  1. Doing now: 24 (never watched any) Downton Abbey (never watched) American Horror Story (From season 1, almost done with season 2)
  2. Anyone in Pretoria... I have some kefir. Collection is essential. Don't want to try to ship this now. Collection in Equestria this week, and next week will be near the CSIR.
  3. Poison monster Boelie. Or rather poison fart creator...
  4. Bastards at Silverton refused to open a case and wanted me to cycle to Garsfontein station to open a case.
  5. Dumb birch in her BMW that had a road rage issue after I had a close call to her R14500 BMW when she pushed me off the road, then tried to hit me on the side walk / boken bike path
  6. For those looking for a outing and getting your hands on some cultivar Near the N4 if you are heading to Rayton, you will see a pink cow next to the road. They have Kefir there. Is a nice outing and milk costs about R6-00 per liter of real fresh cow milk. They also have a few cheeses and other produce (yoghurt, butter and ice cream) So pop in there. They have a tea garden there as well. For the kids, see how a lamb looks and some other farm animals (cows, chickens and some hogs) Think the Kefir culture will be less than R100 for about 1/4 of a cup.
  7. Got some fresh farm milk this weekend. First batch with some fresh farm milk is busy at the moment. Will give it a test drink after the 2nd stage. The batch made with Woolworths milk is better than the store batches. Think it might be because it is fresh.
  8. Eina! Think I paid something like R50-00 for about 3 spoon fulls. This jew inside of me see a huge money making scheme....
  9. Thanks Will take it out of the fridge tonight. Lesson learnt.... Less is more
  10. Started my 3rd batch this morning. But I started this one in the fridge. Need to slow the whole system down as I am the only one on the Kefir way.
  11. Started the first batch a few minutes back. So will see tomorrow morning what happened
  12. @Tombeej The whey (yellow liquid) can you drink that? Or chuck it? Sorry for the dumb questions...
  13. Also saw the Bruce logo on the site. Oh well. Off to find another place I can buy things from.
  14. Was told to start with about 50ml. Last night I drank about 100ml. Will get the wife started as well. Gut health seems more important than we think. And if it can help me to fart less it will halp a lot. I am like a chemical exploding plant some days
  15. Hmm, the Jew in me just woke up
  16. I have one hope. That this will help my IBS. Only reason I am getting this. I found that I had a huge problem since getting my Nespresso machine. Nothing beats a Late and I had a few of them, then started getting real sick. And since cutting back on the milk, I have been getting better. Still farting like a cow, but at least I am starting to feel better. And the lack of cycling puts me back big time.
  17. And to the Mountain Bike guys in the east. Please, think. A RED traffic light does not mean you can carry on over the red light. Saw two people yesterday skipping a red light down Lynnwood and then flipping off a car that had right of way to turn as well as a green light.
  18. Did a bit of reading. just give me a few weeks to build my culture, then I will send you some. There is a very good instructional on the shipping of Kefir. http://blog.cheesemaking.com/using-kefir-grains-and-shipping-them-to/
  19. LOL my uncle fell of this. Think it was called the cube scam https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kubus_scheme
  20. I was told to use Woolies milk http://www.woolworths.co.za/store/prod/Food/Food/Dairy-Eggs-Milk/Milk/Fresh-Milk/Full-Cream-Fresh-Milk/Fresh-Full-Cream-Ayrshire-Milk-3L/_/A-6001009001733. I was told that this will not kill the culture or rather harm the culture. I have a contact near Pretoria that can get raw milk. Can ask my mom as well. They stay near farms, and I know I can drive 30 km to get raw milk as well. So I am in a very privileged position. I am not sure. The culture needs to breath. So I doubt that it will survive a trip. Not sure how the guys in the US sends theirs around, but they use a culture starter. So I do not know how it works...
  21. You mean Amasi? Has about the same taste yes. I am not sure what culture they use to get Amasi going. And I hate that Amasi is a mass produced product, so I do not know what they put into the product. With Kefir I buy the milk and ferment the product in my own home and I can decide when to remove the culture. oh and the fact the clover has a Amasi brand does not do it justice. You never know what they put in the milk over there... Oh and if you have Kefir.... Clover for some reason kills the culture....
  22. Wiki link: The word kefir, existing in the Russian language since at least 1884,[6] is probably of North Caucasian origin,[7] although some sources see a connection to Turkic köpür (foam).[7] Kefir has become the most commonly used term, but may be known by other names in different geographic regions.
  23. Yeah kinda silly. South Africa is full of poo if you ask me...
  24. There is a little farm stall in the East of Pretoria. Saw the advert of Kefir on their wall last week, and decided to stop in. Bought a liter. Went in yesterday again, and asked the gentleman if I can buy culture from him, and he said he will be glad to sell me the culture. So got a few grains... Not sure if the culture will last in the mail, but if it grows I can give a few grains away as well. So will keep the tread up to date
  25. Just got my hands on a few grains. I am sure I saw a thread with Kefir as a topic, but can't find it... Any tips for a first timer? Will have to get a few mason jars to grow this little project...
