  1. Maybe just my experience, but road bikes tend to need a lot less maintenance than MTBs. Probably coz they get knocked about a lot less. I love road biking, just not the fact about the safety aspect becoming a problem...
  2. One more I dug out from my digital hyperspace...
  3. Thanks man
  4. Various shots from game parks (Laikipia, Kenya; Mala Mala, Mpumalanga; Kruger). Camera used: Canon D450. Lenses: Canon EF 70-200mm f2.8L IS II USM. Canon 18-55mm
  5. I see Jerkovic getting angry... He likes things to go his own way...
  6. Varies by manufacturer. Zipp are the only wheels I know of that have an easy to change freehub. All other wheels I have owned and tried have been a real pain... Saying that, I have never owned Boras. Always been outta my price range...

The bike collection at the end was an absolute NIGHTMARE!!!!! They stack according to the time you arrived back, fair enough, but I got back at 11.30 and found my bike in the 12:15-12:45 pack. I must have been in that pen for over an hour hour searching over 3000 bikes for mine. That needs some work.
  8. OK, false alarm, just spoke to him. No less shocking to know that some poor person went down hard. Condolences to all relatives and friends...
  9. Any details of the rider ID? I have a mate that commutes that route every morning, and cant get hold of him. Getting a bit worried...

Latest I just got from a mate on email who is already down there: Hi guys, just thought I could give you some news from down here, as I am sure that you are all packing etc for the weekend.. Wind has been picking up during the day to sometimes over 60km per hour. Gets quite hectic. Obvious problem is that the sea is mayhem! Can't swim in it. You can try, but strong chance you will drown...The wind is a S/Westerly. Great news however, according to Paul Wolff, this is the best weather for before the race, as the wind is due to change on Friday/Sat, to a S/Easterly, which will flatten the surf so race day should be great. The forecast for wind on Sat/Sun is 14km so it is really going to be a gently welcome breeze, as it is flippin hot during the day, even with the wind, 32 degrees…Come Sunday, it is forecast for the early 20's. Paul is fairly confident that the weather will be great for race conditions, although one wouldn't say so given the current situation, but he has done this many times, so he should know. Bad news however, is that irrespective, the water is going to be a tad on the chilly side, as the S/W has blown in all the nice cold water for you, and temp is going to be similar if not colder than last year, around the 12/13 degree mark… Those wetsuits are going to come in quite handy.. The wind is currently in your face on the outward run, and behind your back coming to the finish line.. So expect the opposite when/if the wind changes as forecast, which is great for Bunkers Hill, but not so cool on the beachfront. But as I said, it isn't going to be a huge wind. On the Bunkers Hill story. I was really hoping that the forces of nature would have flattened it a bit since last year, but alas, we haven't been assisted by the earth gods, as it is still long, and flippin, flippin, steep. Sorri…… There is a slight drizzle forecast, but again nothing too serious for Paul to be too concerned about. He is more worried about the cold water, and that there will be a bit of "surf" to get through, before you can really get going. But and I quote " if these guys can't swim through surf, they should be doing the f…….cking race!" So there you have it.. The beachfront is looking amazing. The road has been closed off, municipality is cleaning them like mad men possessed. We were here in December to do a recce for the set-up, and honestly it is literally a different city. Paul has done an amazing job! Other than that, the city is becoming alive, and you can feel the Ironman fervor coming to town. A few of the Pro's are here already, strutting their stuff up and down. Please also remember that the Expo, and registration are in different hotels this time round. Registration is at the same place, Holiday Inn, and Expo is at the Osner. But it is pretty well sign posted.. Best news however, is that Buccaneers have just installed Castle Milk Stout on tap! Just thought I would share that with you. Have a great flight, or whatever, and we will see you when you get down here.

  17. So the fact that I got no bonus  , means that I can't afford the Thule rack I had planned to buy myself for Xmas. Does anyone know if the Thule dealer out by Clearwater mall rents out racks at all?

  23. Wikipedia knows more than I do... Bell & Ross is a French watch company headed by the French and Swiss designers Bruno Belamich and Carlos A. Rosillo. The brand was launched in 1992, and the first watches were designed by Belamich and Rosillo and made by a German watchmaker, Sinn.[1] Watches such as the BR Instrument have been designed to replicate the shape of a cockpit instrument taken from an aircraft. The BR02 range caters for diving professionals through the use of highly legible dials and cases water resistant to withstand 1000 metres of pressure. Another offering is the Hydromax; which contains hydraulic fluid within the case to counteract the effects of external pressures. Bell & Ross's first watches were virtual re-issues of Sinn models and carried the Bell & Ross logo as well as Sinn's. The partnership ended in 2002, when Bell & Ross began its own independent production in their facilities La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland.[1] The aesthetic appeal of Bell & Ross is mirrored in their four design principles, namely optimal water resistance, highly accurate Swiss mechanical movements, clear visual indicators, such as those found on aircraft instrument panels, and special functions intended for specific uses. They also have a quartz line with the identical characteristics (except for the type of movement utilized) called the BR S that utilizes the highly regarded ETA 980.163 15 jewel quartz movement.
