  1. Quite the opposite. It had a great run this past week or so. Thanks for asking! However, you seem triggered by me posting something which has sweet blue fokol to do with veganism. Why is that?

  3. Bloody hell. Forgot to add this:
  4. Two reasons: To dispel the 'malnourished, weak vegan' myth; It would be foolish to dismiss a mountain of nutritional evidence supporting a balanced, whole food plant-based diet.
  5. I don't have much time today to spend here, so just going to bang out two responses. On the whole 'religion' shtick. Let's put it in the human context and see if the argument holds up: Gender equality activists: "Why are you trying to convince people of the concept of equal rights between men and women? It's like a religion to you."LGBTQ activists: "Why are you trying to convince people of the concept of basic LGBTQ rights? It's like a religion to you."Abolitionists: "Why are you trying to convince people of the concept of not owning and exploiting other humans? It's like a religion to you."Suffice to say, the premise of this argument does not hold up and is made in an attempt to discredit the messenger, so you don't have to address the message. "Don't listen to them, they're just a bunch of zealots".
  6. Dave, this one's for you: Just read this: https://science.sciencemag.org/content/360/6392/987
  7. Even though there's a lot of discussion about health on this thread, veganism is not about health. I've said it before - you can be unhealthy if all you eat is Oreos and fries. The statistics also paint a different picture than what you're claiming. The majority of Western populations consume too much animal protein. 'Red meat' has seen a moderate decline in certain Western countries (global consumption still increasing), but then only to be replaced by chicken, fish and pork. So, where's the benefit? You see the irony in your first and last sentences?
  8. There are numerous lifelong vegans. There are also numerous populations of people that consumed a largely plant-based diet (i.e. >95% calories from whole plant sources). Do you have evidence that those groups were riddled with these conditions?
  9. So, you've no idea how they arrived at the conclusion, therefore you dismiss it out of hand?
  10. How do you think they arrived at that conclusion?
  11. I've no idea why you decided to bring a religious element into the discussion, but okay. I'm not quite sure how you've arrived at your last conclusion. I'd advise you to perhaps read this thread from the beginning. I've detailed how vegans are at a significantly lower risk for all of the top killers of humans (i.e. CVD, diabetes, obesity, types of cancer, etc.). Both epidemiology and mechanistic studies bear this out. The case you refer to was child neglect.
  12. Maybe nail your colours to the mast? Cryptic references to a deity doesn’t really move the discussion along. B12 is not made by animals. Made by bacteria. The reason why supplementation on a vegan diet is recommended is due to the fact that we wash our produce, thereby stripping the naturally occurring B12.
  13. You’ve honestly lost me on that second paragraph. Mind elaborating a bit? On the second point, have a read here: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/19562864/
  14. So... You slag off both the panel's credibility and knowledge of the topic and the center of their mandate on the basis of "dunno"?
  15. Wokenews? That site next to Breitbart, Infowars and Fox on your bookmarks tab?
  16. Ja, Dave. You armed with Google have got the IPCC pipped.
  17. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2019/aug/03/ipcc-land-use-food-production-key-to-climate-crisis-leaked-report?CMP=twt_gu&utm_medium=&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1564842653 Attempts to solve the climate crisis by cutting carbon emissions from only cars, factories and power plants are doomed to failure, scientists will warn this week. A leaked draft of a report on climate change and land use, which is now being debated in Geneva by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), states that it will be impossible to keep global temperatures at safe levels unless there is also a transformation in the way the world produces food and manages land. The new IPCC report emphasises that land will have to be managed more sustainably so that it releases much less carbon than at present. Peat lands will need to be restored by halting drainage schemes; meat consumption will have to be cut to reduce methane production; while food waste will have to be reduced. Among the measures put forward by the report is the proposal of a major shift towards vegetarian and vegan diets. “The consumption of healthy and sustainable diets, such as those based on coarse grains, pulses and vegetables, and nuts and seeds … presents major opportunities for reducing greenhouse gas emissions,” the report states.
  18. When basic principles of morality and logic trigger you, perhaps it’s time for a little introspection.
  19. Keep looking. Good sources other than Wikipedia too.
  20. Turn down the smugness and I’ll do the same.
  21. You showed her Big Daddy. Should’ve sommer sent Jr. with a copy of the latest Canadian Dietary Guidelines. Oh, wait!
  22. Your straw man is a little under stuffed ????. Try again.
  23. Boet, do you know who eats the majority of the world’s monocropped grains/legumes? Farmed animals! Do some reading on the subject.
