  1. RIP I see wikipedia has already been updated: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burry_Stander
  2. And to think that I could fit all of those books in digital format on a single e-reader ... buts its not the same.
  3. Does not matter, its part of the MTB-Bro Code - a MTB Bro should not ride without a shell regardless
  4. Good thing you did not retaliate by throwing your water bottle at them
  5. Where you guys get that knife? I like the idea - but more for cutting biltong a fruit and the farm stalls.
  6. http://www.iol.co.za/lifestyle/the-cycle-path-to-happiness-1.1446568 Awesome article. I agree it really puts me into a state of meditation.
  7. Pepper stream spray works, its pepper mist spray that we should not use in the Cape. Just visit a good security store to help you. SWAT is one of the best products. A lot of stores also stock jumbo sized training sprays, might be worth the extra expense to get one. Nothing worst than when your in an emergency and you don't know how to use your spray.
  8. 20 years ago I chased a mugger who just mugged an old lady a block from where I lived in the Strand. Eventually I caught up to him and he turned around to attack me ... survival instincts kicked in and I ran away. When I returned to the scene with the cops we found a 30cm knife and cops told me that running away was the only right thing to do. About 2yrs back a women was being mugged in front of our flat in Somerset West. This time I only intervened to ensure the safety of the victim. The mugger got such a fright when I started shouting for more help as I ran to assist that he bolted down the road. The victim was uninjured and we recovered all her possessions. Our lives are more important thing.
  9. MOD NOTE: This thread is getting a bit heated and while the topic is one that needs to be discussed, making it personal and making racial attacks is not on. Edit: After reading through the thread and moderating a lot of posts, this thread is now locked. Please go play with your bikes outside ... the weather is too awesome to be inside
  10. I think too many are too quick to judge without thinking for one moment. I had a reality check a few years back when I saw a black guy race like a bat out of hell past me one day as I was walking to the local Spar to get some lunch. I was still thinking should I phone the cops, should I post on The Hub, etc The guy was suspiciously fast, he was cycling a MTB, and it had a half bike attached to it. It screamed a crime has just happened. On my return from the Spar, the same fella cam cruising past me with a kid on the half-bike. It dawned on me that he was racing to get his employers son at the primary school down the road and was racing against the clock. Since that day I've changed my attitude.
  11. Not nice. I've notice a lot of dodgy trouble making people in Somerset West lately, especially yesterday. Hope you get her back.
  12. I have a problem with a fake as its intention is to deceive you, but if your selling me the white labeled product of the better known brand, then its all ethical and most welcome.
  13. And its important that you do so we can learn from those experiences.
  14. As per title: Which are the best XBox fitness kinect games? Just got an XBox with Kinect for kids and now I'm looking for fitness games. Due to the bad weather lately and my time constraints, I need to consider using my XBox as a substitute to cycling. Downloaded the Nike+ demo and I was smashed after 5 minutes. My eldest has been training at her home with Dance Central 1&2 and I got #2 - I find dancing to be also a good form of exercise
  15. Big +1 Really hope to be on the next one
  16. I prefer to put my tjops on the coals
  17. Blame it on 12.12.12 12:12 syndrome ... forget that, its just the Hub being normal
  18. Here is the seat I got, see SW has it for a good price. My 2yr old loves it and I often take my 5yr old on it. http://www.sportsman...-baby-seat.html http://www.sportsmanswarehouse.co.za/images/product/1013084_1198860.jpg EDIT: And I see the following stores have stock JHB East Stoneridge Mall, Modderfontein 011 452 0753 JHB East Park Meadows Shopping Centre, JHB (011) 615 9933 JHB East East Rand Value Mall, Boksburg (011) 823 3203 JHB North Fourways Crossing Retail Centre, JHB (011) 467 0997 JHB North Blackheath Pavilion, Cresta (011) 476 6882 JHB North Woodmead Super Value Centre, JHB (011) 802 8208 JHB South The Palms, Vanderbijlpark (016) 933 8284 JHB South The Glen Shopping Centre, JHB (011) 435 3888 JHB West West Rand Retail Crossing, Roodepoort (011) 475 0250 JHB West Princess Crossing Shopping Centre, Roodepoort (011) 768 0167
  19. These are decent kiddies helmets from CWC http://www.cwcycles....-kiddies-helmet Its got a light which actually comes in handy and good price at R150. You might even want CWC to ship to your holiday destination
  20. Make sure helmet fits little Hubber snuggly. Be prepared to budget up to R500 and do not compromise on safety. We had another thread going here but my kids love the Giant seat that reclines - RRP should be R1300 now days and any decent LBS will stock it. But if your bike uses disc brakes, then you need to make sure the rack part will fit your bike which the GIANT does. But if your bike is dual-suas, then you need a seat that clamps to your seat post.
  21. If he needs training wheels then check out the Giant ones (about RRP 125) as usually the standard ones with the bike a terrible. I just got them for my son for his 16" and now all he wants to do is ride. I found with his previous bike the training wheels kept on falling off and could not be set, the Giant can be set for any bike 12"-24"
  22. Excuse me, but your goat is not wearing his seatbelt ! This was just too random on the N2 on Friday not to take a photo. Could not stop laughing.
  23. Very easy to post that from the safety of your chair. You obviously do not know the area where the photo was taken, but I do as I work across the road. Its one of the few places in the CBD where we do not have security guards. If it was 30m further down, then he would have been able to get the assistance from at least 2 guards. And safety comes first, we can always replaces our bikes but we can never replaces our lives. The Hubber did the best thing possible under those circumstances as hero's belong in Hollywood movies and not dead on our sidewalks.
  24. Your not going to use half the tools but the price is not bad for an all in one.
