs and ready for her next helmet. Guys, keep in mind that a child needs a snug fitting helmet and the toddler helmets are short term (12-24mths of age). Don't buy oversized. As per my pic, I got my son the Crazy Stuff helmet - he loves it
  23. I made my daughter wear her toddler bike helmet when she was using it on the pavement for this reason and I'm glad I did. Work 100% in the house. We would have kept ours but with all the other bikes, she moved on. My 5yrs old loved it still. We ended up donating ours to her creche.
  24. Those are awesome. My daughter just went off hers and is on the Y-bike. My son is in transition from Extreme Bike (also y-bike) to his Schwinn back pedal bike.
  25. Schweet Upgrade his V brakes to these http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=34698 - LX (I got the XTs and they are the bomb)
