that area is pretty dangerous...there is even a sign at the entrance on Blackhill with a warning...best avoided unfortunately even though it is a very pretty ride but very sandy in summer

Edge 830 has a touchscreen, 3x the battery life of the Wahoo, huge choice of widgets, apps and screens to install. Wahoo has a more legible screen if your eyesight is poor but works with buttons, mediocre battery life, perhaps a little more intuitive to use. Both excellent choices

I would not give him more than 4K for it...

the most important thing is the shoe and how it interacts with the pedal platform when clipped in...if it even touches at all...

the platform on those XT pedals will give you no extra contact or stability on your shoe when clipped in but it will allow you to ride unclipped on steep technical climbs or descents if you have the right shoe without a slippery carbon sole...it is how I have been riding for years..
