  1. so somewhere in tygerberg it is then. prolly hoogies. moved on account of cape epic in the area for sure. Maybe have it over 2 days because half the field cant do 5 stages on one day🤣. 2 stages on one day, 3 on the final day. Could be a fun experiment. Ps: 5 stages will be a nice warmup for the funride world champs the next weekend.
  2. to be honest. I don't really think anybody cares where they are (except @Robbie Stewart haha), least not me, I'll do my best to still do them all anyway. I enjoy the format. And the logistics of organising an event is not lost on me. I just want to know which ones when. So decide already! You have to know which one goes first and second by now? at least? Commit damnit! šŸ˜„
  3. YES please. cant be more entry level than me though...although I have progressed a small amount. (i can atleast now fall in style, or get clipped in on time haha) we can at least hang on the way up
  4. wow thanks....nice to know you feel alone even if we are there😁 I'm also one of the only ones there that'll marvel at your roadie exploits instead of ridiculing you for them!
  5. Ill vote for this right here😁
  6. I know it will be those 3 - AT LEAST. That’s pretty obvious. There is (at this stage) nothing else around here in CT able to string together 5 stages worth riding on 1 day…imo (Except paarl I guess ) yes Tokai…but again, speculation. I still want to know when/what happens though. I have a crazy mar-april and again jun-jul. September is fine…and my gut tells me that will most likely be Jonkers. But going by just the yearly Durbie Dash shenanigans here in cult valley, when the epic is in town you’ll not be allowed anywhere near those trails that week…which kind of throws the proverbial spanner in the works planning wise for them imo. anywayšŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø
  7. So with the niceties out of the way…here comes what I actually came here to say… buckle up!! šŸ˜… How can it be so difficult to confirm WHERE these events will be taking place? This is not how you plan events imo. Are you guys deliberately keeping it quiet? Or dont YOU know yet? Seems like it? did someone for instance not realise the Epic is happening in and around #1? Which basically/probably means everything around tygerberg is out…purely from a logostics point of view. You need to hype these things up from longer than 1 month ish to go i think. Thats part of the problem. What is it with this format and the people inheriting it all the time….The numbers are good. People pay. Why compromise that?? Anyway… How is one supposed to plan your year without event info. In my case, i have a few things id like to do this year…which means I have to prioritise them. Not everyone taking part is a teenager without priorities that matter. Adults need to adult. Unfortunately. That means planning ahead for most of us. - so we can support you! Certain events will take preference over others for us ā€˜matured’ folks For instance, jonkers will take preference over another( for most of us) if you have to choose. Thats a reality even though I hope to do all of them. Anyway, get the info out please. There cant be any real reason why not at this stage. If you havent decided which rounds go when….you already have a problem imo. anyway, still looking forward. Please come to the party.
  8. So confirmed via Enduro Western Cape’s insta account last year (HEY Not everybody uses that platform btw! For those who don't waste away on the socials….WC enduro also seem to have a website now: https://wcenduro.co.za/#enduroevents Here are the dates for 2023: * UPDATE Round 1: 4 March 2023 - paarl bike fest Round 2: 28 May 2023 - Jonkershoek Round 3: 6 August 2023 - Witfontein, George Round 4: 10 September 2023 - Jonkershoek ( SA nationals weekend) Nice. Gonna be fun.
  9. Wrong. Get a road bike, a gravelbike AND a mountain bikešŸ˜…. And even then you’ll want more kinds of bikes haha. this is me. And to be honest, every time i feel sorry for the road bike and think about giving it some time out of the garage off the rollers in the sun….I get on my gravel bike and realise that THIS is where id rather sit for 4h rides. It is just so much more comfortable. And they aren't slow unless you are racing in the elite groups imo. Dont listen to weekend warriors racing for table scraps. You can hurt some egos on a gravel bike for sure. Mtb should be like having a dirt bike…just a stupid toy for having fun on, jumping badly, falling awkwardly and generally doing dumb things on…so dont get an xc bike, get something silly instead.
  10. if only...I was on my 50c gravel/monstercross bike, but same difference when chasing down racing snakes I guess haha. I had a good ride too. My fastest 100km to date for sure. Watch said 3:35 (starting from J) but i'll wait and see what the actual timing says. Hauling a 16kg enduro bike up and down mountains obviously counts towards fitness too. Miffed though. I lost a bottle (my only one left filled with water) at around 75km....basically a km or so after the water station....so had to firstly take it slower while pulling AMPs....and then actually had to stop at the next water station to fill up. So defo lost some time on that. Anyway, still happy.
  11. Sorry, TLDR… I clicked because i have formula’s…but see some of you are breaking your Beetle gearboxes by using bicycle brake fluid in them? Did I get the gist? 🤣
  12. there were plenty of people at cwc buying their first racetec chips today and asking how to mount them…. Assuming they wont all be doing the short one, it should be well stocked with punters. This and 99’er early Feb is usually prop vol people getting their one and only 100km seeding ride in for the CTCT. Its my first one for the year too…so Ill be plonking along as well. Been enjoying the ā€œfalling down mountains on a mtb ā€thing too much lately to put in the work on this side of cycling. But it’s time to remind my legs and butt what 100kms in the saddle feels like againšŸ˜… Ps: hoe laat begin jy? Ps2: Toemar, sien nou jy weet nog nie.
