  1. Here is how it works. 1. Your employer buys it and is allowed the VAt decuction 17.5%vat 2. Your employer is allowed to deduct it from his bottom line 29% Co Tax 3. You Pay you boss back & Deduct it from you salary before tax 20% PAYE Depending on your tax bracket tos a total of 66.5% in tax break! no limit as to the bike you buy.
  2. It's a brilliant scheme. You can save 50% of the cost of a bike. My Daughter in london used it and she rides to work and back every day.
  3. It's a culture thing. Here motorists believe they have more right to the road than anyone else. Where I have been working in Suriname Pedestrians and cyclists have the most rights to the to road. What a pleasure to ride a bike in that culture.!
  4. The other side of the mountain will be sun even if it's overcast here.
  5. 1977 super Record. Still in use.
  6. i have been living these last 21 months In a small town in Suriname South America. The Roads are narrow, with little side walk space. Pedestrains have right of way at all times on the roads. Bicycles have right of way except over pedestrians What a please to use those roads, as pedestrian , cyclist or motorist. The roads are for all road users and the most vunerable need to have the most rights to use them
  7. BIG H there is growth, down from the heady days of 2004 when there was 1260 in the main event but up from the last two years. You see the flack Bonzai gives gives this guy? -unreal.
  8. Is this a MTB thing? In 40 years of road racing I have yet to have an unscheduled chain break. The guys at the water point would have to stand around a long time before someone requested a chain link fom them in a road race.
  9. Most of the sign posts will say Makhado, don't worry thats also us. Just that no-one can make up their minds as what the name is.
  10. Yep we have a mountain, but we cheat these days. We go over it once on Stage 1 and then around it at Vivo. The Original route crossed it twice, stage I and again on 2.
  11. Zoo Bring the factor 35 Sunblock. No matter what the weather on ths side of the mountain that side its going to Burn.
  12. [quote=Zoo Cookie so basically what your are saying..... i'm gonna die... with just a little relief in stage 2. Zoo, you are going to have a great time, I promise. It may be tough but when you finish, I gaurentee its gonna be one big smile.
  13. Cheetah, The first few Races did not have medals but badges. Here is the second year.
  14. With most subjects there is no problem here. If you say you are making a new bike with a 300mm crank a 1000 hubbers will tell you you are crazy. Mention that you worship the Toad in your swimming pool, and its a special case, no-one is allowed to snigger, let alone say you are crazy.
  15. No, The Peoples Front of Judea
  16. Details of the UK ride to work scheme can be found here. http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Information.aspx?TranslationLargeID=34
  17. Broker, Another thing to consider if you buy and she is working in London is a goverment scheme which will see her saving 50% of the cost of the bike. The scheme is to encourage Bike commuters. The scheme works something like this. Her company buys the bike and is allowed to claim the vat and the cost comes off the companies bottom line. This works out at 17% vat pluss 29% company tax. The company passes this on to her. She is also allowed to deduct the cost of the bike from her salary, as she pays it off over several months so she will pay less tax . Another 20% -30%
  18. Rather than send the bike, it may be cost effective to buy a new one. Last week I bought my London based daughter new bike as hers was nicked. I bought from www.Chainreactioncycles.com and she had it in 3 days with no delivery charges. The Guy in Pink2008-05-07 17:51:54
