  1. Rephrase my statement?? For what? I am entitled to my opinion. He may have done a lot for cycling, but it's not like he hasn't been rewarded from his inflated price bike shop. Need I remind you, he rides a Harley and drives a Porsche Cayenne that a lot of cyclists paid for. Sorry, but my statement stands.
  2. No-one has said it yet, or maybe I'm the only one who thinks so... Andrew McLean (there, I said it!) is a poephol.
  3. Evox's Muscle Punch 3DT and BSN's Endoburn both contain Methylhexaneamine, which the rugby players were banned for. Both are available at Dischem.

  5. Westdene Cycles has some good deals at the moment. Their shop was ravaged by fire some weeks back and most the clothing has smoke damage. All the stock is half price. Granted, the lighter colours have some unsightly stains, but if you go with the black and dark blue jerseys, you can pick up a good deal...
  6. Also noticed him by the roundabout by Brookwood trout farm, luckily had no punctures though...
  7. There are many rules regarding shorts. First of all, they don’t exist. Forget about them. The only acceptable garments to wear are bibs, no exceptions. But please, throw out your bibs when they start to wear out. Enough anatomy is revealed by the skin tight Lycra, we don’t need to see a transparent butt panel. To look cool, wear bibs, enough said.
  8. 1. Never ride behind some guys (hot) wife/girlfriend for km after km. Especially if said boyfriend/husband is in front altering the pace to try and shake you off, while you sit there with a 10-incher in your chamois. 2. For the ultimate in cool, roll up the cuffs of your shorts for that extra 1/4 inch of tanning space. 3. NO iPODS while racing. 4. Never clip in to your pedals while still in the starting pen. Insert your own below...
  9. The tour can be won and lost on SRAM.

  11. Whoah! I lived in the U.K. for many years, and the average bicycle courier goes through most red light intersections that are clear. I am not condoning riding through red lights, but you can't blame the state of the country on cyclists going through red traffic lights. Maybe thats why the pound has slumped lately. Darn couriers!!!!!
  12. This morning, I read the article "Man looks on as lions savage friend" - a pretty shocking story about a man who was killed by three lions. On a lion farm. Where he was sitting on the fence of the lion enclosure. Hang on... He was sitting on their fence. They didn't cunningly escape their enclosure and hunt this man down like calculated villains. They saw him sitting within their reach and did what lions do best. And yet, all three lions were apparently put down shortly after the attack. I just don't get it. The lions were only doing what lions are born to do, and surely it was the victim's mistake to be sitting on that fence. It stuns me that humans can meddle so much with nature and then act surprised when an unashamed and powerful predator simply does what it was designed to do. And just because it does it to a person, we think we have the right to "put it down". Lions are predators and we are prey. The fact that we invented cages and catch-poles doesn't change that fact. And if people could just respect this balance - either by leaving these animals in the wild where they belong, or by respecting their space in captivity - no one would get hurt. Especially those beautiful animals who we profess to love and protect. Never mind survival of the fittest. In today's world, it's the most arrogant species that survive and thrive. And yes, I know I'm a human being too, but when I read stories like this one, I'm ashamed to admit it. Excerpt from News24 article
  13. It seems like this is the team for 2011... The Schlecks Fabian Wegmann Linus Gerdeman Allessandro Ballan Jeepers.
  14. Should have seen the cradle. Looked like 94.7 had shifted weekends and route.
  15. Just not sure how accurate the speed function is though??? This is from the Jacaranda Satellite Classic. Definitely don't remember pulling that maximum speed out the bag....
  16. Agreed. My mistake. Ease up on the coffee, dude.
  17. For those who don't know about it, there is quite a nice little app called Endomondo for BB (and I think there is an iPhone version too). Basically plots your route via GPS and uploads it to the Endomondo.com site... Also provides you with Distance, Duration, Ave speed, Slowest and Fastest km on route.
  18. Anything under 2h45 will leave me smiling. Starting in D, so maybe, just maybe...
  19. D for me too, bud.
  20. R.I.P. Here is the article on News 24 http://www.news24.com/SouthAfrica/News/Taxi-causes-cyclists-death-20100925 Sad, sad, sad.
  21. Are there any group rides in the Northcliff area that go out on the weekends? I tried Northcliff Cycles last week, but the turn out was a grand total of 5 people (4 of whom turned back at 25km in.) Was hoping for a 3 hour (80km - 100km) at about +- 27km/h average.

  23. I am looking at getting a GPS shortly, but being fairly new to it all, I am torn between TomTom and Garmin products. Is one definitely a better brand than the other? Which has better maps? Or is it simply the same/very similar software wrapped in a different case under a different brand name?
  24. Not exactly a fair show of who is the better rider though, is it now. Cuntador didn't have to stop entirely, but he shouldn't have attacked either. The fact is he got into a group with arguably the Tours best descender (Samuel Sanchez) which gave him more of an advantage. Disappointing Cuntador.... Go Andy!!, teach him some manners on the Tourmalet.
