  1. The biggest mistake a lot of us make is not to report even the most mundane criminal event. While it might seem that police do not do enough, reporting crimes might make the difference when they need to allocate their limited resources. It also helps armed response to strategically place their guys in these hot spots.
  2. Not my wall, need to take photos but its sad we need to start looking like Jozie. I'm now in corner of Bonaero & Voortrekker in Bridgewater (can see the station platform from my kitchen). Funny that the criminals where not the usual suspects from the station. Would rather tell you offline who they where as there are still criminal investigations. Lets just say me moving in resulted in the problem being one step closer to resolved.
  3. In the mid 80's we had a kid from Jozie in our class and his dad started a local security firm. First time ever we saw automatic firearms. Considering that this was Gordons Bay that has the Navy College. Heck, I did not even see automatic firearms in the Naval College when we use to go there. I now live in Somerset West and we have lots of armed response but its very seldom you will see any of them with automatic weapons. Its Slaapstad.
  4. I fitted these rolling spikes to my perimeter wall this last week as my new house had 22 break-ins in the last 6 months before I moved in last week. Just the day before my move they stole two outside brass taps and a basin from the maids toilet. Only had the house for a week but no more incidents. Now my neighbours also want to fit them. They cost R100 pm (ex VAT, delivery is R250 per order). Very easy DIY project and can be fitted on flat surfaces and precast walls. This should never be your only defence but it works very well as a deterrent. Nothing will stop a criminal who has targeted your house but it will stop crimes of opportunity. http://www.starwalls.co.za http://www.starwalls.co.za/resources/graphics/jpeg/photo/DSC01417.jpg
  5. +1 Responsible firearm ownership. Reason why we handed in our firearm as neither my wife or I would be able to use it in a situation.
  6. Thanks, don't want to derail this thread so I will keep my comments for another thread.
  7. I get rather irritated when people feel they need to use pseudo names when describing criminals. So are they implying it was coloured kids or was it black kids (from Bravo Charlie)? Or where the caucasian? Its not illegal to use a persons physical characteristics to describe them and its especially important when its criminals.
  8. What is the art form called? I love it and have never viewed it as vandalism but as art (the same as artistic graffiti). I would love to get this done on my precast wall one-day.
  9. Sounds like the start of a bad Blou Bille joke
  10. Burp ... I just got an itch to buy a Brooks now as I was reading Bicycling Science. I'm glad to see the B17 Honey its cheaper local than from CRC Now to explain to wife why I'm not buying groceries this week - anybody want to buy my Go Pro Naked?
  11. Don't believe it dose not happen in first world countries. Bike theft is a global problem and not just limited to South Africa.
  12. Over the years I've ranted about development riders. These individuals are just making it harder and harder for some us to support their cause and are ruining it for others.
  13. MOD NOTE: The removal of posts has nothing to do with homophobia (my younger brother is gay and I'm proud of him). There is a clear intention to push the limits again on this thread, please don't.
  14. I found skipping the "middleman" was not cheaper, work though a good broker and we actually save a lot not to mention I got someone to sought out my problems for me and he dose a good job.
  15. Its not criminal, but a breach of contract. I also hate it as I managed an IT store where the owner made us recite this long winded loop hole every time a customer paid by card. As a retailer you can also not offer a cash discount to credit card holders as the merchants require you to treat credit card sales as cash. In our business we don't care, you pay cash or card we charge you the same.
  16. Was about to say ... Going to grow my own veggie garden, but don't think yard is big enough for some cattle but we do have some nice grazing in the local parks
  17. Wot, you actually get to eat white bread! Luxury
  18. Mine is 4 days away and already spent, this was after I managed to put away 20% of my salary each month for the last 3 months. Just so many expenses when buying a house and I'm only moving in 3 weeks time
  19. ... and all mommy wanted was a back rub

  22. @Wayne Big +1 and also to all the other Hubbers who have assisted.
  23. Why do I get the feeling I've seen this idea as a concept floating on the interwebs.
  24. +1 Took me 2 years to use 3 bombs, just bought two more last week for R15 each.
