  1. That presupposes that he does work at the coffee shops, as opposed to chatting and drinking coffee. Is there actually a job where one gets paid for chatting and drinking coffee? Where can I apply?
  2. I have a question. Wasn't Carinus appointed because of his IT skills to get the licencing sorted out? Assuming I've heard right, where does Myrace fit in and why can I spot Carinus in a coffee shop whenever I walk around Stellenbosch and when there are such problems with licences? Let the flaming begin...
  3. Let us know when you start working on them so that we can help.
  4. OMG. How selfish can one be? The same could be said of those wanting the trails to be dumbed down. Really now....how much effort is it to climb off your bike and walk 3m 'over' and obstacle? My question is....is the effort saved from the lazy' date=' funriders worth the cost of the enjoyment the skilled riders have lost? Is it fair to take enjoyment from those riders who in all likelyhood visit the trails more often and ride for longer in order to make a trail rideable to a select few weekend warriors? [/quote'] I take offence at the insinuation that funriders are lazy! There is a bigger picture here, its not about dumbing down trails for funriders. See Obieone's post again. How about you guys get in touch with Amarider (Minty I think you already know Meurant) and discuss it with them? How about climbing off your bikes and building some ecologically friendly alternatives for you guys and some chicken runs for the dumb lazy funriders?
  5. I don't buy this one. If I can ride up the loooooooong jeep track to get to level 2 on my Unicycle' date=' then surely some nubie on 2 wheels can do it. I've been riding up to at least level 2 (Vasbyt), and nowadays to at least level 4 (Mamba), since my first ride in Tokai. I'm close to 40, and quite overweight and I still make the effort to ride up the steep jeep track.... on 1 wheel nogal !!! If you're to lazy to ride up the hill then stay out of the forest..... and similarly if you don't feel like putting in some effort to increase your skills, then go and ride a stationary bike in the Gym. It's great that there is a "greater plan", which in my opinion is needed and also needs to be constantly reviewed. Do you have details of the "greater plan" ? It would be nice to see what else is envisioned. At the moment I am disappointed that a number of changes have been made to make the trails easier to ride, and if the plan only includes this then I would be so upset. I pay just like any nubie does and would also like to have my skills tested. Are there plans to make more technical sections ? That I don't have to ride to the Mast to get to... seeing as how the nubies need to ride some of the lower trails ? As for getting involved in the trail building I would definitely like to help and get involved. My involvement would be to make technical trails for MUni as that is what my passion is, and if AMARider and Muerant would like to cater for MUni ... then I'm there. OMG. How selfish can one be?
  6. So have you spoken to Meurant about it? I really can't believe that Amarider (who, as far as I know, are responsible for the trail maintenance) have any intention to dumb down the trails as opposed to maintaining them and preventing erosion. Erosion, by the way, by its very nature is problematic whereever it occurs. Haven't been to Tokai in years though, so can't comment on what would constitute necessary maintenance for this section.
  7. I would have been keen but all this talk of steep climbs is scaring me off. If I came along and couldn't keep up, is it easy enough to find my way back to Waterstone myself?
  8. Beautiful frame! Surely, given South Africa's status as a third world country, they could make an exception and put the frames to good use rather than destroying them?
  9. Hey! What about me? This was my thread after all! I'll have to nominate you all for hi-jackers of the year!
  10. Thanks Napalm. I haven't had good experiences with them, though. Any others?
  11. Anyone know of training groups to join for weekend rides (road or mountainbike) in Stellenbosch or vicinity?

  13. Is it safe to ride alone in Jonkershoek?
  14. Sorry to burst your bubble, guys, but I think most of them were just there to see Matt Damon!
  15. Where in the Cedarberg did you ride? I haven't ridden there yet but would love to some day.
  16. Your deed of sale should stipulate how much is paid to the agent, including/excluding commission. The conveyancers attending to the transfer will then pay over the commission to the agent from the purchase price in terms of the deed of sale. The deeds of sale that estate agents use usually have very comprehensive clauses to protect them and authorising the conveyancers to pay the commission to them directly (even if the sale falls through).
  17. got to be one of the best looking bikes there That must be the infamous LolliB! How did she do?
  18. Wouldn't a book be cheaper and easier than all of that?
  19. There is a group that rides from Stellenbosch every weekday morning from six o'clock but only do about an hour so that everyone can be at work by eight.
  20. 3 2 road 1 MTB
  21. HAHAHA!!!! THIS makes ME laugh! I suppose everyone has had their own experiences. Any way, good luck to the new shop.
  22. And the rest of the country won't survive without moaning about those lucky enough to live in the Cape. Jealousy makes you nasty.
  23. Di is right. Smoking in a public place (which means any indoor or enclosed area which is open to the public or any part of the public) is an offence. I can send you all of the relevant legislation but the problem is not what the law says - its enforcing it. I don't know about the police officers in Middelburgh but those I've encountered could not be bothered with 'minor' offences like this.
