  1. Yep we have a mountain, but we cheat these days. We go over it once on Stage 1 and then around it at Vivo. The Original route crossed it twice, stage I and again on 2.
  2. Zoo Bring the factor 35 Sunblock. No matter what the weather on ths side of the mountain that side its going to Burn.
  3. [quote=Zoo Cookie so basically what your are saying..... i'm gonna die... with just a little relief in stage 2. Zoo, you are going to have a great time, I promise. It may be tough but when you finish, I gaurentee its gonna be one big smile.
  4. Cheetah, The first few Races did not have medals but badges. Here is the second year.
  5. With most subjects there is no problem here. If you say you are making a new bike with a 300mm crank a 1000 hubbers will tell you you are crazy. Mention that you worship the Toad in your swimming pool, and its a special case, no-one is allowed to snigger, let alone say you are crazy.
  6. No, The Peoples Front of Judea
  7. Details of the UK ride to work scheme can be found here. http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Information.aspx?TranslationLargeID=34
  8. Broker, Another thing to consider if you buy and she is working in London is a goverment scheme which will see her saving 50% of the cost of the bike. The scheme is to encourage Bike commuters. The scheme works something like this. Her company buys the bike and is allowed to claim the vat and the cost comes off the companies bottom line. This works out at 17% vat pluss 29% company tax. The company passes this on to her. She is also allowed to deduct the cost of the bike from her salary, as she pays it off over several months so she will pay less tax . Another 20% -30%
  9. Rather than send the bike, it may be cost effective to buy a new one. Last week I bought my London based daughter new bike as hers was nicked. I bought from www.Chainreactioncycles.com and she had it in 3 days with no delivery charges. The Guy in Pink2008-05-07 17:51:54

  15. A good start, now lets not only have a never-ending list but pick out a few of those items and tell the people about it. Wet their appetites. Show them the <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
  16. Come now Wheelie, don?t be a forever. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Be a bit creative and tell the peoples out there WHY it will be once again a "must do" race, and what they will be missing out on. You could start by telling the guys and girls that this event is really a veterans race, with the average age of guys who ride it about 42 and that there will be as many participants over 40 years of age as there are below. You could also remind the Girls that this event has always discriminated against the Guys, because although the girls only make up about 20% of the participants they take home 50% of the prizes. You could also talk about the famous bushveld "Potjie", and how the comradery builds slowly at every stop to become an emotional high after the finish. OK wheelie, your turn, talk to the peoples??.
  17. I saw lots of guys (and girls) out and about on Wednesday afternoon on their bikes, dodging month end traffic , and really moving thru it. I would say the mounted force must be 20+
  18. This was on all our traffic lights, and this outside our down town police stations. and our cops equiped like this. The bikes have Nexus 7 speed groupsets well suited to city streets. Photos taken Thursday in Paramaribo. The Guy in Pink2008-05-02 05:38:25
  19. That gives you a 84.375 inch gear and the max must be 82.8. But it is the roll-in distance of 6.626m that is important.<?: PREFIX = O /> From The chart above the 41x 13 is a 85.153 inch Using a 2.076m circumfence 6.626m rollout = 86.176 inch.
  20. With a 50 front ring the smallest is a 16 rear.
  21. Back to the subject. Following the success of last year?s kiddie?s race, Mike?s Kitchen and Bonaqua Kiddies Water have come on board to sponsor this year?s Kremetart Kiddies Race, organized by Archers Paints, on June 6 from 14:00 at Makhado Crossing. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> This promises to be an exciting event with loads of fantastic prizes to be won. All participants will receive a goody bag containing a Mike?s Kitchen lucky packet, Bonaqua Kiddies Water, Jo Jo Cooldrink, a pencil case, Cadbury sweets, Simba chips, sports bottles, etc. All finishers will receive a special finisher?s medal and stand a chance of winning spot prizes donated by <?: prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /> Milky Lane and Snack Box Fourteen bikes have been sponsored by Mike?s Kitchen and Archers Paints to be won by 14 participating schools and scooters will be made available by Mike?s Kitchen for a special "scooter race". A super race track will be built specially at Makhado Crossing for this event and entertainment will be provided by characters such as Paddle Pop Lion, Miki and Sporty, as well as a jumping castle, face painting and the like. There are lots of prizes to be won, including play stations, paint kits, play ball rugby balls and much more. Registration papers are available at the 14 participating schools or from Mike?s Kitchen at Makhado Crossing. Late registration will take place from 14:00 the day of the race at Mikes?s Kitchen. Age Groups include 2 to 3, 4 to 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 years. All children are welcome and the entry fee is R20 per bike. All of the money collected will be donated to charity. Participants should note that helmets must be worn. For more information, contact Alex at tel. 015 516 2606.
