  1. Roadies have become competitive mountain bikers in SA because of our dirt roadie marathon races on offer in SA.... Put a roadie on flat pedals then we will see who a competitive mtbiker is :ninja:
  2. I think you should be safe because you used the right terminology... I heard she was african american ? oh wait ? African african ? ****, I'm not sure what the right terminology is, but I think she was darker than you.
  3. According to my "credible" sources, Koos is not doing as good as we would hope... He is not stable, his blood pressure keeps swinging all over the place and he is currently in coma. He is in urgent need of surgery to repair his broken leg, but his condition needs to be stable first. This is info is from a friend of mine who knows Koos well, I have no reason to believe the facts are false but if you are family of his and you read this, rather confirm these facts with his wife before jumping to any conclusions. Lets hold thumbs and keep Koos in our prayers... Edit : Before we all start crying about who drinks and who doesn't drink, who skips robots and who doesn't, lets keep this thread about positive thoughts and prayers for his recovery.
  4. How the hell did she get all the way out there?
  5. So refreshing going through this thread and seeing how much some people care for there pets! I just hate "guard dog" type owners that use animals as a tool and nothing else.... They force them to sleep outside in rain, snow and cold feeding them the cheapest food money can buy... When health issues arise put down and replace. Makes me sick...
  6. If I buy 29er rims for my 26" hubs, will my hubs be able to handle the speed ?
  7. Read the article... If I had to rate my bails, my worst were on flat pedals. Nothing like grating your shins just before you eat dirt. For some reason I feel like I am better off bailing at high speed clipped in compared to not being clipped in. I have a number of bails on both to make my opinion valid. I see where you guys are coming from, but I also understand the mind set of the writer who wrote the article.
  8. I can bunny hop my spinning bike, any real mtbiker can....
  9. The exact thing happened to me a while back using the roll bar mount.... The roll bar mount is not very practical on a bicycle.... It's way too big with bolt thread pointing in places that might hurt if falling. If you going to use your gopro finger tight, you may as well put prestic on your phone and use it as a action camera.... I'd suggest using the the phillips screw driver or a spanner. The idea is to get it just just tight enough so it doesn't move. I doubt this is good for the plastic, but this thing is useless without this method... If you are able to adjust your gopro with one hand while blazing down a single track, I'd suggest you sell your mtb and get yourself a road bike because this thing they call MTBING, YOU DOING IT WRONG!!!!
  10. Tip 3 - never ever ever ever wear Lycra, no matter what anyone tells you.
  11. Hi guys Been riding for a couple of years now, I have predominantly been doing XC marathon racing and general fun rides with friends. Gravity riding videos is what actually pulled me to the sport, but with the Mtb mentality of South Africans (dirt roadies) my mind has wandered far from what I thought I was buying into in 2008... I think it's time to start what I thought I started 5 years ago... I'm looking for something all mountain, something capable of doing the climbing to get to the top of whatever I want to bomb down. I have been looking at the Spez enduro, but it's a little out my price range. I can push for it if I must, I'm in no rush. I'm looking to buy in the entry level to mid range.... Try not post in this thread if you have to google for info .I can also do that. I'm looking for info/opinions from people who are riding AM and know what's available in SA and how I can get the best bang for my buck in SA... What are your opinions on all mountain 29ers ? In my current thinking, I want something super nippy for all mountain, not sure 29er will offer that? What are your opinions on this ? Looking forward to your advice !
  12. I want I want I want !!!!!!!
  13. Look around the classifieds. There are plenty "I only rode it once deals".
  14. That's why I say, rather save up a little while longer and get the bike you want new.
  15. That depends on the manufacturer. They all differ on what they are willing to offer you warranty wise. If you read the fine print, allot of warranties are void once sold off to the second user. Don't think any brand is going to offer you a warranty replacement without a receipt, so make sure you get the original proof of purchase when buying second hand if warranty is a concern. It would be for me.
  16. I just don't see the point in buying a used bike at 70% of the new price with no warranty.... The argument that you can replace the "consumables" is valid, but the consumables on a decent bike could cost you around 1 R 13 k without too much difficulty. Consider this fact also... SRAM and SHIMANO both use trickle down technology... Meaning they develop equipment on their highest model eg. XTR or X11, then the rest trickles down. So while you might think you are all cool with your 2005 SRAM XO Group set, my 2013 SRAM X 7 group set will technically be better, more durable and a whole lot cheaper.... Something to consider. Consider what I am saying, I'm not trying to piss anyone off... I'm actually trying to help. If you can find yourself something used, within 1-2 years that's hardly been ridden... Then sure, take it. Please don't fall into the trap many fall into by comparing a 2013 group set to a couple of years back.... You think you scoring a bargain with your used 2005 full carbon full XTR bike at R 20 K but in reality there are entry level bikes in 2013 that will give it a lashing hands down. Obviously there are many variables in this game, just be wise with your choices and always be very wary on second hand purchases. There's allot of people on this forum who will take as much money from you as they possibly can with out blinking an eye.
  17. What year model is that bike?
  18. Would you buy second hand toilet paper? Like toilet paper, most components on a bike are consumables meaning you use them up.... It's wiser to buy new within your budget than to buy second hand. You never know what a bikes been through...
  19. When I sell something online and take money from someone who does not know me a take extra care with the speed of my service and my communication between myself and the buyer... You don't sell something to someone online and cut communication. That's a obvious run away... 10 good deals don't correct 1 sour deal. If I were you, I would have started the same thread and contacted admin. Seems to me this guy sold your shades to someone else and is now trying to find more stock... Shady....
  20. Rant on It's only the fun riders that take so much pride and prestige over finishing the epic... I think everyone should just get over themselves. It's not like epic is selling medals. It's like team sky selling there team kit to the public, no one in sky team gives a sh*t... People have such a sense of entitlement. If some fat punk feels he wants to look rich and fit, he can go buy himself a amabubesi jersey... You don't see TDF finishers finishing mid pack crying about TDF merchandise up for sale. It's ridiculous... Now, jump off your high saddle, peel off that epic sticker from a couple of months ago and enjoy your bike, your ego is ruining it for you. Rant off
  21. That's Outsurance bud, they started that brand in Australia.... Seems like it's coming over to SA now.
  22. KENDA

    Sani2C 2014

Looks like these stage races are becoming about who has the biggest wallet rather than who has the biggest legs... SAD
  23. I looked them up... Course seems a bit pricey if you going to use it for DIY'ing like me... Might be worth paying if you work in the cycling industry...
  24. This is ours : ) Lives the life of luxury, in my next life I want to be him... Recently kicked him out the bed, you'd be amazed that at 2kg, he can take up the an entire double bed.... http://i1091.photobucket.com/albums/i395/veharmse/photo.jpg
  25. You guys should try Q 20
