  1. Well, he had me checking the dates on Carnival's website. hehe
  2. I absolutely have no Idea, but lesson learned.
  3. started in AL and hang on for dear life to the front bunch until about 65 km when I realised that my front wheel was loose. I literally stopped for about 5 sec to tighten it and was about 50m beyond the bunch. I tried for about 2 km to catch them and burnt all matches in the process. Ride until hekpoort on my own before the front of BL caught up with me. My legs was shot and I couldn't stick with them. Ended eventually in 3h05 which was a bit disappointing. otherwise an awesome race.
  4. yip, weather is looking good across the board. Looking forward to the race
  5. also at 6h35, I assume it's AL.
  6. I did the 80km route on Saturday just to refresh the memory. That little hill at the satellite station should not be under estimated. Then that drag at the very end- it's longer than what it looks. And don't forget the headwind when you turn left after Hekpoort- I haven't rode this route without a decent headwind on the way back.
  7. I'm not to concerned about this. What keeps me awake at night is that turn into kyalami. we will be coming down that hill with speeds at about 70km plus.
  8. Will do a practice run this weekend just to familiarise myself with Hekpoort. Will only do the 80km route this weekend. Then an awesome breakfast at that restaurant at the Peacanwoord Centre. Anybody else going out there this weekend?
  9. Thank goodness you're ok. Can you please give some detail on what their MO is. We go past that spot every 3 week on our way to Klapperkop. This is at the end of our ride which usually is about 9h30 when traffic has picked up a bit as well.
  10. My wife will like the popcorn. I will like the Mug & Bean coffee. At least now I will be able to use my rewards. Can't stand that **** they sell at Kauai and no Vida café near me.
  11. So I see that next year you can get tekkies at Sportsman Warehouse on a similar scam that you could get the I watch this year. Wouldn't it be awesome if you can buy a new bike on a similar deal? I have my eye on that beautiful Bianchi in the classifieds. Come on Myles, can't you talk to someone
  12. I would think that if you do a sub 3 Satellite Classic, that you would stand a good chance of doing a sub 3 HOURS 94.7
  13. Thanks Gerald, I've just tried to enter anyway, but experience issues with payment- I didn't received my OTP number. Had the same problem just now with Satellite Classic as well, so I assume it's a bank thing. Will try again later.
  14. Hi Gerald, when is registration closing? I've tried to look on the webpage, but can't find it.
  15. The secret is to pack the right padkos, then you can ride faster and pack less padkos, hehe
  16. Apparently not. For some reason I struggle to pay with my card and phoned them to ask for EFT. The only way to pay is via card.
  17. Good. No one will dare smoking near the mountain when Die Muishond is around. Let Die Muishond patrol the mountain. I hope Die Muishond also rides the CTCT--- the wind won't dare blowing at all. The cape doctor is afraid that Die Muishond will blow back.
  18. You guys in Cape Town better start patrolling the mountain to make sure them smokers don't burn it down again.
  19. What!! there's going to be wind??!! How strong and from which direction?? Is your source reliable??
  20. I will be very pissed if this happens. I already made my booking. I delayed my booking for this years CTCT because I was waiting for the launch which was supposed to be in Jan, then April, then June. So lets see if it will realise in Sept
  21. I usually book in January.
  22. Saturday I rode 105 km on an empty stomach with no energy drink or gels or bars. One bottle with a Zero tablet and half a bottle with water. Only took 2 date balls (homemade), first one I ate at about 90mins and the other at about 2h15. At 2h50 I had half a banana and the other half at about 3h20. It was the first time that I rode this long on an empty stomach and without energy drinks. Although it wasn't near race pace (I ave 27.6 km/h) I was surprised how good I felt considering the lack of training so far and the fact that I only had very little carbs. I don't know how much carbs are in the date balls, but it can't be as much as suggested in the article. This weekend I will ride 112 km and see if I can push a bit harder. The aim is to train low carb and race high carb for fat loss purposes. What I've heard is that by doing this your body can absorb calories more quickly and therefor deliver it to the muscles more quickly. After reading this article it sounds like bullocks or is there perhaps some truth in this?
  23. I use Cycle House in Pta North to transport my bike. Get my bike at the expo and drop it at the finish line. No problems and they take good care of the bike.
