  1. Drunking parking causes people - not when do it like that, ouch!
  2. Wife wants to build another garage so I can get the current one for my man-cave
  3. Bad advice. I've got chest problems (had TB as a child) and I use to often get chest infections until recently. My doctor commended me for training/commuting with a HRM every time as it allowed me to see if I was getting sick. My body might tell me I'm out of breath and going to the max on an uphill because it is steep while the HRM was telling me something else. Not saying its for everybody, but for some like me its essential and even recommended by my doctor.
  4. I've got a Sigma PC9 and PC15. Used the PC9 for over 2 years daily and never had an issue with it. While I will agree that Polar is a far better brand, you cannot go wrong with the Sigma on a budget. You will also see that training with a HRM is totaly different and I cannot train without one anymore.
  5. I started doing this last year and it works. We also find it helps to mark the cables with a black marker on the rolls. Also marking them with childrens stickers or insulation tape also helps to group them.
  6. I need to do this as I often go all OCD when checking the doors at night.
  7. Most important thing is your life and you can never be replaced. I hope you never find yourself in a situation where you believe you need to rely on your firearm. And welcome to The Hub.
  8. I love this idea.
  9. Agree and since most farmers are on holiday this week, there is a shortage. My local fruit shop (where I also get quality meat from) explained to me why I should not buy meat in the week of Christmas and the new year. By the second week prices return to normal as they no longer have a supply issue. But i'm off to go braai my R80/kg Porterhouse Steak that I bought earlier this month before the mad rush
  10. No helmet, no ride: then you drag his butt out of the house, put his helmet on and make him ride. Did that to mine and they never looked back. Sometimes we need to drop the whole new-age approach parenting and go back to the basics. You're not going to put him off, actually being summer its easier to get them to wear helmets when they are riding in the sun as it offers them protection against the glare and heat.
  11. In my area primary school kids have been beaten up by grown men for their bikes. A kid got shot at in Stellenbosch. And so and so .... It happens all over the place, so teach kids how to be safe on the road and look out for all dangers.
  12. Don't agree because .... My son has recently discovered his bicycle and I now allow him to ride around our crescent alone once each night as I want to teach him confidence. I watch him as he comes to the one stop to make sure he obeys the rules of the road. On Friday night he did not and I reprimanded him, told him there was never an exception to the rules of the road. I see the best way as a parent to protect my son is by not removing him from our "dangerous" roads but to rather equip him with the skills and knowledge to be safer when he does ride on them.
  13. YBike is available from most toy stores like ToysRUs and baby stores. Price is R400. You could also order online from TakeAlot including delivery and they have stock in Cape Town which means same day or next (order as Cash On Delivery and they get it to you same day, little trick I learnt)
  14. Beyond awesome +1
  15. I've the full range of YBikes at home and the kids love them. Local brand (from my hometown) and built to last. I felt the JD Bug was not suitable for my son when he was 2. The YBike has better stability. My daughter is now 3 and she has been riding that YBike since she was 1. She has only now started to use the YBike Extreme (which is on par with the JD Bug) but still prefers the normal one. My son only started using the Extreme when he was 4. Also keep in mind those lever brakes on the JD Bug are useless and only there for mothers. Kids hands are not strong enough to use these breaks at such a young age. This is why a lot of brands don't even bother with them. I'm not dissing JD Bugs, I think they are great, but they are not the only good product out there. But no matter what you buy, your kid is going to love it. But please do not forget the helmet - worth spending good dosh on a proper one for your child.
  16. But I prefer spiders on the piano than crabs on the organ

  18. A good school friend with her own physical challenges shared this with me today. Hard to watch without getting a little bit emotional. To forget for just a second is sometimes all people need.
  19. All I can say is after my 1st work out yesterday morning my body is hurting .... damn I did not realise how unfit I let myself go. Need to get back into the saddle big time
  20. Yes, it seems to be part of a bigger Nike+ eco-system.
  21. I've had the demo for a year and decided to buy the application last week when I saw it on special for R100 at Incredible Connection. Last night I decided to give it a spin to set it up. Did my first workout this morning. Damn I'm unfit, seriously unfit. But its a great alternative to those like me that do not like the gym and don't get much time to cycle anymore. Anybody else currently using this for training? I'm first doing the fat burning (got a whole lot of that to burn right now).
