I have a serious question for the locals- just how bad is the water situation? Usually we came down and stay for the week after the CTCT and make a little holiday of it, but thought we would just come down for the weekend due to the water situation. You won't enjoy a holiday if you can't flush the toilet after every use or aren't allowed to shower or bath properly. I've also heard that they introduced "load shedding" with the water, is this true? I did some calculations and even to come down only for the weekend, will cost me just shy of R 10 k. I can't justify this expense for a race, hence the little holiday. I understand the situation and am willing to make some sacrifices like shower in 2 - 3 minutes with a bucket in the shower to catch the water to use in the garden or somewhere else. But wash in a basin or not being allowed to flush the toilet or "beurt water" is not going to work for me. Then I'll rather stay home and see you guys in 2019. All being said, I really empathise with you guys down there and hope the situation can be sorted quickly.

I actually like the sports days, but I feel you on those concerts. Thankfully my kids are past that now. I still have quite a number of years (hopefully) to work on excuses to miss these as a grand parent.

So you swing both ways then? I'm currently with DH/ Vitality and use it to its full. I also have certain products with Momentum but always thought it would be a waste having both Vitality and Multiply. I had a meeting with my advisor and she also has both (Diamond and Private club) and she also recommend us to take Multiply. To get to private club won't be an issue and the savings we will get and other benefits are much more than the monthly contributions. She send me a shitload of brochures and stuff that I will read through over the weekend, but yeah, I'm looking forward at getting the best of both worlds.

Exactly what I've said in a earlier post. The fact that 2 CTCT's were affected by first the fire (2015) and then the riots/ wind this year, just made a lot of riders realise that there is a real risk it might happen again to any event. With the economy getting a bit tougher, people might get very picky about what races they want to do, especially races where you have to add travel and accommodation.

Also in AL- yes, it will be fun till hekpoort. If I can finish under 3H with the longer distance this year, I'll be more than happy.

Right between AL en CL B is for B batch and L is for long distance. B batch is basically the second best batch of the open seeded groups and start after the elites and racing vets. not sure if this is what you wanted to know.

is it ethical to ask here what is the cost of a respray? Does Bogus One do the design as well or does he work from once own ideas? I'm seriously thinking about sending my bike there in the off season.

I agree with you. You will get those climbs in the beginning of the race when the legs are still fresh, but they are to short and not steep enough to give a break away any real change to succeed. After that the road is fairly flat until Hekpoort which will give the main peleton enough time to catch up. I predict that the main bunch will stay together until hekpoort and then all hell wil break loose. The nice thing now is that you can really spend yourself on Hekpoort, becase after that you can literally free to the end.

Just the other day I listened to a child psychologist on the radio talking about the importance of physical playing and activities in a child's development phase vs tv and computer games. If it's rainy or cold outside then play inside, but just play. since I was about to meet with a client I unfortunately couldn't listen to the whole talk, but from the little I've heard, you are doing it right.

I'm not at all surprised by this. We all sort of always knew that there is a risk that a race might get cancelled for some unforeseen reason, but we all just never think it would actually happen since it never happened. The fact that 2 out of the last 3 races were cancelled just made us realised that this is a more definite reality than we thought and because of this all cyclists traveling to CT will think twice about risking there money. I did enter and I'm pretty confident that the organisers and City Counsel have plans in place to prevent what happened in 2017, but the possibility of 2017 repeating itself is very real.

Is the general entry on a ballot system again? From the mail I received I concluded that it's a "first come, first serve" basis.

+1, if this race is cancelled again due to any reason, it will be my last attempt. I know that any race anywhere can get cancelled for any reason, but coming from Gauteng the risk is not worth the cost. there is enough races in Gauteng from now till April. None of them gets anywhere close to the CTCT, but I won't loose 15k if it gets cancelled.

You will enjoy it. worth every cent (if it's not cancelled) After 2015 burnt out, 2016 was absolutely awesome. So since 2017 was totally cancelled I predict 2018 will be the best race since inception. It's a pattern.
