  1. landed up with some bug after the Emperors race, nose, throat all feeling weird. Rested for about 8 days, then road Tour Durban yesterday and now I am properly stuffed. All the vitamins and immune boosters didn't help in the past 2 weeks, so I think a trip to the doctor is now on the cards.
  2. Nothing to complain about, everything was great, no issues with cars, cops n marshalls did a fantastic job and everything just ran smoothly. That would have been Daryl- Dazshel on the forum on white Merida.
  3. Went well, just made my goal with 4 minutes to spare. 3:26 for me. Haven't been feeling the best this past 2 weeks, cramped at the turn around and lost the bunch so had to crawl home.
  4. Meet your goals, and you get cash back from the gym booster benefit...
  5. Goodluck for tomorrow all!!
  6. Interesting, think I should do that, mine has been going by 100 each week.
  7. Quick and easy registration, nothing great in the goodie bag, usual nonsense.
  8. Discovery cash back just keep rolling in, it's the first year I have activated and linked everything, Healthy foods, dischem, and now life policy and gym booster. That's a nice chunk of money each month.
  9. no idea, maybe 1500-2000 people that start the long event.
  10. Time to join the club I think... I'm still not feeling a 100% so I might just take advantage of the full road closure and do it as a social ride. Only managed 2 rides in the last 10 days so that's abit of a problem.
  11. Goodluck. We all have to start somewhere hey. I've been hovering around 2.4w/kg for some time now, goal is to to get to over 3w/kg by September or so.
  12. no complaints for 2 days, wow. Gym booster cash back is coming through nicely. now just need to sort out the iWatch which I have been stalling for no reason at all.
  13. just entered, 1700+ entries already in a few hours...
  14. I just drove the M7 between the M4 and N2, there are many holes and cracks on the centre and left lane that hasn't been filled properly. I see they tried patching up the big ones but haven't done a good job of it. There is also, what looks like maize spilled at the intersection of South Coast Road and Edwin Swales so just need to be careful here. So just stay on the right lane all the way through on the M7 until you get to the climb. For the out of towners that means as soon as you get onto the concrete stretch of road keep right.
  15. The 2014 event was what got me into cycling, my first event, unfit, overweight, longest ride prior to this was 45km. God did I suffer, walking up hills, cramping like a mofo. limped home in 6:10. Have a score to settle with this route after missing out last year. will enter tonight.
  16. you can check you seeding here. http://www.pedalpower.org.za/seeding/ I see the groups AL-EL are quite big , +/- 250 - 300 people, and the front groups are just for the licensed racing bunches. There will be plenty wheels to suck so no worries there
  17. Also BL. Seems like their seeding is a bit of a stuff up or they just don't have too many numbers to make up more groups. My cuz who has only done the 65km Shova last year, has an index of +/- 155, starts just 2 groups behind in DL.
  18. Start times are on racetec, check your profile there. The route will be marked, pointing out any hazards so there is no major concern. Again, it's only about 10km of 105km that's not in great condition.
  19. on my last solo descent of M19, I got up to 78km with the new tar. It is super smooth now and is real fun. Was a bit dodge in the past with the bumps and some potholes.
  20. The only bad surface is on the M7 between the M4 and N2, that's probably about 7km of road. The rest is in good condition. In terms of descending, the M19 just after Pinetown is going to be FAST, so he needs to be very alert here and just keep his cool. Full directions on here... http://www.tourdurban.co.za/routes/ and lastly, using your brakes down the M19 is no fun, just give it full gas
  21. Wind guru at the moment is looking good for Sunday, mid 20's and looks like a bit of a tail wind coming home.
  22. My goal went up by 100 and now sits at 400, done in 1 ride. Coming back after a week of having a cold, my heart rate was slightly elevated which made it easy...
  23. Out the way for me, don't ever go that way. Can I send you the voucher?
  24. Have 1 Vida voucher expiring on Wednesday, just see this morning that Vida suncoast has closed... Send me a pm if you want it.
  25. You have to go to a Biokineticist to have the fitness assessment done and then Click/Dischem to get the screening tests done, all of this contributes towards your fitness level. If you trying to get it to 5 by just adding the hours of exercise you do then I don't think it's gonna happen.
