  1. How were these finalists chosen?
  2. Why is it ok to bash Contador (c**tador) but not Armstrong? Why should Contador acknowledge that he was racing with one of the greatest TdF riders of all time (although I think he did) but Armstrong doesn't have to acknowledge that he was riding with one of the greatest grand tour riders of all time (although I also think he did). As far as I could tell they both contributed to the politics between them equally and if their attitudes sucked, their attitudes sucked equally. Everyone on theHub has his or her favourite and bashes the other riders to a greater or lesser extent. Why base an opinion on one hubber's opinion but not the next? Lets face it, there is as much blind Armstrong fanaticism on theHub as there is Armstrong bashing, not so? Anyway, watching the tour while Armstrong was dominating was quite boring. Next year will be anything but. I can't wait! And anyone who didn't like the Armstrong or Contador bashing this year shouldn't stick around for next year.
  3. Thanks guys.
  4. Just curious, but why do you dislike Contador so much?
  5. Good riddance. Anyone know what Corti's going to do? Hope he doesn't find another team.
  6. you'd be surprised Chicks that won't fall for that SS aren't worth picking up. I think its hot!
  7. Do you have to ride so fast because there are spiders chasing you?
  8. I also heard that remark being made....total B-S!! Why do people always have to read "more" into the face value of a situation?? Those are legit dance moves...not so? Because the peadophiles all over South Africa were licking their lips? Would you say the same if it had been an 11 year old girl writhing on the floor like that? I also didn't like the moves (there's nothing appealing to me in watching an 11 year old thrusting his groin) but he is definitely talented and has obviously put in hours of hard work. He deserves to do well but his choreographer and his parents need to reconsider.
  9. I don't understand quite understand what you're saying. My point was that any type of traffic should be considerate of other road users and I think that, when and if it is safe to do so, there's no reason why slow moving traffic shouldn't move over to let other traffic past. To say that motorists should be expected to sit behind cyclists riding abreast when it would be safe for the cyclists to move over and/or into single file because the motorists would have to sit behind a slow truck does not make sense. At least not to me. I am agreeing with you. It doesn't make sense, but it is used as an argument used by some cyclists. (I hadn't had enough coffee yet, so apologies if that didnt come across properly.)

  11. The question as to what the driver who is complaining about having to sit behind cyclists blocking the road would do if it was a slow truck was raised on this thread again. It often gets raised on such threads. I just want to make the observation that quite often the drivers of slow trucks move over for faster moving traffic when they can. When they can't move over, some truck drivers indicate to the drivers behind them when it is safe to pass. I have driven up to Namibia and back lots of times and the road generally does not have a yellow shoulder for the trucks to move over into but they are generally very helpful in allowing others to pass them. (Although on my last trip there was actually a marked difference in the attitude of the drivers with SA registration plates as opposed to Namibian registration plates ). Any way, my point is that courtesy and patience go a long way and that all road users (pedestrians/drivers/cyclists) should be more considerate.

Drugs to slow the heart beat down, like archers use.
  13. I did the 25km and really enjoyed it. The climbs were hard enough to be challenging, but not too hard, and the singletrack was so much fun. Its been a while since I've done any mountainbiking and this ride really made me realise what I've been missing. Thanks to the organisers for a great ride.
  14. Is it really best to keep it wet. I felt on saturday on a DC training ride. Taxi pulled into oncoming lane' date=' and my team mate in front of me broke too hard, I had nowhere to go, tried to squeeze between her and the pavement, clipped her hip, then the pavements, took quiet a fall. Lots of abrasive scrapes and scratches on my left arm and shoulder. Anyway, I went to the chemist and ask them what I should do...they said dont keep it wet, you have to dry it out, so I took their advice, sure I'm due for some hectic scars. Are their any risks in keeping the wound wet? e.g. infection etc [/quote'] Keeping wounds wet has always worked for me. Smear betadine or something similar over and then cover with gause. If you use betadine or something like that with antiseptic properties you won't have to worry about infection.
  15. The fact that the mats blew up could be seen as a freak accident (I've never heard of it happening before) so whether the organisers should have taken steps to prevent it happening is arguable. Given the speed at which the bunches come sprinting into the finish, however, I think the mats should have been secured adequately. Be that as it may, what is really disgusting is that there weren't ambulances at the finish and riders had to wait over half an hour for medical attention! How can that possibly happen, when everyone knows that crashes are likely to happen at the end. Even for the funriders (before I get into trouble again) non-professionals who don't sprint into the finish in huge bunches could be in need of medical assistance. The organisers stuffed up big time in this respect.
  16. Stunning, Delgado. Must just say that this is my favourite thread on thehub!
  17. This is really stunning. Reminds me of the Giro de Gondwana.
  18. Very clever!
  19. Also saw that, no wonder everyone just assumes I'm a guy. Must change my avatar to something pink.
