  1. "30 riders out of a field of 165 crossed the finish line" Rwanda's hills, humidity etc took their toll.
  2. Both great bikes. See which one 'talks' to you. Lefty servicing is a schlepp.
  3. Thanks.
  4. Brilliant. Did you carry a tent/bivy? What cooking system?
  5. Sad. Not the sort of social media coverage most sponsors want to associate themselves with..
  6. If you fly Rwandair, your bike counts as one of your 23kg luggages allowed, therefore no extra cost.
  7. Just when I thought the area had been cleaned up 🫣
  8. I've done 3 Race around Rwanda bikepacking races. Truly an amazing place to visit. Stunning country, safe, and a marvellous place to ride a bike. As @NC_lurker says, there is a wee bit of climbing😉. The cycling culture in Rwanda has to be experienced. If I had leave I would be jumping at this. Grab this opportunity if you can. PS you must take a bike with you. The riding (road, gravel and mtb) is amazing.
  9. My Garmin go-to shop.
  10. He could have put 'firewood' in the package........
  11. Momentum Health have similar cover.
  12. We rented a bike from Bike Market in Jhb when my mother in law came out from Australia. Not the cheapest, but a pain free undertaking.
  13. I am about 10k km into a Temu carbon bar on my mtb. So far so good.
  14. In my experience, if you are used to riding shimano spds, you will find that eggbeaters do have more 'float' in them. Is that perhaps what you are interpreting as rocking? Those contact sleeves look as though they are something that could be 3D printed.
  15. The Freedom Challenge Race Across South Africa started yesterday. The riders are already into hectic weather. Rain, snow and wind. https://freedomchallenge2025.maprogress.com/
  16. I have not flown Turkish, but all of the other airlines that I have flown, have allowed one of those 23kg items to be the bike. Worth giving the airline a call. If they agree, get it in writing
  17. On a district road outside Pearston.
  18. One of our cycling group had one on the weekend. Looks very smart. Not sure about warmth. Looks to be the same thickness as the short sleeved versions.
  19. Including the cracked frame?
  20. One thing I have learnt over the years is that when putting in an insurance claim for a bicycle, it is worth giving the bike a thorough cleaning and some spit and polish before making the claim. My experience is that some assessors don't know bikes, and equate dirt to wear and tear.
  21. You now have a fight on your hands.
  22. A good car upholsterer will be able to do this for you. If your timing is right they may have offcuts to use. I have used a backyard guy with a good reputation, on other saddles (not power saddle) and been very happy. There is no reason why they can't do it for your saddle.
  23. Decathalon worth a browse too. Their helmets have great light fittings.
  24. A trip along the Freedom Trail in the little Karoo section last week. Blessed with amazing weather.
