  1. I used the Zound Air Horn from CRC in Traffic for two years, (mainly early morning) Brilliant. We now have them on all our Mountain bikes as they are great fun as well.
  2. Fakes, If your position is right there should be absolutely no need to worry about the knees and joints. I've been riding around 10 000 km a year for over 4 decades without any knee or joint problems. Maybe I will have to look at starting taking something for them in another decade or so.
  3. Nobody has because it not illegal to ride a bike on a "Highway" although is is illegal on a "Freeway"
  4. I also motor pace at every oppurtunity, as I recon that better training you cannot get. When I started riding trucks were not as powerful as to-day so the a chance came with almost every ride. These days trucks are too fast and I am too slow ...
  5. Tarboy, you are a plagiarist when you copy the work of others See http://www.shinnysideup.com/msf/WaveII.htm ) you should acknowledge that it is the work of someone else. Changing a detail like from motorbikes to bicycles does not cut it, it is still someone elses work.
  6. Wheelie, You are still short of the 2004 figures that was 175km 1250 76km (from Vivo Back) 534 22km 98
  7. Be careful at Matoks, +-50km from Louis Trichardt. There is a 5km 60km/hr zone. The trap in both directions on Friday PM's using two traps.
  8. My Bad, it was the year before that the generator failed plunging the tunnels into darkness. I then decided that to rely on one power source was a bad thing so I bought 200 tourches and had them taped to the guardrail. ... it is not possible to provide enough power and lights to properly illuminate 950metre of tunnel .... especially as the human eye is slow to adapt from the bright morning light outside......all that can be done is to light up the sides to define limits of the roadway..... a lamp on the bike works wonders though.
  9. Het julle al ligte in die tonnels? Dit word elke jaar spesiaal vir julle opgesit. Cheeta, A knowledge of history needed here. The last time Big H rode the Kremetart another Big Hendrik (who you know) was in charge of the lighting in the tunnels. Big Hendrik started the generator at about 5am and by the time Big H got there he had run the thing dry, without any back up fuel on hand. Big H needed a white stick to feel his way through the tunnels.
  10. And what seas do you cross to get to Angola? .
  11. Cops! Utter Useless! I was driving on the N1 in the dark at 5am this morning, and almost rear-ended a 36 wheeler without one light showing to the back. 2km later I went through the Capricorn toll and a police van was parked so I stoped and told the cop that the truck would be here in a few minutes and it needs to be parked until sunrise. As soon as I pulled away the cop also pulled away , and traveled in the same direction as me, away from the truck without lights!
  12. The rule is to prevent this:
  13. Those pictures look nice and sunny, I Just got from riding the Slaaihoek pass from The Nkomati mine to Boven 'Boven and back to Nkomati. I froze, I was wet and cold, frozen thru. The plan was to get to the Badplaas/ Machado dorp Road but I chickened out when I crested the pass in thick mist. It gave me a cold 50km though.
  14. As a rule of thumb, first look at the sellers profile, if he has his full name shown and has been around the hub for a few years, you can probably pay him and wait for the goods to be posted. If however he joined the hub yesterday and gives no personal details on his profile, pay him with your left hand whilst your right hand has a firm grip on the goods.
  15. PM me a postal addy and I will shunt one down when I get back home in two weeks, in return for a donation to the louis Trichardt SPCA (Donations can be paid directly into the SPCA?s bank account : ABSA 632005 account No 4049 349 429)
  16. That machine is not complete without a I have loads of fun with mine on the MTB.
  17. I've been meaning to ask you Holy, did you ever try decending Sylvia's Pass on it without using da brake?
  18. In a court of law an artifact is used to ensure a fair trial - the accused is presumed innocent. In real life however we all use our judgement on what we see and form opinions. So when we see a guy at a traffic light which a sign which says " No Job 6 kids to feed - God Bless" tend we keep our wallet and cellphone out of sight and the door locked - We do not assume his sign is a true statement of his suitation and faith or that he is a person to be trusted. The Hub is part of real life so some of us have seen what has been said, and formed our opinions on this topic. Veteraan , this is your second post on the Hub, why not introduce yourself so that your friends here can welcome you properly?
  19. I'm not surprised your bike took off. Bikes are supposed to live IN the house, not left locked up in an open carport like an unloved dog.
  20. There is an accommodation list on www.kremetartcycling.co.za For a team look at the Schoemansdal Veld School, which is the stage 3 finish/ stage 4 start. or the high school hostel.
  21. Cheetah, Gert Rode in 2004 (5hr 14) and last year 2008 he was on a Tandem, that makes at least 15. You will have him on your Data Base from last year.
  22. It will be Gert, he has Thirteen I am sure of, but it must be more. No one else will come close. This was his 2003 Result 114 377 Gert De Jager M 38 Waterberg Cycling Club 4:59:33 As he was a line entry that year (and most others) I do not have contact details with me here.In 2003 he had only missed one due to ill health. I suspect that he has ridden a few more since I as I have seen him at most races in Polokwane.
  23. Gert de Jager from Potties did 13 Kremetarts