  13. Last time I did this was that swimming gala one. Weather is looking good for sunday. Nice and warm, almost no wind in the morning.
  14. Every, and I mean EVERY online bike retailer has their own way you need to deal with them. There is a person behind every one of them. This is not takelot. Ive bought from most of the known online bike ones in SA…all the way from GP, MP, to NW to KZN to WC. Some proper obscure ones you probably don't even know about even. I consider myself familiar with most of their…quirks. I have used bike addict on a few occasions before. Mainly because when building a bike I always scope out all the shops on my list for prices. Their margins differ greatly. Some give you discount if you EFT too. In bikeaddict’s case they had certain higher value items at prices way cheaper than what even the distributors sell them for themselves on their retail section. In anycase, I hate dealing with this specific place in jhb so I always order their stuff through a middleman. By mistake or not… BA still honoured their website pricing. Which i appreciate. It was literally thousands cheaper… My MO with BA is: decide what you want…send an online enquiry though the website about the item, then an hour or so later….phone WAYNE, no one else. Phone. These are ā€˜Swartlanders’. People in smaller towns around CT appreciate a phone call imo. They are peoples persons. He’s head of online retail…and he’s Afrikaans. Use it, dont use it… Then tell him you want an invoice so you can pay via eft, send pop and bobs your uncle. Their delivery schedules are a bit wack too but its a small price to pay if you come across a super duper deal on their site.
  15. For these generic ones I prefer Adguard or even Ghostery sometimes. On an IOS device, Blockbear can almost be annoyingly efficient…even blocking google ad search results lol. When going all out you need to get creative
  16. Rookie😊
  17. Whatsapp me and ill share how to put a condom in your browseršŸ˜… your browser is like your credit card, and also man parts….ā€moenie jou ding in snaakse plekke druk nieā€šŸ‘€
  18. So technically riding a fixie is then easier than SS? Since it has an extra gear… - reverse šŸ˜…
  19. So thought ill come ā€˜drop’ (punny right?) my experience with this lever since ive had most of the ones mentioned here so far. I have a Lyne dropper, a Bikeyoke Revive 160mm one and more recently…a OneUp 210mm one because i want to need more drop. I have the Lyne v2 lever. It works fine for what it costs. No complaints. I have the Bikeyoke Triggy too. Also a super nice lever with plenty of adjustment, the Bikeyoke dropper is the smoothest thing out there imo and the lever compliments that. it is also stupid expensive so you would hope it was. I got one of these CSIXX ones for the OneUp after reading the droppers are notoriously stiff and notchy compared to something premium like a Revive. A lot of people apparently pair it with the light action Wolftooth lever which just has a longer lever arm vs the normal one. My TriggyX has an adustable lever arm. You can make it 6mm longer or shorter to achieve the easy action wolftooth sells at a premium. Well while I was waiting for CSIXX to wake from their holiday slumber…I used the triggy on the Oneup 210mm in the interim and I immediately felt how much stiffer it felt vs the Revive…It works, but again…once you’ve felt a Revive, few things will compare. So a bit of buyers remorse settled in, but I cant gooi R10k on a 213mm Revive for an extra ~60mm drop…and it wont fit in my frame due to droplink position on the seat tube. Also why I had to settle for the 210mm even though I could use the 240mm OneUp if it fit. My legs go to the moon see. anyway, back to the CSIXX lever. they obviously arent lying about testing almost all of them on the market because it is one of the nicest feeling actions of the all the ones i’ve felt.Super smooth and light action. It makes the OneUp dropper actuate and feel so much smoother that it probably actually is. I havent tried it on my Revive obviously but can imagine that combo will be like trying to hold onto a wet Carp with your bare hands after dipping them in oil…slippery AF. And obviously it looks and feels super premium. Awesome product! 100% recommended.
  20. Please get the details of the known buyer in salt river? I know the community watch people there and most of the residents in that area are VERY unfriendly towards crap like this. They’ll sort them out….
  21. I always knew the people seeded in those groups at roadie events were numpties😁
  22. …on route to go slay some Rhinos
  23. Like how you cant even have the Pantone color books in Adobe suites without subs anymore 🤣 they deserve all the piracy they get
  24. Since I see you got the zitto one in your pic….here you gošŸ˜…: local and in stock https://www.summitbikes.co.za/index.php?id_product=1382&controller=product Then, more expensive but here are the cane creek ones, i prefer them for serviceability. in stock if you buy bottom and top separately: https://isikosports.co.za/Cane-Creek-40-Series-Bottom-Assembly-Headsets-p91158449 im not being a smartass, just giving you more places to look next time😊
  25. My head says it’s probably a bearing, but you can also try a new ā€˜belt’/oring. My belt starts getting all wobbly at certain RPM’s and as soon as I go faster it stops. So maybe. Ive noticed over the years you need to put the belt on your non forward foot position because when you (have to?)unclip you have a tendency to step on the belt and that cuts it. Bearings…Take it out the roller and go to a bearing place and ask for a replacement. Will cost you less than a few Randelas. Terrible vid but is shows the gist of it.
