  1. Always been impressed with her performances. And ... always holding my breath she'll make it to the top step.
  2. Baden Powel Drive has become a dangerous road to ride, especially the section past Khayalitsha. From the description I have to assume that's where he was. Not advisable at all.
  3. DD starting the year in great form. If they have a similar year to 2016 they will do great, if better ... wow. Fantastic start already.
  4. "They are actually usually very reliable." Priceless LMIMC
  5. Agree with Patch. Rate the seller. Done.
  6. Yoh Bloukrans. Same experience on that section of trail. Really enjoyed and everyone seemed pretty friendly. Made sure I slow down and even stopped to the doggy gangs amazement. AND that portage is total madness to attempt.
  7. Interesting. Not selling anything to any "foreigner" (from) France. Eish. Have developed a dislike to "Gmail" and treat such account immediately with a . They can create countless email addresses and still remain untraceable in cyberspace.
  8. If you into running as well, then you must give consideration to getting the HR Run unit (little white running man on it) to get stride, cadence and other running dynamics. If only cycling, then any normal Garmin ant+ HR unit will work. Agree with seven, plenty appear here so be patient. Can be a bit costly though.
  9. Glad you guys are splitting some information regarding the wrist HR unit. Have the normal Fenix 3 with HR strap and happy with it but ... always thinking of the next gadget. I only use the watch for running and love the run dynamics. Will stop thinking about it. Use a normal Edge 500 for cycling.
  10. Kudos man. After all the years of watching you at all the worlds marathons, ... GREAT NEWS. So chuffed.
  11. Only in the High End Pro world would such gains make any "meaningful" difference. But ... just watch this space. Every Tom, Dick and Harriett will soon sport the same. If it's out there, we buy.
  12. Will share with the guys. Cool
  13. Hoorah. Here we go. Going for time this year, so looking forward to taking a deserved force break on that 400-500m gravel section. LOL
  14. Been using the Polar RS800 and for years knew nothing else neither needed anything else. Then along came Windows 10 and the world cave caving in. No iR port support and thus useless as I cannot download any data. Also always been a bit aggro with Polar for only having a service center in Gauteng. Turnaround time is not bad but the drag of every time having to post up North was irritating. Got me the Edge 500 and the world came together again. Need to upgrade to cater for my running, but won't go back to Polar. The Garmin failed me once, and seemed terminal but seems to have 9 lives and is going strong again. Old technology or not, by stopping to support their loyal following without even an alternative offer is just poor service.
  15. Stoking gents. Hoza Africa. Agree, the excellent foundation put in under the MTN flag has brought results. Carry forth DD. Kudos to the DR management team.
  16. Thanx cat-i for posting this link. This is not the first such expose I've read regarding athlete's experience on LCHF (read accounts from iron man athletes) but is the first in-depth encounter from someone who has also achieved sporting success at a competitive level. After reading this guys experience with LCHF, it just makes my commitment to remain on this eating plan AND increasing my exercise regimen all the more. No intention to win anything, but always trying to beat myself. It also allows me the comfort to know that guys like Marius are just ... sigh.
  17. Thanx for the slides jcza. Very insightful read.
  18. Marketing hype is generally done by those trying to make millions out of the masses. Interestingly enough, the only millions here is that made by those propagating your view. Just saying. You sound like one frustrated puppy.
  19. Done all my training for DC on just water and no other liquid supplement. No issues. Ate no carbs throughout training and again, no lack of energy. Hmmmn ... Wonder how much money I saved? Eish - pockets still empty though.
  20. Was worried about doing DC on LCHF, but pushed through and ate only my LCHF breakfast and again for lunch at the first feeding stop. In between had droe wors as suggested by someone way earlier and felt great all the way. Slow time for other reasons, but had no energy deficiency throughout. Very glad I stuck to my eating plan and it all worked a charm.
  21. Skylark: Sent you some BEFORE and AFTER videos taken after I went for a biokinetic assessment. Found the whole process extremely helpful. Showed me what I'm doing wrong even after running vivo for about 18months. Made the corrections and now looking forward again.
  22. VERY natural to find your calves talking a beating. With heel striking, your calves become underutilised and weaken significantly. With forefoot striking, (Note: not toe striking. There is a difference between running and sprinting. The latter you do on your toes) the Achilles is the tendon that does transmit the force and the calve is the muscle that act as the main shock absorber. So your Achilles need to have good flexability and your calves need to strengthen. I pulled my calve on both legs at different times because of wanting to go too far too soon. This will take plenty time, like months and in this transition you have to be patient. If not, you will be injured. Send me a PM with your email. Will share some info with you.
  23. If not too long you should have energy to spare. Enjoy the run.
  24. Just decided to put on my freebie for a quick 90 minute cruise. Versus Rocks. Hope your range will soon include some White Race Socks with Black and/or Red variations.
