  1. Giant and Trek have very different sizing...so he really does need to try it for fit..
  2. Will a Shimano GRX800 wide derailleur work with an 11 speed 11-51 cassette? My friend currently has an 11-42 cassette on his Cannondale Topstone with a 40T but he needs easier gearing...so can I fit a larger cassette using his existing derailleur? Obviously the chain will be too short. Any advice on which 11 speed cassette? Thanks in advance!
  3. it really is impossible and pointless recommending a saddle...you really need to try a saddle on a long ride and over a period of a few weeks to know if it works...luckily there is a nice classified section to sell lightly used saddles:) having said that and if you do not want to spend too much get the super cheap Ryder saddle which is a clone of the Specialized Power...it is a good starting point
  4. Well its pretty much all carbohydrates since it contains no fats or protein so 27grams of mix will be 25grams of carbs...the rest being minerals

  8. I would definitely consider a set of 650b wheels and then you can use wider tires...it will make an amazing difference to your ride on gravel using 45mm tires
  9. Bontrager Flare RT rear and Bontrager Ion in front, fantastic combo...have been using them for years and they integrate with Garmin and other GPS units... Front lights are WAY more important than rear lights in daytime riding...read the studies....

  14. Hi Andrew [am assuming that is your name from your URL link] I understand that Greyton does not have very technical singletrack , but at least you get to ride directly from home and there is always something to ride, be it singletrack or forest, in relative safety without the worry of being mugged and without the worries of traffic getting home afterwards... I lived in Muizenberg 2 years ago...where exactly are the singletracks around Boyes Dr???
  15. there is a beautiful gravel route from Swellendam to Riviersonderend https://www.strava.com/activities/7511108841

  19. I have an E-Thirteen 9-46 12 speed cassette with a 34T in the front and I can do pretty much anything, from the steepest climbs even on singletrack to riding on the tar at 45km\hr. Tires are the Pirelli Cinturato Gravel M in 45s...awesome!
